Darn autocorrect changed it from Joshy to JGuary. Sucker >:D hehehe

I look back and I feel like I'm becoming more dumb than I was before; so at least you're going in the right direction

I don't know the type of cats. I really like(d) my cat(s). One of them passed away very recently and I really liked that cat a lot. Here she is.

This is in off-topic so I genuinely thought this thread was a joke. My apologies if you were offended although I felt like nothing I said was rude.

Tbh there probably is something like this but idk
I consider this to be one of the bigger problems in the community and the leadership. It's too detailed and very scattered, and so it causes problems like these. We "need" new sections and titles for everything, and then we "need" guides on where to find it and how to use it. Eventually: These guides will be buried under more crap and we'll need guides on how to get to these guides. The better strategy is to consolidate. Make things more intuitive. We already have what you're describing. I think it use to be on or near the top. It's still on the front page, but it requires scrolling because now it is near the bottom. Sadly... even that section has subsections and you'll find a large duplication of efforts.

I can't tell if you know about sarcasm or not

third of all: even though you want a non toxic free community, toxic free community's are more targeted to the trouble makers.
It's counter-intuitive, but I've definitely seen that. Great observation. It's a difficult balance between wanting to enforce some reasonable rules, but not being so harsh as to attract the trouble makers who are highly amused by any response (mutes, bans, and especially nothing when no admin is present to do anything).

I hate it when I don't know about something. It's a good thing I'm not arrogant or anything like that and I know everything. I am the best and everybody loves me.

Has been suggested several times before. I don't remember why nothing happened? It didn't seem like anyone was against it... just seem to sputter and fade away. You might see other verbiage used for it such as "map pack"
edit:
I'd also like to make it clear, that I support this idea.

While I was more involved I was a US citizen studying in the UK so balancing these naturally worked out for me because I'd be more interested being online during odd hours to talk to friends and family, but normal hours for me were aligned with EU; I was not sleeping well because I'm an engineering student
I would say on a typical day I sleep 4-5 hours, and no, it's not okay for me and I'm frequently tired.
Do you guys have plans on how to minimize this natural exclusion? It's certainly at no fault of your own, but it is a problem. I think this will be straining on Community Representatives you have suggested it's something for them to think about, and I certainly wouldn't want to worry or care about at it all if I were applying for a temporary role that threw me into possibly nasty political scene.
Will it simply be posting notes? Maybe not just notes, but forward the topics into threads and leave a window of opportunity for people who missed the live event to say something.
Something else that's concerning to me is that it feels a lot like this structure is very focused on making decisions; it feels like it's missing that real community aspect of it where people are actually working on something or doing something. Is it more important that you have the person that says "Yes, let's have weekly game nights on Discord" or do you prefer the "I'll host weekly game nights on Discord". I feel like this decision focus is more interested in the first person rather than the second person, but if there's no second person to host the events, then the decisions mean nothing.

Two or three flies have visited our apartment. We're not thrilled about that, but we're thrilled about our new purchase; we'll give them a little snacky snack.

I also got to go to work the other day. Wow it has been a while! She's use to me working from home so we did a little video chat. It was a particularly good day because the air quality wasn't bad that day and I spent most of my time outside.

The problem with this way of thinking -- in my personal opinion -- is that it's very reactive. It waits for it to become a problem; that's when it's very difficult to recover. I see a huge critical gap it's one of your biggest divisions along with GMOD and has some of the bread and butter servers, but even in the Community Representative thread the initial plan is to not use TAs as a CR or directly as Council members, but your response here suggests that the plan is for a TA to carry out very important role as an effective DL.
Directors (and I'm not saying you in particular) have had an extremely bad history of feeling burned out. It's not to say that you are or promise that you will feel that way, but just taking a look back... I think these concerns are very fair. CS:GO DL in the past have also been very controversial and difficult shoes to fill.
I recommend you strongly consider another DL that is dedicated to those servers right away. Again, repeating my personal opinion: I think this is a really bad mistake and foolish to repeat it again.
Edit:
Just do the right thing.

I've been a fan of Leks. Parabens not sure if I can spell it right.
Do you guys have plans for a dedicated CS:GO Division Leader. Director/DL has never worked in the past; not sure if we can expect for anything different should this be the plan.
-
Yikes. Too early for me. Otherwise: I'd at least visit out of curiosity.
-
I personally don't think transparency is a problem here.
When you're hearing and seeing nothing... that's usually what it is.
Fun fact: Usually doesn't mean always. Don't get so upset.

