You want Purge back? Well...

Hello, this is click-bait, sorta. If you want to read about why I think Purge died and what should be done if it wants to be revived (and no it's not "Flyingjoe sucks rant" don't worry) then read ahead. If not - then this isn't the post for you.

 

Purge was an extremely successful GMod server with lots of life, over 100 people playing in 2015 at one time. Sure, it was cancer, but it was an extremely fun place to spend time in. The first place I was ever admin in.

 

Upcoming years (2016, 2017) there was a lot of problems with things like lag, massive FPS issues, etc. I went through the whole thing. 9 FPS with a 1050ti? Yeah, those kinds of problems.

 

However, nothing was really done about these problems, and Server Managers and Admins focused, or felt like they were forced to focus on adding more things and advertising the server more and more, to (what i felt was the avoid being demoted. At least, that's how I felt when managing HnS.

 

In my time Managing HnS, i felt as if my work as a manager was credited solely on what I done to *add more* to it.

 

Anyway, back to the subject at point. Purge.

 

I went across to various servers (IceFuse, Defconnations, etc) to see how they ran their servers. And as i found, 60+ FPS with 60+ people on. I haven't ever had that on Purge with 20-30 people on.

 

Here's what I can provide insight to what was wrong with Purge, and what we can do to fix it.

 

Consistent name changes to server. Listing what it has and anything new is always amazing to provide to people browsing servers. Adding a star or SOMETHING is better than a boring generic server. Also, make it neat.

Playermodels - There were absolutely no variety or anything to provide to the way playermodels looked. Hell, at least half of the jobs had the same Gun Dealer model or Civilian Model.

Pets - In a semi-serious RP, maybe someone wants to rp as a pet. Just because you don't want it, doesn't mean nobody else does.

M9K - I found these weapons to work a lot more than the one we used last time (FA:S 2, i believe?) there's also a LOT more.

Prop limits - Make it like 15 for users, 20 for members, 25 for supporters, and 30 for VIP instead of like 60 or whatever it used to be. Having hundreds of props on the map MIGHT'VE BEEN THE REASON IT WAS LAGGING.

More jobs - Seriously, this should've been figured out on it's own, but i guess not.

More availability in things people can do in jobs (I.e) Casino Managers can MAKE casinos.

Stop with the custom mods unless you are a pro. Spending $10 on a known working mod is 1000% better than making it yourself when you don't have the same idea on how to do it.

Resetting money - don't do it for the love of god.

 

If there's more things I can think of, I'll list it.

 

Now it's your turn. If GFL would bring back Purge and make a change to it, what would YOU, as a PLAYER, want to see, or what would you think would be beneficial to Purge to run better and user-friendly if it came back? Maybe DLs will read this and even consider bringing it back.

Don't wanna seem rude here, but what points are incorrect? Most of these can't be wrong or right, and most make sense.

 

Also, if I may ask, what's keeping back the reproduction? there hasn't been many updates from GMod DLs in a long time.

As a person who hated playing Purge, I just want to say that my toaster laptop lagged a lot when I went on there, and it took a long time to download. 

 

I know that these are gamemode specific problems, but it kept me from playing.

The only thing I want to point out was that you put the incorrect years. It was 2014 when it was populated 24/7 with over 97 players. 2015 died a little down after the a new manager took the position. It did populated but it wasn't as good as 2014. In 2016 is when the attack begin, everything died at that time. So evidently, purge wasn't the only one that got the major hits, but the other populated servers did too. Afterwards, it was hard enough to keep it more than 32 players. And evidently, around 2017, things on purge started to die very fast. Players that used to play no longer comes on since some were upset over some of the admins biased conclusion and some banned or not welcome anymore. All the regular left, it wasn't the same for them anymore. They tried to help and play. But at that time it doesn't go over 15 or 20 players. And the last I recalled it couldn't go over 5 players for a very long periods of time.

 

August 2014 was when purge was created and when DarkRp shut down because everyone from DarkRp went to Purge.

Please bring it back..... It was honestly the best server on GFL. I would totally come back to play and donate if it does come back sometime soon.
