Baby 199 / 5,794 Report Post Posted November 14, 2016 I put in an application to Dairy Queen last week and they called me today. I go in Wednesday for an interview and I'm kinda really nervous. I've been trying for a job ever since I turned 16 and I just couldn't find a place within walking distance that was hiring. I even did small local boutiques, but they only wanted seasonal help or they ran the business by themselves. Here's to hoping I get a job whether it be at DQ or not. Bae 2,489 / 41,505 Report Post Posted November 15, 2016 I did something similar to you, except I applied at Walmart as a Cashier. I was called in for interview, to be honest, I was also very nervous despite my friend works there too and was rooting me to relax (didn't work because she was way too excited than I was). During interview, you just have to relax. Inhale and exhale. Most interviews, they ask you about basic questions on how to deal with the situations if there was one, and sometimes instead of asking questions, they let you introduce yourself and work through it. They also check your application with you just to make sure everything is correct and they'll ask you to sign documents to confirm everything is correct. When you're accepted, they'll talk more further through with your schedule. This is just in most cases. For me, I stutter on my question but I passed. credits to @Clavers
 Achievements
Baby 199 / 5,794 Report Post Posted November 15, 2016 Thank you guys! 19 hours ago, FaZe_Jevs said: Pastel, what job are you doing like cashier, cook, or maybe server? I put down any available since I just need a job. I didn't know what I wanted to do, so I actually talked it through with my mom and she told me to put down any available. The Dairy Queen I will be working at though isn't like normal places. It's outdoor. To order you walk up to the window, order your food and leave or sit down outside. The inside is employees only. Baby 199 / 5,794 Report Post Posted November 23, 2016 I got the job! I received my shirts and name tag today along with filling out the necessary forms. I have no idea when I start though. I guess I'll be told when I call for my work permit.

The way I had to get my work permit was through my school; maybe you should stop by the administration at your school and ask about it, or see if there is a "Work Experience" course and the professor who may be facilitating that. I do have to admit that this was years ago when I did it, and I'm not sure how this varies, but it couldn't hurt to be proactive and check if you're not 100% sure. I remember my first jobs, and I was so stoked to read about your interview. My first jobs were super critical pathways for who I became today... I don't care if one was a pizza shop and the other was a cement/concrete research company... I'm super amazed at how they paved the way for my success. Keep up the great work and congratulations! My manager actually called and told me she went ahead and gathered my work permit application and filled out her part for it. I filled out my part. I just need to give it to my school for them to fill out. Thanks though! I really do believe they help shape the future, just like you said they have for you! They're the small stepping stones for everyone's success.
