  1. I would like to see whoever has the most post count for the day, or most reputation points, or both...  I would like their posts either real-time during day or the following day if it's easier... that their posts are highlighted or there is a crown/badge temporarily added to their posts.  The idea is flexible can be a leader, can be top 3, can be based on the current day, or based on previous day...  whatever is easier and people like the most :) just something along these lines.

The highlighting I'm referencing I think I saw something like this and it's very similar to the red highlight when a thread is hidden: https://invisioncommunity.com/news/product-updates/post-color-highlight-r974/

Something like this if JG got the most post count for the day either that day or the previous day (whichever is easier to implement) then suddenly their posts will temporarily glow for the day

    or maybe a crown instead

    or both?

What do you guys think, and would something like this be easy to implement?  I think highlighting or badges might be easy by itself, but automating it might be hard.

  2. Thanks, guys!

They are definitely excited about taking in new people too.  Very excited.  It's a great time to help join us and create the community the way you wanted- share your vision.

Some of my most common feedback is the visible forum activity is too low.  The last team had a little bit of a problem in that domain and I don't think it would be a good idea to go full circle there.  I see a lot of you guys lurking on the forums a lot I trust you're super active behind the scenes and ready to share your ideas.  Please join in on the discussions!  So many of you all I wanted to basically post on the application saying "Yeah, this one is an easy yes!  +1" but if post count is low... or high quantity of low quality posts, then we're really going to have to struggle and discuss on it.  Make it easy for us :) we want you on the team.

  3. Please do not use names!

Updates have been very polarizing and it looks partially related to this.  I wanted to have some constructive discussion about this.  Normally something like this would be a secret thread (a long time ago that is), but you guys should have a say what you want for the community you joined.

What are your thoughts about having multiple roles?  When does it become too much and why is it bad?

To play the Devil's advocate I can tell why it would look good.  When I'm at work in real life a lot of people join 1-2 projects maximum and they put everything into it.  The real superstars work on 4-5 high profile projects, and they are usually the runner up for promotions if they do a good job.  Their applications look really good.

If you wanted to draw the line somewhere... a cap... how many roles should be the maximum and what should we do if people want to switch roles or do more for the community, or what should we do if we want to make exceptions for people?

  4. Can you guys use the HTML/Tables or indents?  I had to use >> instead.

I would merge the Rules and Punishments together.  All in one.  Less scrolling.  Makes it look like one rule instead of having to bounce up and down to get the rule followed by a different section for the recommended punishment.  Example:

    Necroposting

Do not post on topics that have not had a response in over 3 months without a good reason (Suggestion threads are an exception, as they are considered “in-progress”)

    >>Any Amount of Offenses: The user will be issued a warning point* that will expire after a week and the thread will be locked.

    Spamming

Do not engage in the spamming of status messages, topics, posts, private messages, or anything similar.

    >>1st Offense: The user will be issued a warning point* that will expire after a month and the post(s) or shoutbox message(s) will be hidden/deleted.

    >>2nd Offense: The user will be issued a warning point* that will expire after a year, the post(s) or shoutbox message(s) will be hidden/deleted, flag the user as a spammer, and enable moderated content for one month.

    >>3rd Offense: The user will be issued a warning point* that will expire after a year, the post(s) or shoutbox message(s) will be hidden/deleted, and will be restricted from posting content until appealed.

    Private Matters

Do not discuss anything confidential with another user in public. Keep any personal disputes that you may have with other members out of public forums.

    >>Any Amount of Offenses: The user will be issued a warning point* that will expire after a month and the post(s) or shoutbox message(s) will be hidden/deleted.

I have a lot more suggestions but I think I'll just give the punchline instead of explanation...  I would reword Punishment to Resolution; I would also reword Offense to Level.

  5. I thought someone posted this one before, but I couldn't find it.  Aurora brought it up on Discord... seemed fun to see where I might land and how it compares to the rest of the community community.

Casual poll on the top would be nice if you could say where you landed or you can just guess if you don't want to take the test?  I'm going to assume nobody lands right on the line so if you do just pick the one you like better ;)

  6. I was like damn 2020 just keeps getting more shit.  Then I saw off-topic and looked at Roy's comment.  It took like 2 hours for it to click that I need to ask someone for help and so I had salad explain it to me 3 times.

Poor Roy getting trolled on for his old post.

  7. Almost all roles are redundant.  When you walk into a big store we'll just say Walmart for example I'm going to take a stab in the dark and say there's a Store Manager there.  Would it make sense on a regular basis to have them greet you at the entrance, do the sales pitch, offer you technical support, take you to check out, ring you up at the checkout, check your receipt at the exit, then put all the carts away and get back to restocking the merchandise and answer the phones if there are any calls?  I'm pretty sure they could do it.

I know I'm exaggerating, but the point is that any other employee is redundant, right?  Yes.  You have all of these redundant teams (like the writing team) so that not everything is relying on a small few to preserve the flow; it also helps with the cycle of leadership.  When our current leaders move away from their position someone else has to fill in their shoes...  definitely been behind the scenes myself both in GFL and even in real life opportunities and I've got to tell you that it is a really something great when someone has been doing these redundant roles and you're looking for the next leadership team member.

Another problem with this way of thinking is only thinking about what needs to be done.  It's not a great way to think.

  8. It would be difficult to respond because the team is so small right now and they just got a new team leader.  What you can do by joining it is not only help it grow, but you could help shape it into a useful and create team.

I personally have an idea I think it would require a much larger team, but a small team could start on it or drive it.  There was a big change recently (mod team and introduction of PR) and so I am waiting for a few fires to burn out and settle down first before I start tossing idea grenades in.

  9. Hey!  There's another launch today on the SpaceX dragon!  I think the launch is just a little bit before 7:30 pm EST.

I've met one of the astronauts, Victor Glover, so I think this is cool (I posted a picture here).  The last event my little brother went to it he drove from GA his video was pretty cool so hopefully a few of you are more fortunate to possibly see it with your naked eye.
