If you want to see what ping you'd get to the Dallas, TX location, feel free to ping 208.103.169.72. I allowed pings through the firewall so that should work.
You can do this with the following command on Windows Command Prompt or Linux:
ping 208.103.169.72
Thanks.

Hi everyone,
I just wanted to give an update on the situation we had with our GS05 machine. This machine hosts the following servers so far:
- CS:S Zombie Escape.
- Garry's Mod Murder
- Call of Duty 4 HC FFA.
At some point yesterday morning we started experiencing issues with our Docker containers. Basically the required network interfaces weren't showing up in the Docker container. I didn't get to inspect this but this is what I was told. We also started running into DNS issues where queries would take a long time to respond or it would just not resolve host names properly. This resulted in downtime for our game servers.
I believe the first issue was due to a configuration error with our control panel where it would isolate the Docker container in its own network which isn't how we want it setup for now. I don't know HOW this was changed. However, it may have been done manually when trying to fix the DNS issue. Anyways, I've changed it back to what everything should be and that issue is resolved.
The second issue regarding DNS not properly resolving was the main issue I believe. I've spent a while this morning ensuring everything was properly setup, however, nothing was working. We were using Google's DNS (8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4). I ended up contacting our hosting provider to see if there were any changes done to their hardware firewall and it turns out due to some sort of attack, they blocked Google's DNS on their firewall level. Therefore, obviously it wouldn't work. They setup our host machine with the Cloudflare DNS servers (1.1.1.1 and 1.0.0.1) which is why they didn't contact us about this. However, the Docker containers still used Google's DNS. So it wasn't resolving any host names within the Docker containers which is what our game servers are hosted in.
Since I'm currently on my laptop and don't have any source files to the custom Docker images I've built for our game servers, I cannot rebuild the Docker images to use Cloudflare's DNS instead of Google's. These source files are stored on my desktop which is currently turned off right now to use less electric within my apartment. Once I get home, I will look into rebuilding our Docker images to use Cloudflare's DNS instead of Google's.
Anyways, I asked our hosting provider to unblock Google's DNS for now and they said that was fine. So everything is resolving correctly within the Docker containers now and our game servers are functioning correctly.
The Delay
The last thing I want to talk about is the delay. I want to apologize for it. Yesterday I was out from the early morning until later at night due to events happening at my job. I'm currently on a business trip and we had a Happy Hour yesterday where I met many people including the CEO. Unfortunately, the Happy Hour lasted long at the older office and by the time we got done, the newer office was locked and nobody had access to get in. My laptop and stuff was there... So I didn't have any access to my laptop pretty much all day/night yesterday until I came back into the office this morning. I didn't have an SSH terminal on my phone, so I was pretty much useless until I got my laptop back this morning. Unfortunately a very bad time for us to suffer from an issue such as this.
I just wanted to thank @Xy for trying to look into this issue and fix it at the time. Unfortunately, this issue took a bit to figure out and required to contact the hosting provider. As of right now, Xy doesn't have their contact information. However, in the future I'm going to ask our hosting provider if Xy can contact them if there's a critical issue with our GS05 machine.
I am also going to be talking to our hosting provider to ensure these things are communicated properly in the future.
I apologize for this inconvenience and thank you for understanding.

You need to remove the port when pinging the IP.
For example:
ping 216.52.148.47
Thanks.
-
Just an update, the dates will remain the same. However, there will be many after-work events going on next week. Therefore, I may not be available as much during the evenings. Though, we'll have to see.
There is also a possibility I'll have another business trip in November.
Thanks.

Hello everyone,
I just wanted to announce the CS:S Zombie Escape merge with .RU and .COM has been completed. You can find more information regarding the conclusion of the merge here.
The new server IP is 185.177.22.161:27015.
If you were a member, supporter, or VIP in .RU and do not have your proper perks, please read this thread.
Thank you!

Should be VIP. Also on the server I don't even have my member tags either
On the server you appear to be VIP:
41. WarpedCakez custom(3)
We will likely have to check the groups, etc. to ensure they are setup correctly with the flags.
I will also be updating your website rank soon.
I apologize for the inconvenience.
Thanks.

