Creating Quick Binds for TTT Traitor/Detective Equipment.

Yo, I figured I may as well make a quick guide on binding certain equipment to TTT so you can quick buy them as a Traitor or a Detective. This is specifically weapons for the GFL TTT Rotation server, I can't help out on any others, sorry.

 

First, you'll have to Enable Developer Console, do this by starting your GMod, go to Options, Keyboard, Advanced and Enable Developer Console.

 

 

Then you'll want to join Rotation and once loaded in, type ~ to open Console (~ is located under your ESC key on most keyboards)

 

The command we'll be using is bind. As a test, type

bind "KEY" "say Hello World!" 

And replace KEY with a key bind. YES, THE QUOTES ARE NEEDED. Here's a link to the list of binds for Garrys Mod. When you're done it'll look like this:

 

 

Now, press it and this will appear in chat.

 

 

Now that you understand the basics of using Bind to bind keys to a command, the command we actually are using is ttt_order_equipment. There are two usages of ttt_order_equipment: Numbers (Only for 3 weapons) and names of weapons.

 

Numbers correspond to the universal Traitor and Detective weapons, namely Armor, Radar and Disguiser. Armor is 1, Radar is 2, and Disguiser is 4 (Dunno what happened to 3)

 

So you do

bind "KEY" "ttt_order_equipment 1"

And it'll give you Armor for whatever role you are (Excluding inno)

 

Now on to the names of the weapons.

 

Every other weapon has a name for the guns, for example, c4 is named weapon_ttt_c4. So we'd do

bind "KEY" "ttt_order_equipment weapon_ttt_c4"

And after pressing the key to buy it on your T round, you'll have it in your inventory. As shown in this small video (I used / as my bind).

 

 

 

Now, you'll probably be wondering what our weapon names are so you can bind certain ones. I have made a list for all of the Traitor and Detective weapons. Please see below. And ignore what's in the brackets, that's just letting you know what item is what.

 

DETECTIVE WEAPONS:

So, if you'd want to bind / to the Springmine, for instance, you'd type in to console

bind "/" "ttt_order_equipment weapon_ttt_springmine"

You should add this to the motd (at least for rotation) as it's a very common question that people ask on the server, and this guide provides a more in depth explanation than a few quick lines that I/admins would say.

Here's a few more sweaty tips if you really want to make the most of these quick binds

the command "ttt_quickslot (slot)" when binded automatically swaps you to the given slot when pressed.
Now on it's own it isn't all that useful as you would need to fill your entire keyboard with binds but heres the trick

if you input your normal auto buy command, say for example

bind "KEY" "ttt_order_equipment weapon_ttt_c4"

and then append the quickslot command to it so it looks like 

bind "KEY" "ttt_order_equipment weapon_ttt_c4; ttt_quickslot 8"

(Assuming c4 is normally in slot 8, it's probably not but I dont know the slot off the top of my head) if you press the bind once it buys c4, however, if you press it again it auto switches to it so it's in your hand. So if you want c4 fast you can just mash it twice and have it out instantly. 

This works with all other weapons listed, just used c4 as an example (obviously won't work with ttt_order_equiptment binds since those arent physical objects, i mean it would, it just wouldnt do anything on second press)

I was actually just trying to remember how to set all of this up, last time I did it was like 5 years ago to get a bind for C4. Thanks for the help! 😄
