Don't use binds, the future is now

This is a little guide I wrote because no reason, and I see lots of people using binds for multiple texts messages in-game
There's bound to be misspells (  ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

 

You may be wondering, what is better than binds to spam the chat with shit?
The answer is... Aliases

What is an alias?
An alias is a command that you create to do something, you can have it do anything you normally would be able to do with the console

For example, let's say you want to have a comand called "lenny" and it sends "( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)" into chat

You would type into console

alias "lenny" "say ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)"

So everytime you write lenny into console you would send a lenny face

But remember, everytime you close the game, all aliases are lost, so you need to save them into a .cfg file (Text file)
To do that just create a text file inside the cfg folder of your game ( ...Garrys Mod\garrysmod\cfg)

and now change the .txt into a .cfg, then open it with a text editor, inside it should look like theese examples

alias "name" "command"
(For multiple commands)
alias "name" "command; command"
alias "name" "command; command; and so on"

and DO include the quotation marks else the command might not work

the commands can be "say... say_team... and others"
After doing that, you are going to need to type into console:

exec "Name of the cfg without .cfg"

You need to type that everytime you start the game, but at least you don't need to accidentally press all your binds at once

Now you can have multiple chat aliases or whatever you need to

I've used this for a while to toggle my god mode and cloaking. Pretty neat imo.

OR! You can just use keyfindbind thing in console and it will list all the binds in your console! It’s just that easy!