I'm willing to give it another chance especially with the new machine. I will have a talk later with Roy tonight about this.
I wouldn't mind giving it another shot on the new GMCHosting machine. However, I'm not really sure if we have the resources for it right now.
The newer machines come with less RAM (16 GBs compared to 64 GBs). Since we already have a few servers on the machine and plan to possibly put servers such as Rust and Squad on the machine (which can consume a lot of RAM), it would be best to wait to see how things go with the other servers first.
I personally feel there's a high chance the server won't succeed just due to how things are in CS:GO (I explain a lot of issues here). But honestly, it may be worth just running the illegal plugins Valve banned long ago with the CS:GO JailBreak server because Valve won't fix their terrible system, servers still use these to succeed, and these specific servers have a big advantage over servers like ours. And yes, I have tried contacting Valve about this and expressed the community's frustration. I was unfortunately ignored.
But yeah, if we do go with the JailBreak server (and there is a high chance if we have room), I don't mind running those plugins due to what I said above. With that said, I plan to make a major Reddit thread in the near future (future) and address concerns along with recommending my server browser suggestion. A very high chance Valve won't listen, but no harm in trying...
TL;DR - There is a high chance we can get the server back if the machine has room. However, we will have to wait to see because we have many servers on the machine and not as much RAM as our previous machines.
Thanks.

Hey everyone,
I am here to announce the next director! Everyone welcome back @X2D!
For those who do not know who @X2D is, he was a Council member back years ago (2014 - 2015). This was when the Council rank was equivalent to the Director rank now. @X2D has contributed a lot to the community when he was Council and helped build servers such as Garry's Mod Purge and Garry's Mod Murder.
He is back once again to help GFL and push it into the right direction.
I am very confident he will do well!
Thanks.

Hey everyone,
I just wanted to give a heads up. I'm going on another business trip this month to Denver (it was decided today). I will be either leaving the night of the 14th (Sunday) and coming back the night of the 19th (Thursday). This is happening this month (October).
I probably won't be available during the day because a lot goes on within the office. However, I should be available during the evenings and nights.
Let's hope I don't have the worst flight experience ever again (for me) lmao.
Thanks!

