The reason for the water was to delay the zombies, since every previous round after Holy they would end up close to the humans even before the lasers. It was also going to recharge for the last jump but I died on the 4th laser while trying to move forward across the crowd of people. Didn't even pick water in the 1st place at spawn.
Anyway, whatever. Feel free to close this thread

Banned for: item usage
Banned by: VAL3RIO
Steam id: STEAM_0:1:195633391
Player name: Roasted_Rabbit
Why I should be unbanned: Biased admin keeps restricting me on every occasion. Regular player and item user with no previous bans, got 4 restrictions just in the past 2 weeks by VAL3RIO. 1st two - 5 min apart on the same map after missing the timing. 3rd restitution - I get disconnected while holding item, rejoin later on map with no items and get restricted 5 min later. Lastly, restricted for trying something new with the reason "u suck".

In the end, the only way you can get what you want is to sway public opinion, go get a fucking mic and lead man.
One person leading a map cannot swing the vote when the player base changes over time and majority of the server in that hour consists of non-regulars. You can also imagine that such players have limited knowledge of the maps (so either nomination would sound equally cool). In those situations the easiest thing to do is go with the first option (4). There is a huge difference between (1) - no vote and (4) - vote for map X (why would you ever throw away your vote). Yes, there is no guarantee that people would not start spamming (5) instead, but why not give it a shot.
Honestly, I have no desire to lead the team besides just giving occasional instructions in chat. That requires strong dedication. I also don't really care whether the server preserves or avoids the habit of changing maps in the middle, there are plenty of good servers besides GFL to selectively beat maps. The whole purpose of this thread was to bring up something that in my opinion is a bit annoying, to invest time on a map, get to the best stages and then not have opportunity to tackle those. But sure, popular opinion is what drives the server so I guess, whatever
Gfl settings are pretty hard if ya examine a good deal of servers. You'll eventually notice.
Yeah, I did notice that GFL settings are really easy. Just go to a CSS server and you would immediately see the difference

Some of your sentences are incomplete, so im not sure what you're going at sometimes.
I am giving you the examples you asked for. Do you require formal writing or something to get the idea?
47 minutes ago, gkuo88 said:For a server like gfl which has harder settings, its no surprise that its even more despised.
What so hard about GFL settings? The decent knockback? The enabled bhopping? The easy crouch jumps? The rebuys? The lack of fall damage? The unlimited kevlar? Yes, a few more zombies spawn at the beginning but so what.

In the example I gave above only PKMN has real lasers, and you can completely avoid them by going to the sides, so I don't buy your argument. Also it takes literary 2h of practice to learn to dodge lasers.

Just because a map is hard doesn't make it a "shitshow". You prefer maps like atix instead? GFL is far from being a casual server (given that most of the conversations revolve around leading the map instead of some irrelevant topic). SG, sG are doing much better in being casual servers for example, and that's only in NA
1 hour ago, gkuo88 said:Aesthetic is just an excessively hard map, with not really a great rep either. Its a very hard map with a history of losses, so one major fuckup can cause people to quit early. If 40 people get trimmed at the first boss, people will think that this isn't the team. By the time a leader comes in its just too late.
Then let's just give up every time things become hard. Is this the desired GFL mentality?

