  1. Well I can't be having anyone on here being more pretentious than myself 🤪 get off my train!!

    Spoiler

I don't think there's anything unwise with describing yourself with the parameters you listed off...  maybe even aligning with it a little bit too if they wanted to.

    Describe this banana!

Oh, by the way, to show you wisdom and make you think...  describe it without colour, weight, shape, size, nutritional content, and its killer status.  Really understand what this banana is without these "superficial" high level labels society uses to describe the banana.

Nah.  It's still a banana.  It's not unwise to say that the banana in the picture is yellow although it did threaten me if I exposed its killer status so I'll hold off on that for now.

  2. I don't know the names of all the genres very much anymore, but basically anything that's Kygo, Imagine Dragons, Twenty One Pilots, Electric Lights Orchestra ELO (I know it's old), Panic! at the Disco...

From a wikipedia search I suppose deep house and progressive/electro pop?

  3. A late welcome from me too.  It's been so long since I've played, that a lot of people don't recall that I'm one of the ZE folks although I haven't gotten a desktop yet... always a laptop... so my experience on CS:S was much better than the few visits to CS:GO.  I'm sure plenty of us are edgewarriors though unless you enjoy the warmth of being a door hugger, which is okay since we need to people to actually trigger the next part.  Maybe I'll return one day.  Hope to see you around 🙂

  4. I have some great memories there.  Hard to see all the horrible things on the news.  I was only there for a few months and left just a few days before Hurricane Harvey hit.  Saw the large 100+ car pileup that was far from where I was ever from, but have seen some terrifying pictures of areas I was more familiar with.

  5. Oh, gosh... that is hard to remember.  It may have been Poltergeist or Child's Play 3...  maybe they weren't the first, but probably earliest ones I can recall that spooked me when I was little.  They're classics so I'd be really surprised if people haven't heard of them.  My parents don't usually like horror movies, but they had that one for some reason.  We never had Child's Play 3, but we use to travel a lot as kids and would watch movies at the hotel often.  I'm pretty sure I saw that one while at a hotel, but don't recall exactly when.  I couldn't even remember which Child's Play it was I had to look up the death, which was the man crushed by the garbage truck.

  6. This is a very good thread.  Thanks for posting it!

The dream for me would be instead of pointing to help or having available ears..  we can also all work a little bit on not instigating the need for help.  A little compassion can go a long way.  If you don't like an idea...  that's fine.  Attack the idea... not the person.  I hear a lot of times that this is just a gaming community and I have some massive news for the folks who say that: Yes.  We already know that; however: the things we say and do here can still have a very big impact, and just as mentioned above it's very reasonable for people to feel more affected during these trying times.  When we push just a little bit or squeeze in one more act of negative behaviour we're working with a moving threshold and we only need to be wrong once just a little bit for permanent consequences.

We're not asking you all to be therapists.  We're not asking for perfection or for you to be a saint.  Not asking for you to calculate every tiny move you make.  Just try to be an okay human being and realize that there are a lot of thoughts and emotions behind the keyboard and you don't know what others are going through.  Think 2-3 times about it if you can, and try to do the right thing.  There might not always be a right answer and you might not know what to do, but just do the best you can and at least get the little things out of the way.  If something happens or it's inevitable try to stage yourself for the confidence that you did the best you could.

  7. Oh gosh same here.  I thought I was going to have hard time listing three games... now I can't figure out how to narrow it down.

I definitely still play RuneScape online.

Super Smash Brothers Melee on gamecube has so many great memories.

Pokemon games on gameboy also have a lot of great memories.

  8. The applications were very good this round!  Two of them were outstanding and so even if you didn't get in this round I think a lot of you have potential for future openings.  Great job and welcome to the team!

    edit:

I've locked and unpinned this because applications are closed.

  9. Oh my gosh Gattaca is one of my favourite ones.  I'm going to admit this: It is not action packed at all, and the movie is old...  you'll have to really be into the story for it.

It's not blowing the movie to kind of tell you the plot.  If you're into dystopian that's exactly what it is.  In the story people are born into the careers based on their blood (things like life expectancy and good health).  If they have a higher probability of things like a heart attack, then their career opportunities are garbage.  The main character wants to become an astronaut.