I think trying to pull in members is not a terrible idea and is a very noble one; it's great to see admission that's a new idea that's being worked out, which is okay, but the questions I'm asking will hopefully trigger some dialogue. I do hope it works.
I don't understand why you have Staff positions that are not Council, but they cannot apply for Community Representative. If they wish to apply and people are interested in voting for them, then why not? Without the opportunity or potential to become Community Representative... that makes those positions worse than being a Member almost similar to being a visitor the website without an account. Even the US Vice President can vote during tie breakers in the Senate. Plus eliminating that rule is less details to hassle just make things easy and tune only if you have to.
How will you hold people accountable for not fulfilling the 6 months? Even for non- Community Representative positions we don't seem to hold people responsible nor accountable for their brief time and broken promises (6 months seems quite long); if anything: leaving before being unable to deliver on those promises are have more positive outcomes compared to directly failing in the past, and so we've seen people repeatedly request their former roles and leave again. I don't think "You will never be able to apply again" is going to do the trick. We've made plenty of threats like that and it has almost never stood.
Great effort to get community members into Staff discussions. Another good idea that wouldn't require too much effort is to get Staff into the community. I'm talking about actually posting (often) on the greater forums in the public eye, pushing hidden discussions out to the public eventually "declassifying" them; also, if they play any games on GFL, then they should play. Not everybody can be Oz behind the curtains that's just no fun and this makes people feel like the team is full of non-caring robots behind the scenes who only care about the colour on their forum name and a few permissions they'd like to abuse every once in a while.

@Duc2000 good luck. Even moving 100% the speed of light it would take you 100,000 years to travel across the entire Milky way.
@Joshy I swear you have an abundance of life stories. I should read into some Steven Hawking books in the future. I could read some on my phone if they were free to read, I don't have anything better to do haha.
Being cheap inherently costs more. Be careful with free. I've seen the book a dozen times at used book stores you could probably get it for < $10 even the really cool one with pictures. Something about having in your hands is very nice too. Here's the one I see on Amazon:
Here's a page to give you a taste of it. The copy without illustrations was good too, that's the one I read although I bought this one for my girlfriend because she does not have a scientific background like I do, which is okay.

Sorry I didn't read all of it. I did get pretty far... about half way. You might find TRAPPIST 1 to be an interesting topic and relevant topic.
https://www.nasa.gov/feature/jpl/new-clues-to-trappist-1-planet-compositions-atmospheres
Have you also read a "A Brief History of Time" by Stephen Hawking? Of all my travels and adventures in real life this was one of my failures purely out of bad luck... I was attending Imperial College London while he was visiting, but they had a raffle system that was about 50:50 of getting to go. I was not selected. I even tried visiting Cambridge and the local restaurants as I heard he was around often, but I was not lucky even once. He died while I was reading his book. It was quite painful because when you read his book there is so much energy, personality and emotion in it. Some parts of the book can get a bit technical, but I think he does an excellent job describing it in as plain English as possible. I do think you wont need to have a physics background in order to make it through and appreciate the book. I recommend it.

There's a much older thread on this. Might a be a good idea to consolidate the answers by merging the thread although I have no strong feelings about it.
edit: I see a confused response. It's because they merged the thread so the old link doesn't exist anymore.

Good idea. Good idea with the VIP and 12 hours. This sounds like a very cool opportunity. You're loaded with ideas I know a lot of them wont work, but that's okay; I value that you have and share them, and if you're persistent enough maybe one will be able to pan out one golden one worth a fortune. You can do it! Good luck, Dominic. Thanks for your already large efforts and contribution (Zayne included).

Looking past the instigative nature of your comment, your example represents a false equivalence...
Oh, it's a false equivalence? I didn't realize you paid for it. I'm sorry for my mistake.
edit:
The thing is, that nobody promised that perks aren't subject to change. They are adopting a system that works everywhere else and is known-good. This thread is treating this reasonable change as a scandalous major bait and switch and they've swindled you out of something- talk about something being false. You've lost nothing from this change; you're just not benefiting or gaining from it anymore (at no expense).
They are not treating unpaid members and regulars as unwanted trash; they're just not catering to every demand.

Remember the good times when Pluto was a planet
thanks for introducing yourself on the forums! That sounds roughly around the time I was beginning to visit too.

All other communities I've ever visited have reserved slots for the supporters and VIPs. Some of them do vaguely push away their "loyal players", but it's completely independent of reserved slots (I've never seen a complaint like this elsewhere). It's a known-good system that has been working for a long time I'm surprised they didn't adopt it sooner. It does not surprise me that clicking a checkbox and entering your name on the website makes members feel more entitled than supporters and VIPs maybe you should complain at a McDonalds when the person who pays for a Large Fries gets more than you when employees hook you up with a free small one... at least you've been going there for years? Let me know how that works out.
-
I've had a good experience visiting their community. I'm interested to see how this idea pans out; I'm not horribly concerned.

Holy smokes it looks good. ARNOLD! Plus I actually think Robert Pattinson isn't too bad of an actor I resisted watching Twilight for a long time... girlfriend made me watch it... now I'm team Jacob. Another good note is that it does not come out in 2020 which means it probably wont suck like this year.

I thought it would be fun to share that while I was in France I went to go watch Star Wars: Rogue One. I was stunned when the movie was in English and only had French subtitles.