Hello everybody,
I am here to announce the two major expansions we are currently working on. We are expanding into the United Kingdom and United States using different hosting providers.
Unfortunately, we've found that OVH has been difficult to expand with. Their support time has been incredibly slow (example #1) regardless of critical issues and their data center located in Montreal, Canada isn't ideal for a majority of players in the United States regarding latency, etc. I do understand their prices are very good (especially for the hardware we receive), but unfortunately their support doesn't meet our needs and our servers struggle to populate partially due to their data center's location.
Therefore, I've decided to go searching for new hosting providers and I've found two that have great setups and a lot of potential in my opinion (especially for GFL). With that said, I get direct support via Steam, Discord, and even TeamSpeak 3. On top of that, both hosting providers have built their own network dedicated to hosting game servers by owning their hardware, etc. This results in lower latency and great (D)DoS protection. Overall, I feel these new hosting providers will do well for us and I am very confident!
The new hosting providers are Croncos (UK) and GMCHosting (US).
I've requested first-month discounts or a custom build with lower specs/prices to start. This is because we are in a testing stage for both hosting providers. I want to ensure our game servers will populate and things will go well with us. Once this is confirmed, we will be upgrading our machines to the machines with the best hardware for best performance.
Before reading - The server lineups could change. This is the expected lineups at the moment.
Side note - Due to additional IPs being more expensive than OVH with these new hosting providers, we have decided to use one IP for most game servers and different ports ranging from 27015 - 27025 depending on the game's engine. We may have to purchase additional IPs for some games due to the firewall filtering. This shouldn't affect population whatsoever. Our very successful CS:S Zombie Escape server ran on port 27017 in the past without any issues.
United Kingdom
We have recently purchased a machine from Croncos. We've purchased the machine for $84.96 the first month. However, afterwards it will continue at its normal price. Here are the specs of the machine:
- Intel i7-4790K @ 4.0 GHz.
- 32 GBs of DDR3 RAM.
- 240 GBs SSD.
- One IPv4 address.
- 10 TBs of bandwidth.
- 1 gbps port.
- Located in London, UK.
- $111.10/m.
- No setup fee.
As mentioned above, the machine is located in London, UK. I've found that this location has a great amount of players. For example, our Garry's Mod Murder server we've setup recently has been doing very well and receiving many NEW players.
If this hosting provider works out, we will likely be upgrading to a future machine with the following specs:
- Intel i7-4790K overclocked to 4.4 GHz
- 32 GBs of DDR3 RAM.
- 480 GBs SSD.
- One IPv4 address.
- 10 TBs of bandwidth.
- 1 gbps port.
- Located in London, UK.
- $130.70/m.
- No setup fee.
The processor being overclocked to 4.4 GHz will surely help the performance of our game servers!
Servers
- Garry's Mod Purge. (will wait for later)
- Garry's Mod Murder.
- Garry's Mod Zombie Survival.
- Call of Duty 4 FFA.
* This is the lineup currently and just a starting lineup. It could change at any time. I will update the post with the GameTracker images when we add the game servers to GameTracker.
If this expansion works out, we will start expansions into more games such as Squad, CS:GO, Arma 3, TF2, and other games. It all depends on how things go.
United States
We have recently purchased a machine from GMCHosting. We requested a custom build for a lower price since I consider this a testing stage. I don't want to buy their most powerful machine without knowing our servers are going to populate. Anyways, the current machine specs are:
- Intel i7-4970K @ 4.0 GHz.
- 16 GBs of DDR3 RAM.
- 500 GBs NVMe.
- One IPv4 address.
- 10 TBs of bandwidth monthly.
- 150 mbps up/down (with 1 gbps burst).
- Located in Dallas, Texas.
- $135.00/m.
- No setup fee.
As mentioned above, the machine is located in Dallas, Texas. This will result in lower latency for a majority of the United States players compared to the OVH's data center (Montreal, Canada).
If this hosting provider works out, we will likely be upgrading to a future machine with the following specs:
- Intel i7-8086K overclocked to 5.2 GHz (six cores).
- 16 GBs of DDR4 RAM.
- 500 GBs NVMe.
- One IPv4 address.
- 10 TBs of bandwidth a month.
- 150 mbps up/down (with 1 gbps burst).
- Located in Dallas, Texas.
- $260.00/m.
- $100 setup fee.
This machine is overkill in my opinion, but that's alright! While it may seem a bit expensive, keep in mind it's six cores and overclocked to 5.2 GHz!
Servers
- Garry's Mod Purge.
- Garry's Mod Murder.
- Garry's Mod Zombie Survival.
- Garry's Mod CWRP.
- Garry's Mod TTT #2.
- Call of Duty 4 FFA.
* This is the lineup currently and just a starting lineup. It could change at any time. I will update the post with the GameTracker images when we add the game servers to GameTracker.
If this expansion works out, we will start expansions into more games such as Squad (moving server from OVH), CS:GO, Arma 3, TF2, and other games. It all depends on how things go.
Overall
I believe this is a great start for us. For example, our Garry's Mod Murder server located in the United Kingdom has been doing VERY well recently! We are reintroducing a lot of older game modes that were loved by many people within the community to see if we can revive them on a different hosting provider. However, we are also in the process of creating servers in newer game modes that have had a lot of success recently. We also plan on getting into many games outside of Garry's Mod if this expansion is successful. I am going to be pushing for Valve to fix their server browser in CS:GO. I am betting that if my suggestion for the CS:GO server browser was implemented and servers that are empty or have a password were removed or moved to the bottom of the server browser, many community servers would start populating again. If this does somehow happen (it would be a miracle considering Valve would need to fix it), we would start a major expansion into CS:GO depending on the results.
Keep in mind again, these are just starting lineups for each machine and things will likely change in the near future.
Anyways, I am also going to be working on a lot of internal projects in the near future. For example, one of the projects has to do with an internal training system. I believe there are MANY things GFL can improve on internally to make us a stronger community. I also understand I need to complete a lot of projects related to the back end. I will be making an announcement at some point regarding the internal changes and so on. I believe starting with these expansions will highly motivate the people within the community and I.
I hope you're happy with this announcement!
If you have any questions or concerns, please reply to the thread.
Thank you for reading.

