[Announcement] Community Representative Elections - Round 2

Hello!

 

Recently, the Council has decided to rearrange the layout of the Council and to add 2 new permanent council positions (in order to get to 9 members as intended). We have decided that the two current community representatives, Salad and Infra, should fill these positions for now. In order to replace the community representatives we have just re-designated, we will be running another election with candidates from the last community representative election. The election will run until May 30, 2021 and the terms of the new community representatives will begin on that date. Also, another thing that changed that won't apply this time but will apply next time is that higher up staff will no longer be permitted to run for CR.

 

The rules are the same as the last voting period:

 

• You must be a Member or above
• Your account must be at least 2 months old.
• You may cast 2 votes. Each vote must go to a different person.
• Once you have cast a vote, you cannot remove the vote and recast it for a different person.
• If you're a candidate you may vote (even for yourself), but please remember to act with integrity throughout the process.

I wont lie about my preference I would have just picked runner ups, but I don't see the harm in a second election and think it will be fun anyways.  Good luck on round 2!

I was going to do this, but, there were some concerns about potential push back from just assuming the rankings would remain as is without Infra and Salad, so we're just doing a shorter repeat of the election.

Very fair.  It gives everyone a chance to retry their strategy too if something didn't work out the last round.  Maybe things'll change up a bit.  Awesome!

There are only going to be two community representatives, yes. During the meeting yesterday we voted in favor of expanding on council's numbers and we were to pick out two staff members to become council on a more permanent basis (until they step down), and we decided that Infra and Salad were two of our better options for something like that. So, naturally two slots for CR became vacant, hence the re-vote.
