  1. uh

I just donated for the teamspeak channel originally ($50 for a channel = totally worth it)

    • let donators have some more forum-specific shit. AFAIK the only thing they get is this "Supporters" section, which is rarely ever used
    • Maybe make more sub-forums for this supporter section, some that are like the ones in the "Administration" section, such as Updates, Ideas, etc.
    • maybe make sure that all, or at least most of our servers have a Custom Tag feature for VIPs, like the one listed on the donation page
    • maybe make it where instead of $8 for VIP for one month, make it where its $15 or $16 for three months, and bump up the supporter price for one month by a dollar - up to $6. It'll encourage more people to buy VIP, which could be better. Just a thought. Scrap the way I worded it, but maybe something like that where VIP for <x> amount of months would be cheaper or more worth than Supporter for the same amount. I.E. VIP for 3 months would be $16 or something, and Supporter is still $5 for 1 month.
    • Maybe increased signature space for people are Supporter/VIP?

honestly, the only thing I want is a left shark icon.

I don't understand how it can be unnecessary to make sure the ones that are suppose to keep our servers clean and be the outwards face of GFL knows the community and it's rules rather then only their server.

Most of them do, that's the thing. Sure, there's always going to be the odd one out or whatever, but surely if they applied for admin and got accepted, then they know how to be mature when they need to.

There's also plenty of people that are admins on a server and don't venture out into the community more. I know two of my admins aren't necessarily known in the community very well (because they stick to bhop only), and that's perfectly fine with me. They applied for the role, got accepted, and proved themselves. I'm not going to force them to memorize the forums rules and other server's MOTDs if they don't want to. If they follow the rules and aren't a dick, it's fine.

Just my opinion on that comment

Hmm. You could also do fun rounds on it. CSS has a lot more features in turn for donator perks. I would be all for it, but I feel we still need to work on our current server base as a whole before doing any sort of expanding.

I'm still trying to be actively working on bhop (adding maps), but currently I've been caught up with school and Battlefield 1 (it's a sick game, by the way). I haven't really been looking into many perks for CS:S, since I've been caught up with stuff.

I still don't see why we're using the "work on our current servers first" reason for not expanding into certain areas. Garry's Mod was doing bad for a while? We still expanded into Rust and PVKII, and Rust turned out great! It's not like we'd be taking everyone's attention to set up one server. It'd need a DL, Roy (or a BoD, not sure how that works), and a selected manager with a few admins. How hard can that be? It shouldn't/wouldn't hurt the whole community to add another server.

On a side note, I'd like to also point out that the majority of those dust2 servers are located in Russia. Maybe we can expand into it once we get that OVH box in Europe?

  4. I like the idea for maybe some of the bigger servers that get a ton of applicants (I.E. TTT, Purge, ZE, etc.), but don't really see the point of making every server do it. If anything, it should be up to the manager(s) whether or not they have the interview. I know I personally wouldn't hold an interview if someone were to apply for bhop (What would I ask them, their average speed while bhopping?), and I can almost guarantee that some other managers also feel this way.

TL;DR Let the managers decide if they want to do it or not. Other than that, good idea.

  5. oi.

My proposal is that we open a Dust2 server for CS:S. Now, I could totally just recommend this idea to @Thomasdavid097 and @Dano (which I already did), but I figured it'd also get more attention/suggestions by making a post.

Now why Dust2? If you look at the Gametracker for just searching maps that include "dust2", 58 out of the top 100 servers are on Dust2. Now, surely it isn't just a coincidence. And why not, right? It wouldn't take a lot of resources (I assume), it's a pretty basic idea, and it has a lot of room for customization (about as much as Surf RPG DM, so it wouldn't be hard to get ideas for donator perks), and it's an idea to expand into more popular gamemodes in CS:S (since we won't expand into a different popular one).

Just an idea I've had for a while. Feel free to give suggestions/criticism.

  6. Although it seems like a good idea, I wouldn't recommend adding it. Crafting multiple items is the only limitation to doing anything; if it was a Battlefield server I might recommend it (since that's supposed to be fast paced), but I don't think it'd be great for Survival

For those of you who want to play piano, pick it up now while you can. It's probably the best instrument to learn because it well surely help in learning other instruments (except maybe guitar due to having to learn chords) as well as improve your music ability. Piano got me this far (this is what I'm learning):

    -snip-

try me, I could play this.

  8. I used to be able to play a pretty mean recorder... then I lost it

Other than that, I've played Trombone for about 3~ years in my school's bands, which included Marching, Concert and Jazz. Most of my friends at my old school were also in the band, and my teacher was pretty chill. Jazz band was definitely my favorite class. I haven't touched my instrument since May, since we moved and there's no "online band", no need for me to touch it.

I've always wanted to pick up an instrument such as the Trumpet or Saxophone (mainly cause of Jazz band), they seem cool.

I'm waiting for the guy who's gonna make the "Tromboner" joke.

The thing is: the nvidia experience center and "Share" aka Shadowplay cause A LOT of video lag, also its' videos are huge in size, just today I deleted around 300gb of recordings of BF4.

(If you've got an older GPU)

I don't really have either of those problems, unless you count a 10 hour video on my computer from when I accidentally left the recording on, and even then that's only around 75gbs

  10. If you have a NVIDIA graphics card, I would recommend just using Share (what used to be known as Shadowplay). I haven't really used Share, but when it was Shadowplay I always preferred using that over other software such as OBS. It records games such as CS:S really smooth (which I assume that's what you're going to be recording, much like Joshy did/does), but it doesn't work that well with CS:GO (it might just be my graphics card or something). Here's a video of me using it when I was first trying to figure out how to use it (ignore the awful bhopping, I was a little rusty and in a rush to try and figure it out, cause it was really late).

If you have an AMD like you said you think you do, ignore this post. It might be useful to some other people though.