I will be cancelling this machine very soon. OVH's support takes very long to respond even when an issue is critical (and they've seen the ticket).
Thanks.

Keep up the great work!

Update
OVH is going to be investigating this issue at some point in the near future (hopefully very soon). I've ran the rescue-pro tools finally and all software tests came back OK (no hard drive failures). However, we are still seeing issues with our VMs regarding hard drive errors.
We will wait for OVH's investigation to be done because it requires downtime, etc.
Thanks.

Hello,
Our GS01 machine located in France experienced two host crashes in the past 24 hours. The main VM ended up being booted into read-only mode and entries from the log files indicate this may be a possible hard drive failure (in fact, it likely is).
I've opened a ticket with OVH regarding this issue and I'm hoping they can investigate this ASAP. I've tried booting the machine into recovery mode using OVH's recovery tools to run software that can check the health of the hard drive, etc. Unfortunately, it doesn't appear OVH performed this action (it has been 3 hours now).
The game servers this affects are the following located in France:
- CS:GO Arena
- CoD 4 FFA #1
- CoD 4 FFA #2
- CoD 4 Zombie Mod
I am aware our CoD 4 FFA #1 server is a very popular server:
Therefore I decided to setup another FFA server (with the same settings + additional features) on our GS05 machine. The server's IP is 185.177.22.161:28960. With that said, I believe the server will be finally getting its own dedicated manager soon. More information will be posted on that in the near future.
Unfortunately, the server doesn't have the B3 RCON tool running and it appears the hard drive corruption mentioned above resulted in losing the B3 installation files (it says the directory doesn't exist, etc.).
We were also planning to remove this machine in the near future since we decided to go with another hosting provider. It is likely I will be cancelling this machine before the next renewal (the 1st of next month).
I apologize for this inconvenience.
Once I receive an update from OVH, I will reply back to this thread.
If you have any questions or concerns, please let me know.
Thanks.

Not unless the server updates the player count via live without a restart then this wont really be possible.
If it does update players live then it's not really hard to write a script that gets the current online players, if max then increase the slots by sending an update player amount command to the console.Agreed. We used this mutator to set the maximum players to above 6 players in KF2. This requires setting it through the command line but I'm unsure if it needs to be in the command line/startup script or not.
The mutator equivalent to the one above in KF1 required setting it through the config file (System/MaxPlayers.ini or something like that). That makes me wonder if it was required to set it at the startup.
I'll take a look at the code when I have the time.
Thanks.

Could you try explaining this a little more?
If I have an understanding of what you want to accomplish with this then it shouldn't be to hard to make one for it since I have a slightly working one for Squad.Have it configured so the maximum players is set to 6 until it gets to 5 players. Once it gets to 5 players, it increases to 12 max players. It keeps going up as the server fills to 80 or w/e the actual maximum server size is.
I'm not sure if this is possible in Killing Floor 2. I've tried Googling for a mutator on this and couldn't find anything. I don't believe there's any "visible max players" variable in Killing Floor 2 like there is in most Source Engine games (sv_visiblemaxplayers). Only issue is I'm not sure if we can change the maximum amount of players while the server is running.
Thanks.

[CS:S ZE] Increase Server Performance
in Counter-Strike: Source
Posted
Hi CS:S Zombie Escape team,
I just wanted to suggest something for the server. Although, it's up to you guys.
Currently, the following command is set to 0.
This disables use of the additional thread in the Source Engine for networking. For example, the server is capped to using one full core (100%) CPU. If this command was set to 1, it would use an additional thread for networking and allow the server to go to 150%. I discovered this a long time ago when I noticed the server performance being bad. When I set this to one, it made the server performance better, this was in 2012 - 2013.
I asked Botox why this was set to 0 and he said it was causing the server to crash randomly. We ran this command set to 1 for years without an issue. However, perhaps a CS:S update or an addon/plugin is causing the server to randomly crash when this command is set to 1. I'm not entirely sure.
My suggestion was to see how stable the server was after launch for a week or two. If it's stable and not crashing often, try setting this command to 1 for a while and see how it goes.
Just wanted to throw this out there.
Thanks!
