Little Ring

I'd like your opinion on the riots.

This was a controversial thing over the dinner table tonight and I'd like to hear your input.

Since the election has ended there have been riots all over the place, specifically, I've recently seen people standing in the highway in protest to the elections. I personally believe if you stand in the highway you deserve to get hit. One of my family brought up how MLK also did the same, I responded with how MLK's followers also knew that they were breaking the law and knew what the punishment was in order to achieve the rights they deserve. Based off what I've seen, these people just riot just to riot and expect their actions to be justifiable. I'm not saying they don't have the right to protest, I'm saying that the way they are protesting is unacceptable. Please, do tell me your opinion on this.

Honestly, rioting, protesting, and occupying places does not seem like an effective way to bring "support" to an issue. Instead of pissing other people, especially those who are trying to get to work, those running businesses, and those trying to make a living in order to survive, they should all just go the Washington D.C. and have a protest there. They should contact their congressman or representative and express their displeasure of issues in the country.

I don't think the civil rights movement with MLK is a good comparison to the protests of the election results. The protesting about the election around the country does not seem be unified. Who's the leader leading the protest of the election results? The biggest difference is the civil rights movement had a prominent leader to follow in MLK.

There was this one story I read where a woman tried blocking traffic at a highway at night and got hit. Never understood how blocking and occupying an active roadway, especially the highway, solves the problem. What do they think will be accomplished by endangering themselves and others?

I don't really support the black lives movement or the election protests because I have not heard any solutions to the issues. It's been nothing but destroying property, blocking roads, and endangering themselves and others. People bring up racism, hate towards the police, homophobia, and other issues, but they don't present their solutions.

People always state the problem, but don't provide their solution the problem. Nothing will change if they don't discuss and present a solution.

Just my opinion.

Also, I've read somewhere or some article about topics that you shouldn't discuss with people because it always leads to problems or arguments such as fights and violence.

Never talk about religion, politics, and money. I've read so many stories of people getting into fights and killing each other because of their opinions in those topics.

IMO both sides are kinda pointless. The anti-trump people aren't really going to make much of a difference and the people that say "ALL THE PROTESTS ARE POINTLESS" would have probably protested as well if Hillary won.

There is protesting (peaceful), and then there is protesting (violent).

The acts of a few violent individuals among a crowd causes the entire group of protesters to turn into protestors. Police have no idea how to tell protesters from protestors, which can cause things such as false arrests, which then make things worse as it turns the attention to the police and how they handle the situation.

Protesting is OK. Honestly, it is the only way people will ever listen; when a group interrupts something (traffic, work, etc), to state what they feel is wrong and what they feel is right. Protesting, on the other hand, is a very sad thing. Who honestly thinks that running around smashing up cars and rioting against police is a helpful action? That it will further your point? Protesting only results in more issues.

In my opinion, I think that those protesting Trump's win are justified and right to do so, but those protesting Trump's win are immature and idiotic.

I refuse to comment to any reply on this matter, whether you feel the same way I do or not. I am only stating how I feel.

Great discussion topic ^-^

The riots are the most poorly executed protests of this decade.

If there was a tree being cut down and someone was really against it, what would they do? chain themselves to the tree to keep it from being removed. If the presidential candidate of your choosing lost unfairly (not really) what would they do? March into DC and walk the streets in a peaceful movement? No, they  just interfere with public transportation by standing in the middle of the highway. Sure these stories are publicized like hell, but that doesn't help the cause. The people driving on the highway to get where they're going don't care, and even if they did would the president elect magically switch if  everyone  on the highway stopped? Also, when the media publishes that a number of people have been hit while protesting on the highway doesn't make protesters look that smart.

Overall I believe in their right to protest but, Trying to cause massive traffic jams on major highways is going to do nothing for the cause and is more dangerous then a better, more sensible way of protesting peacefully on a march.
