WILL MURDER BE SAVED?!

So I'm making this post because obviously it needs to be done.

 

WHY HAS MURDER BEEN STONE DEAD FOR LIKE A WEEK NOW?! Even after a bunch of changes have been made the only time, it remains populated is with teamers/trolls.

 

So with that being said, what can be done to save this mode or has murder's time finally come and gone and it's time to move on.

 

Let's hear some thoughts (KEEP IT CONSTRUCTIVE and No bashing of players/admins/etc.)

I am honestly surprised to hear that GFL has a dead Murder server, given how fun the gamemode is from the few times I played it.

 

I do not really have anything constructive to add based off of personal experience, but I am curious about something. You said that it has been stone dead for a week now, @Dead_Soul, so I am wondering: When did the activity on the server originally die down, and what occurred that might have led to the decline? I am assuming the server was fairly popular at one point, so I am curious about when it went downhill. If you find the root of why there are no players other than those that you mentioned, then that makes it a lot easier, albeit possibly more time-consuming at one time, to remedy the problem(s).

 

Another recommendation of mine is to try to find those who once populated the server actively(even those who were not as active), and ask them what happened to make them not want to come onto the server anymore. Personal communication can yield fascinating and helpful insights into such problems.

 

Those are just my two cents, I apologize if I was not very helpful.

A big problem with a lot of servers is you need a player base. When jailbreak was low pop the few people we did have just wanted to be admin. This means we lose a regular player base and just have admins playing. Now we get like 20-25 people a night who constantly come back. You need to draw in a regular player base who comes on daily. @Winter you need to get on it my dude <3

Our playerbase has mostly gone. We have only our admins populating at the moment, and that is really all we do. I regret that I have been busy lately- Deathrun has taken a lot of my attention, as well as I admit to having my own interest in Murder wane a little.

 

I have been talking with @Bae regarding events for Murder, and I have started advertising Murder as not requiring CS:S. I will look into adding more maps but honestly I don't really know where else I can go with this. If you all have any suggestions I'd be more than happy to hear them, considering something needs to be done, and soon.

I used to be on in Murder too but as time went on, I got bored, I mean it's a fun game but if there's more people on, I would join GFL Murder

Out of curiosity, apart from the lack of population, was there any other reason you got bored, and anything that, if it was to be done with the server, would make you interested enough to hop on and possibly play more?

It's only population but other than that, the server is good, it used to have 10 players on everyday, I usually go to the minecraft one

Fair enough. I do not suppose you have any idea as to why the server ended up dying out, would you? All I have been able to guess at is possibly the lack of meaningful/exciting updates, but I am clueless about the history of the Murder Server and its former playerbase.

The game mode itself is good, I love all the additions to it but I'm not exactly sure either why people left, I mean it's a fun game mode unlike Hide and Seek which I find boring. Maybe the population will come back in a few days or so like what happened to GFL Zombie Survival

Perhaps so. Thank you for your replies, I am simply trying to figure this out to help the server get back on its feet, and I cannot find the reason for it dying, and thus si not know how to progress save for organizing times for willing members to hop on and play.

If you want people to join you have to make them feel welcomed, I suggest adding some kind of reward system or a "daily reward" make them want to get on eachday. Although that won't make sure people will stay it's a start. secondly I firmly believe that laugher and entertainment is a big key in almost everything so you can't be so strixt on everysingle rule, which as I used to be a regular I know you guys aren't. To make sure that people know the no teaming rule or camping, ect. Put big bold ledders on the screen somewhere that it will stay, and to punish them simply freeze them, or ragdoll them because slaying them will not work, by the next round they will have already done it again, so what would be worse than not moving, not knowing whats going on around you waiting for the murderer/gun man to kill you? also on certain rounds you need a time limit on how long someone can stay still because there are afk's and campers. Other than all of that I believe in the murder servers will make it, so goodluck guys hope to be able to get on soon

I did not know that was not already on the server. That would be a pretty neat little addition, though as you said, that is not near enough to make people come on and stay.

I agree with not being lawyers when it comes to rules(because prior experience has taught me that, to an extent, the less strict the moderation team is, the more enjoyment and less rules are overall broken), but at the same time, there has to be enforcement in the sense of warnings such as "Hey, do not not do that again." Punishments should never be the first, sometimes not even the second course of action, but must be something that the moderation team is not shy to utilize should players not heed the warnings. It all must be done in moderation(kind of pun intended).

I appreciate your input myself, even though I do not really have anything to do with the server at this time. If you have anything else you would like to suggest to bring in players, I would love to see it.
