  • The Return of CSS ZE!

I'd like to add a little clarity to the rumours spreading about CS:S ZE/RU community returning.

I'll refer to GFLclan.ru as RU and GFLclan.com as GFL to make this easier.

Juky (whom some of you may remember) had got into contact with @Roy as he had some concerns with keeping the server hosted on their end. They then discussed the possible return to us, and before that decision was finalised, there were some terms from both ends.

    • Juky, Shinigami and Botox will, at this moment in time, remain banned
    • The server will be moved to our OVH server and the plugins will be recompiled to ensure the servers safety
    • Current permanent VIPs within RU will transfer over to GFL
    • The server will be having 2 server managers (@Dogan and @Backy) from within the RU community—Soft Serve and Vanya’s official ranks are still under discussion
    • The current server rules and admin team of CS:S ZE will remain as they currently are
    • As is currently the norm, global admins (Council/DL/TA) will also respect the rules within that server and will ensure that if they are to join the server that they familiarise themselves with said rules

There are also a couple of points I will mention. For instance, due to the current issues within RU, the donations from RU will not be transferring over to GFL; this is in relation to the issue above about hosting the server. There are also discussions happening to unban Juky (he would not be given a rank), as thanks for bringing both communities together and to enable him to continue playing on CS:S ZE. Feel free to comment your opinion as well.

These are the majority of terms which were discussed and are relatively simple. We would like to ensure that CS:S ZE isn't altered as much as possible, as we don't want to alienate the current players.

Overall, we believe this is a good step for both communities in burying the hatchet and moving on. I would also like to thank the RU members who have been involved within these discussions, especially Juky, who initially brought this to us and helped find common ground between the communities.

This means that we will start seeing people from RU getting involved within GFL over the next few weeks, I'd love if we could make them feel welcome and get to know each other as one big community bound by a common interest!

If you'd like to read over RU's post on this topic it is here: https://forum.gflclan.ru/d/935-a-tale-of-two-turfs-community-merge-backstory They do cover some points which I haven't within this post.

I am also going to link the CS:S ZE Discord for anyone who is interested in getting to know some of the RU members before this move is fully completed: https://discordapp.com/invite/JyAxA7K

Finally, I’d also like to personally welcome everyone from RU and I hope to get to know as many of you as possible in the near future!

I was Council at the time, and we (Council) didn't have any form of control or access to view the background actions in the finances. People could come up with whatever theories they wanted as to why the PayPal balance was falling so low, but nothing was proven until BotoX made it public. People were right to suspect at the time that Roy was aware of SoJa taking the money (even if he's actually innocent), but there's no reason to think any further than that.

As a former Council member at the time, I can confirm this was the case.

I hope everything works out. Especially, the lessons learned from the handling of security (access, personal info), donations, and decisions of the server.

Hopefully, the Russians don't tamper with the current administration. :P

Miss me some CSS ZE. May have to make time to play once this goes live.

If we can get some old school players back in the mix this could be a great time.

Same here man! I'll definitely hop on when it does!

Minas tirith recently got added to .com and I had the pleasure of playing the map with a team that mostly hadn't played it on css. It was a total shitshow, 0-6 and then 2-15. After playing on css it was like bizzaro world where people didn't have the most important zombie flank routes and timings memorized leading to panic. Even if the players themselves are good it'll take a while for people to learn the map. I'd like to see some more experienced minas elites from css in the server to teach the map. At this point i'm afraid that people might just give up and preemptively rtv. I don't want csgo to miss out on minas. Maybe afterwards we can all sing kumbaya and hold hands with white knight as we run to the end of the bridge thing.

Also, it seems unnecessarily cruel to ban juky, botox and the third guy from playing on the server when they're so invested in the game and its community. It's like telling a fish it can't swim or that it has to move to another shittier unloze scented fishbowl, one of only two sizeable fishbowls on css just because he stole your bowl.

Since we're going to join the servers we should try to get along better together. It doesn't look good to exclude the more beloved, useful and the other guy ones. When I try to understand the history of the split (during which time I took a break) by reading all these posts, it just seems like a bunch of immature idiots making boneheaded decisions all around and half apologizing/justifying for them. Not to say pretend the split never happened and fuggedaboutit but let's use this opportunity to make ze great again.

I 100% agree with this. One of my favorite parts of ZE is successfully leading teams to victory but this mentality has been lost as time went on. As I led more maps on this server, the more I would see players get angry me telling them whats happening in the map. Hot take: If you want the server to be successful in efficiently winning maps, yall need to get rid of the "server as a social space" mentality and make it a "play to win" mentality. Discords and forums are a great place for socializing, keep the server as a game to play.

Rant over, sorry if this is slightly offtopic.

To get back on topic, any update on this?

I'd like to know if any progress has been made on getting server set up etc. I saw here https://forum.gflclan.ru/d/724-zombie-escape-public-changelog/18 that slight changes are going to be made before setting up the server here but I was curious if any other developments could be made public. If everything is still secret admin discussions that that is fine.