Proof of burden is on you to show people brainlessly spam 4. If players dont care then they usually dont vote at all. Theres a higher possibility that players simply want to get off the map because they dont like it.
theres a difference between tryharding and stupidity. For example rote will probably remain a noncommon map on all servers because of its stupidious difficulty. Players who like it may choose to not vote for it because they are reasonable. They know without a leader a rote session will end up miserable prompting its popularity to fall further. The same thing probably applies to other maps where people access the situation and decide to save things for another day for the betterment of the server mentality. If theyre still stuck on the same level since the last extend, then it may be a sign to end things there and save it for the next attempt, as continuing to brainlessly run on the same level is not fun and a waste of time.
if you dont like that the server isnt continuing on, then get a mic and lead. If you dont, your standard is insignificant and will not be followed at the expense of the fun of other players.
When you have people like whim, luff, loco leading the team, you are about to beat 2nd rote level before the 1st extend and the team is gaining speed, then the vote comes in and regardless on asking people to extend they change the map to (4) "Doom". Then at 2-0 doom people again don't extend in favor of (4) pkmn and since the last round failed at the end map doesn't get completed. Same story with the next map, play last level at 3-1 with 10+ people surviving lasers, have good team to beat the map with leaders but no extend and map fails. Because people now vote for (4) fapescape, even though they changed the "boring" fapescape rote. Of course by that time most good players leave so you have massive trims and map gets changed again without any progress.
Or, when you are something like 5-2 on a long map like roof adventure or lila panic, but by that time 10-15 randoms join in and become complaining how boring the map is and that people should rtv without even spending 5 min on it. The same get trimmed on the next level and on the follow up vote no more extends, map is incomplete. The same people comment how the surf on the map sux, but then vote for surf sahok 10 min later.
When you vote for maps like (4) arctic escape while you are making progress on good maps and then good players leave because of that. When the server is playing aesthetic (the map that GFL people tend to like), u get to 1st boss with 40 people but get trimmed because they don't know the boss. Then someone who can lead the team joins in before the 1st extend, but guess what, no extend despite asking the people to do so. (4) voted again. This is when the server gets cancerous. And this was just in the past 1-2 days.

Anyway, it's up to you how the server is managed. Just wanted to recommend a way to maybe restore the habit of playing maps until the end. Something to think about if you also become annoyed when all efforts on a good map get wasted

I may be wrong, but i think the GFL server is designed for both "tryhard" players and "casual" players and most importantly players who enjoy a mix of both. What distinguishes this server from other servers is the community involved in and out of the server as well as the custom settings (such as nades, skins and chat tags) not it's 'tryhard map focused teams'
As for the post. I don't think a team is ready for a map that requires an extend/s if a team is mainly compromised of players that just spam 4 no matter what the map, instead of taking the time to contemplate extending by simply pressing 9.
There is community involvement across many good servers (if you refer to server maintenance, up-to-date forums, weekly events, new map testing) both in CSGO and CSS. Also, from what I've seen, GFL has fairly small amount of customization in terms of skins and "coloring" compared to other servers, which is a good thing in my opinion.
Sure, but the team is usually good enough. When your current map score is like 2-0 or 3-1 and people don't extend, it'd be hard to convince me that the team can't at least get close to beating a map. If this was happening once in a while, fine. But this is becoming a standard on GFL, which I've never seen on other servers (maybe only on Net4All but then the admins would always follow up with extend vote and 80+ % of the people would vote to extend the map even though they voted a new map just a min ago)

too much forcused for try harders
I though GFL was supposed to be a server where tryhards complete maps (while new players become better at the game). Otherwise, what distinguishes it from other servers?

Maps are meant to be played 20min max, plus changing them won’t do as much because run-off vote exists.
The 20 min limitation makes sense for shorter maps, but there are a plenty of good maps (especially those with 3+ levels) which are impossible to complete in 20 min
Regarding the run-off vote, I've almost never seen (5) win (and (4) becomes the top-voted map from the 1st iteration), so not sure what is the value in having that 2nd vote

then let's place extend randomly like other nominations. ez.
So you are concerned about people over-extending maps?
GFL players already rtv maps that were either just beaten or the team is failing every round. That said, the duration of most maps would likely not change. However, this would help with multi-level maps when the team is making progress but majority of players don't realize that the last levels are usually the ones worth trying

no
Any good reasons why not, besides "no, cause I don't feel like it"?

In the spirit of beating maps and not just changing them in the middle:
- can you change the voting map list so that (4) is extend instead of (9)
New players have the tendency to spam 4 regardless of the map options and barely any good map gets extended anymore
