How to host a lan server

Recommended Posts

You can simply install a dedicated server onto your PC. A tutorial (written out, not a video) can be found here:

https://developer.valvesoftware.com/wiki/Counter-Strike:_Global_Offensive_Dedicated_Servers

Here you can find how to install SourceMod (required for custom game modes):

https://wiki.alliedmods.net/Installing_sourcemod

Furthermore, you can find plugins for CS:GO servers here:

So I use SteamCMD to download all the CSGO dedicated Server files. and put SourceMod folder into addons folder in the csgo folder?

Then put the plugins in the plugin folders in SourceMod and just play?

Just like that?

Look for SteamCMD on the valve wiki, it's what you need to install a server on your computer.

there are steps to follow to install it

Ok got it, it is listed in the csgo dedicated server wiki

I did this to get some recording done on CS:S Surf so we could work on a tutorial video.

Yes, please make a video tutorial :)

I meant for Surfing in CS:S.

Not sure if you meant on how to set-up a server, 'cause I barely could do it without it breaking.

Sounds like you're almost there. Make sure sv_lan is set to 1 in your cfg/server.cfg while the server is running. Can't remember if this is default or not.
