Seeking opinion for OVH's VPS SSD 3

Recommended Posts

Hey, I'm looking for someone who have purchased OVH's VPS SSD 3.

Specs compared with 2 other options:

I am getting it for the purpose to practice as server management. Since my host provider for Minecraft is closing, I wanted to go a bit far more, something like this. It'll increase my experience a bit advanced,

If you've used this option in the past, I'm seeking for reviews before I buy it.

OVH and Digital Ocean are both solid providers, and both offer per-hour rates, so if you're just using it to practice you can spin up a VPS for only a couple of hours when you're messing with it and end up paying a couple a cents vs a few dollars.

I prefer to pay it for per-month instead of per-hour. While it is true that I will only use it for practice, but I could just have it for another use for web or game, such as Terraria.

I've heard so much about Digital Ocean, I considered getting their VPS there and ended up not to do it.

I can't give an opinion on VPS SSD 3, but I have used VPS SSD 1 for my personal server for almost a month now. Besides their panel being different than other hosts I've used in the past, they've been great. They have great stability and good performance at a great price. Being such a big company, they're also generally more professional than most other hosts.

What do you use then for? I'm considering to use VPS SSD 1 instead since my budget this month is "limited".

There's a few different things I run on there, I have a web server running on there (https://vauff.me), but i haven't set up any landing page for it yet. There's also a few IRC bots running on there, a TeamSpeak server, FTP server, MariaDB server, IRC bouncer and the MapTracker Discord bot that's in the zombie escape discord server.

What's the CPU and RAM usage for those all programs you are using?

RAM usage is at 738 megabytes right now, CPU typically idles between 0.5% and 1%.

Well, that's interesting. Thanks for answering my question.

Depends on what you will be running off it.
The VPS is running a virtual CPU hence it being a VPS which means you can't run a whole lot and nothing too intense otherwise, the server will get bottlenecked.

  • 2 weeks later...

I've went and used VPS SSD 1. I will be upgrading to SSD 2 next month, so then we'll see how it goes from there.

Thanks for helping me choosing.
