Roy 10,832 / 0 Report Post Posted August 5, 2019 Hey everyone, I just wanted to share some graphs and numbers showing GFL's recent progress in the past few months for those interested. Honestly, GFL hasn't been doing as well as it is now since early 2016 (before the new website) in regards to server/website numbers. Website Registrations We are now starting to reach 60+ registrations daily. We haven't had this high of a number since the new website was released in mid-2016 (which had an obvious spike because of the existing community and new website launch). Total Online In-Game Players We track the most online users in-game here (peak). I check this daily and in the last couple months, we've been hitting around 500 - 600+ players daily (peak). Unfortunately, we don't have a graph that tracks daily numbers (I had one built at one point years ago and implemented into the IPS 4 beta website using a JavaScript library (Charts.JS?), but it didn't work after importing to the live website). However, I do believe we still track these numbers in the database. Therefore, we may be able to build a graph in the future which will show historical data as well. Anyways, we beat our old record which occurred sometime in early 2017 due to a CS:GO matchmaking outage (so community servers saw more activity) on May 12th, 2019. Our record is currently at 643 players online at the same time on all GFL servers. We've been getting very close to that number since then. As of right now, I'd say we're in the stabilizing phase meaning we're waiting for our new hosting provider and working to improve our current servers on the Anycast network along with the network itself. We've only added a couple servers to our rotation recently which don't consume much resources. I'd say we'll start adding more servers after a couple months or so. Servers On The Anycast Network Many of our servers have been doing well on our Anycast network. You can find a full list here. However, I just wanted to share them here as well. Our Rust server reached 165 players around two weeks ago or so. Unfortunately, due to no support for fragmented UDP packets on the Anycast network via Compressor, GameTracker hasn't recorded these numbers. However, you can see our server tracker recorded it at 165/200 here. Fun note - we've never had a single server reach this many players before (GFL started running in 2011). The server that held this record beforehand was probably our old GMod Purge server which would get to 95 - 105 players back in 2014 - 2016. We now have three successful TF2 servers. Two in which are in the top 10! If it weren't for GameTracker deranking many legitimate servers, we'd also have three CS:GO servers in the top 10. Two in which are Surf Timer. I'd like to note how well our 64-slot Surf Timer server has been doing as of recent. These servers are getting closer to how our CS:GO Surf Timer servers did back in 2014 - 2016. Our CS:GO ZE server is still the top CS:GO server in the world (which it has been for the last three - four years or so) which is still amazing, by the way. Our CS:GO Arena, BHop, and JailBreak servers are also doing well on the new network. Our Fistful of Frags server rarely empties out! And finally, our GMod servers on the network are doing great! Prop Hunt and TTT seem to never drop below 15. We also have an in-game player tracking database that recorded at 3+ million unique players since 2014. However, I don't have any numbers right now. There is also a high chance the new servers don't have this plugin installed. I plan to look into this at some point and get our servers updated with the new plugin. Thank you! I just wanted to thank everyone who is contributing to our progress. From playing on our servers, to visiting the website, to administrating, and donating. Everything helps! This is called a gaming community for a reason. Everybody helps contribute towards the community's progress one way or another. I understand there are a lot of improvements still needed. There are still concerns about the amount of donations we receive, etc. We are also making tweaks to our Anycast setup. We are waiting for our new hosting provider who will offer a better performing CPU and will be ultimately cheaper than what we are paying for now. With that said, the Anycast network itself needs improvements. However, we won't be able to do this until I can get Scorch Host going which is still the plan. I know I am not as active within the community itself. I am only trying to participate in the technical side of GFL. However, I will still do my best to guide everybody in the right direction if possible. I will also be taking a big step back to start working on Scorch Host once things calm down in GFL and I have a game plan. I will also try to get more numbers and graphs I can display which will show GFL's recent progress. I hope you enjoy the read and thank you for your time. Male_08 403 / 0 Report Post Posted August 6, 2019 · Hidden Hidden Although breach has been pretty depressing for me with most of my good friends and admins leaving, huge changes to the game making it barely recognizable, and new, toxic players I still have fun on it and I'm glad to help.
