Hi guys.
So on the old forums I made a post about this so I'm going to repost it now as I see it as a valuable tool not just for TF2 players but for CS:GO and CS:S players as well. This probably won't help Garry's Mod out too much though. There's a YouTuber named "Max Box" who used to record himself and uploaded himself cheating on TF2 where he'd showcase a cheating program named "LMAOBox", a notorious problem for TF2. He's stopped that now and he's decided to help fight against these cheaters by making a YouTube series called "Spot the Hacker".
Just before I explain and get into this, all the footage that has been recorded is from TF2. There are some elements that are just for TF2, such as projectile weapons, but everything else is very useful for ALL first person shooters. Max Box takes footage that has been given to him by subscribers and he reviews them by giving a step by step analysis with normal speed and slowed down versions of the demos. He gets you to try and spot what is wrong and then he goes over exactly why the guy was cheating, possibly pointing out things you didn't expect to see or missed. This is a great way of learning and hopefully it'll really help out our newer admins or admins who want to brush up on their ability to detect hacks. Max Box covers many things such as:
- Rage Hackers
- People trying to hide their hacks + Flaws
-
Aimbots (Hitscan/Projectiles)
- Hard Aim (Full on snap aiming)
- Soft Aim (Human like aiming)
- Silent Aim (No change in camera aiming)
- Wallhacks
- Bunny Hoppers
So you can see why this is very useful. He's done 2 seasons, so to say and I'll link them down below. I urge EVERYONE to take a look at this as these videos are very, very useful.
- TF2 - Spot the Hacker (Part 1? Maybe?)
- TF2 - Spot the Hacker (Episode 2)
- TF2 - Spot the Hacker (Episode 3)
- TF2 - Spot the Hacker (Episode 4)
- TF2 - Spot the Hacker (Episode 5)
- TF2 - Spot the Hacker - S1:E1
- TF2 - Spot the Hacker - S1:E2
- TF2 - Spot the Hacker - S1:E3
- TF2 - Spot the Hacker - S1:E4
Don't forget as I said, most of these are TF2 videos but they still help with other games. Aimbots have the same principle, just that in CS:S and CS:GO you don't have to aim with projectiles so ignore those bits.
Recording a Demo
Just a little tip from me that you can see Max Box using in his videos. If you suspect someone of cheating please record a Demo. If you can not decipher whether or not he is cheating please go back to that demo and slow it down and go over the parts that looked fishy. Having things slowed down allow you to more easily spot cheaters.
- To record a demo open up the console and type "record <InsertNameOfDemo>" and when you're finished open up the console again and type "stop".
- To view a demo open up the console and type "playdemo <NameOfSavedDemo>"
-
To locate a demo on your hard drive navigate to "Steam\steamapps\common\<GameName>\<ShortGameName>"
-
For example:
- TF2 -> "Steam\steamapps\common\Team Fortress 2\tf"
- CS:GO -> "Steam\steamapps\common\Counter-Strike Global Offensive\csgo"
- CS:S -> "Steam\steamapps\common\Counter-Strike Source\cstrike"
- GMod -> "Steam\SteamApps\common\GarrysMod\garrysmod"
-
For example:
I hope this helps someone! Some feedback would be great and If I've missed any sources that are valuable or missed something completely let me know and I'll add it in somewhere!
-
Did you not listen to anything I told you in the shoutbox? It's pretty clear you did not. You would have had this solved ages ago if you had have listened.

going to war with the US would be pointless, being other parts of the world would join to support US with taking down North Korea, I do not see how this would start ww3 it just be a pointless war and I'm sure it would end fast with support from other countries backing US.
You could say that but you'll also have sides that'll team up with North Korea such as China and possibly Russia. Though, the war would be, as you said, completely pointless. It's just one country trying to fit in and pretend to show what they're capable of.

so what do "councils" do?
To be fair, you should really know the basics of what each rank do seeing as you're an admin but no worries, people are here to help. The ranks are going somewhat under a change hence why you've seen new ranks like Technical Admin and the Moderator rank changed to Community Adviser but an announcement will be made on that soon, hopefully.
The Council are the guys who deal with most of the communication in GFL whether it's from inside or outside of GFL, such as sponsors/partners etc. They're there to lead the community in the right direction, promoting community growth, basic (I think) website maintenance and genuinely leading the community as a whole. Just imagine them as a Board of Directors in a business and what they have to do to keep a business alive, excluding the whole making money part.
Division Leaders, such as myself, are responsible for the oversight of a single game and all of its servers. We have 4 games, or divisions, that the Division Leaders are responsible for. I am responsible for overseeing the TF2 servers that we have. We would aid our Managers in running the servers, appoint/demote/training Managers, bug fix and just supervise the Division and its staff. There are other things we do as well but that's the basic gist.
The rank Community Adviser was originally the old Moderator rank. It still somewhat is but with a twist. They're there to give an unbiased opinion on matters held within GFL, throw some advise around here and there and be the guys that stops the Higher Ups from making bad decisions.
Technical Administrators are the guys that run the show behind the scenes. They deal with GFL-Core and all plugins associated with it, Website programming/bug fixing, patching large issues that need to be solved quickly and the likes of that. They're our trusted developers who usually have a a lot more access then normal developers.
7 hours ago, Bae said:Oh, if you're admin, there's a thread in the admin section explaining each and every one of the higher ranks and what they're job is and will be.
And as @Bae rightly pointed out, it's there and pinned so everyone who is Admin+ can see it. Not everything has been implemented yet but hopefully it will be soon.

Also, being a troll in voicechat should be against the rules, as well as starting fights over pointless stuff
You are well within your rights as an admin to mute/gag these people if they're taking things to far.

I went to find an empty Orange X3 server so I could practice my very first rocket jumps as I really wanted to try out a rocket jump that a YouTuber name Muselk preformed. I staid on the server practising it then one day a hacker joined so I asked for an admin to come on line and well @Shuruia comes to my rescue. After a few more hackers and a few more bans from @Shuruia I asked him if he needed any admins to help out with the server. One thing lead to another and well, here I am after almost 1 and a half years of being in GFL.
Good times.

What an intro.

The guy is trying to pull the wool over your eyes here. VAC tries to find changes in the executable file, game memory or files that have been injected into game executable. It also tries to find programs that are directly interfering with the original program. If something is suspicious then it is checked against a database and one of two decisions are made automatically. If it matches the details of a known cheating program they are instantly banned, however if VAC is unsure they send it off to a valve employee who takes a further look into the program and then decides from there. At least, that was how it was explained to me and it makes a lot of sense.
So with that said, a Minecraft server will certainly not interact with any other games. If that was to happen then we'd all be banned for having things like Skype, Chrome and all of that open. MW2 is slightly different. As far as I am aware, in order to create one of these "Fun/Hacked" lobbies you must inject something into the executable to get it working which will most likely get you banned, but that only accounts for one of the bans. It also says he has Multiple bans so it's safe to assume he has 3 or more bans which in this case would most likely be MW2, TF2 and CSGO (I assume he's on about the GMod TTT server?). It unusually tells you if you have 2 or less bans with a figure.
So, in my opinion I think it would be safe to say that he should be denied since he's trying to lie about this bans. That's my opinion anyway.

I have to apologise for not replying her earlier. I've been rather busy with ill family whom are thankfully much better now.

There's not much I can do about that. This would mean I would have to edit the map to make it more optimised, which I can do, but the map is so complicated with triggers/teleport locations/entity spawners almost everywhere I'll end up destroying the map by accidentally deleting the wrong thing and the game mode will just stop working. Though, I'm running a pretty low end laptop and the map is running fine for me. Head onto a Casual Server with 24/24 people on the server and see if you get frame loss there. If so, it's probably not the map and it's your computer.
On 13/07/2016 at 1:49 AM, SouRD said:I really beleive that if theres a way to put a small timer in between each game that the 5 econds
There is. There's a "Speed up" round in most of the mini games.
On 13/07/2016 at 1:50 AM, SouRD said:i feel that the entire time you play here you just speed through the entire game.
Many of the mini games are genuinely supposed to be fast passed. I think @Shuruia summed it up pretty well.
15 hours ago, Burts said:Some minigames just start off without telling you what to do.
I am aware of such an issue and I've been trying to find a solution for a while now. It's for two mini games, Treasure Hunt (Uses the same map as the Avoid the Shark game) and Beat the Heavy (which uses the pinball machine map). I've been in contact with the game developer and he's not experiencing the same issue. I've taken a good long look at the server to try and figure out the problem but I still can't find the issue so if push comes to shove I'll reinstall the game mode onto the server and see if that works.
15 hours ago, Burts said:Some minigames, you can finish and beat them but still it'll randomly count as a fail.
Can you tell me which minigames? There are quite a few out there that you can easily miss by half a second so you think you've completed it when infact you haven't.
7 hours ago, SouRD said:I noticed the Ware rank.. it seems sexist to me. [TF2WareRank] The winner is: The festive velociraptor[aruce9. This is his first victory.
I don't think that's really such a big issue and you're nit picking at the moment. Though, if others find it offensive then I'll change it.
7 hours ago, SouRD said:Im suggesting we input !Bhop
@Shuruia summed that up nicely for me as well.

These servers are stock servers with stock map rotations. An experiment so to say by me and Roy. We're seeing what this latest update can do for community servers and quick play servers.

The Store is currently undergoing a few changes on all of our TF2 Servers. We're going to be using a new Store that is far better for everyoen to use and it's customisable.

Reason for Joining the Team: Pharah and Mercy main and I can also play Junkrat rather well due to my previous gaming experience with TF2. I have hopefully some good stats (check the comp EU). I can also play any other roles too. Main Defence/Second support would be a nice place for me :D4 hours ago, Dano said:@qDogg just added this line:

Note: He has to manually update the stats, so contact him privately or here to update them. I am sure it will be done before the team gets build regardless, but if you'd like to see where you stand with your new stats, notify him.
I'm curious, are competitive stats not being taken into account for this as mine are far better then quick play
Also, would it not be worth looking at hero individual stats instead as opposed to stats as a whole?

Members and above should be able to delete their replies by themselves to avoid problems, and it could save a bit of work from the Mods.
That could cause a few problems. Someone could say something really offensive about someone, that someone replies and then the guy deletes his post making the guy look stupid. Or something similar.
You can always just edit your post and write in something like
"Never mind"
And leave it at that.

Mine had to be one of the first Tomb Raiders on PS1. Ether that or Resident Evil on the PS1. My older sisters boyfriend brought around a PS1 and a load of games he didn't want and gave them to us all. Resident Evil surely scared the shit out of me since I was like 4 years old and I didn't dare to go into this mountain where there we many traps because it scared me too aha. Though, the one time I decided to pluck up the courage and go through it, I made it through but only to be met by a raging bull. I never played that game again.

I don't want to add in anything to do with trading because this could remove our rank from Game Tracker.

Most of these things are to do with the mod so I will have to contact the developer again.
I'll see if I can limit/remove the special round.
