awps only: awps with insane knockback (think old headshot knockback) would be extremely broken but fun
WC3 mod: Gain levels and powers every damage you deal/take without dying. Haven't played on a WC3 server in more than a decade, would be fun to bring back as a map mod
laser grenade: one random terrorist gets a flashbang that throws out a laser on explosion (might be impossible to code in)

I probably wouldn't have joined even if it was old rules (haven't played santa extreme enough to contribute and i never liked diddle) but ever since I heard about the donator rule being implemented last week I knew it was gonna be pay to play. I understand why it would be in effect for this event, as it is a special anniversary event with the two biggest unbeatable maps but in my opinion it was a mistake to do so in the first place. It would be especially bad if this sets a precedent going forward with events being de facto pay to play. Payment should never be a requirement to participate in a public server, even during the most tryhard of events. That's what this event turned into.
This server shouldn't go out of its way to alienate its base, as cancerous as it is. Yeah we might have annoying spergs like banjo blast and myself, and one or two people like (allegedly) dekes who has a map named after him, but it's a hell of a lot better than servers infested with 12 year olds and furries. This is literally the only CSGO server with a healthy playerbase 24/7, and it's been that way for years. Trying to milk money by restricting events instead of benefits like skins and reserve slots might backfire long term. Hell, it might not because too big to fail.
On an aside, I agree with fetty in that there are gonna be some charge-backs if P2P events stick. Will be interesting to see what the fallout is from that.
TLDR: This past event was, in my opinion, a misstep that can easily be fixed. Just don't do it again loooooooooool.

Yeah ur right, it's most likely on a map by map basis. I notice that some maps you gain less speed straferunning than others. I think that one map i played on had a friction setting high enough to make it slower than regular running, might have been a map test i forgot
-
Just noticed that when you strafe you lose a little bit of velocity, so now it's not worth it anymore. I know it's consistent with all the other servers now but now it feels like bhopping is even more powerful now. Just my 2 cents.

Is it that hard to sign out?
Well if you don't want to get spammed notifications...
https://gflclan.com/notifications/options/
Go there and turn off all the notification messages / email.
Then you click sign out and you uh can block the website from ever going in there or as a recent history listing.
As to your second post, what do you mean by
the highlighted part?
First part, that's not the issue. I couldn't give a fuck about notifications. It was never about "signing out". It was about deleting my account.
Second of all, what if there's a security breach in the future? Odds are I won't know about it and it could bite me in the ass hence the "cleaning up accounts" phrase. I don't know why y'all are so apprehensive as to why you don't want to delete my account. At least give me the option to delete it if you don't want to do the dirty work.
-
i mean i'd rather not just "not use it". I've been cleaning up my accounts and i'd rather have this account deleted than it being up and potentially being a risk. Just my 2 cents

Hit the nail on the head. In regards to player mentality, you are completely correct. I feel like this mentality is a mix of immaturity and egoism. Also, I feel like map pool is completely important here. And both really do feed into each other. It feels like the newer maps are drifting away from the team based zombie escape of old and turning more into how many fucking lasers you can stuff into a map. Now of course there are exceptions, but that feels like the norm right now. Maybe the desire for a higher skill ceiling led to this. Maybe the influx of these maps led to a worsening of this mentality. It's probably a little bit of both.
A side note on immaturity. I'm certainly guilty of being a dick when I should be leading or helping lead. Hell honestly I've been probably the one of the most guilty when it comes to starting beef, starting shouting matches, and igniting general autism and cancer. Autism and cancer can be fine when it's spread out, non fixated, and sporadic, but when someone comes on and becomes a focal point for that, it becomes ugly and can turn into bullying. Remember Eugene Simmons? "I eat the wings, not the sauce." He was kind of a bitch and in turn received a lot of ribbing, including from me. I'm pretty sure he handled it kinda fine, maybe he bottled it in IDK. Maybe he deserved it, maybe he didn't, but we only think about ourselves. Imagine in his boots. That one seemingly harmless comment you make becomes 100 made to him. He was a focal point for that shit. And cancer begets more cancer. I wasn't there when angry soccer mom came in, but if I recall the ass chewing was so bad he never came back on the server again. For every eugene there's dozens of the nameless first timers who've been scared away from the server, either from the atmosphere, or from getting insulted. And that isn't healthy for the long term survival of GFL ZE, and consequently ZE in the west. IDK what's happening in possession and if that's the case over there, if anyone knows feel free to chat in. As a whole, I'm not sure how GFL can retain its individuality and trademark without scaring away everyone. And on the flipside, I'm not sure how GFL can change without selling out or wiping away everything that made it unique. It's a tough situation. I'm not asking for GFL ZE to be a safe space here, just a tweak in mentality to be a bit more welcoming to newbies.
To be more specific on the maps and how I dealt with them; I felt like when I wasn't focused on igniting cancer, I want to say I tried my best to help, whether it's helping lead or in some cases leading. Specifically, in maps like Frostdrake, Santassassination, Predator (see a trend here?), and recently in rizomata where the goal is to get as many people to the end as possible. Of course the main exception to that is pirates, where a slightly difficult boss mixed with unfair health sliders and easy trim mechanics led to the winning move in this game theory resulting in widespread trim. I was a huge dick in pirates. Holding heal, letting trims happen, lvl 3 wall blocking killing 20. In the newer maps with either really hard bosses, bosses with broken health scaling, or lasers at the end, or lasers at the middle, or lasers at the beginning, or lasers all over the fucking place, this trend has been magnified. Maybe not so the trimming, but with elitism associated with trimming. Now there are other, usually old maps like island escape, jurassicpark, lostworld, and icecap where you have fun trolling other people, but those maps don't really count as much since they're old as fuck and extremely easy to complete, even for new players. However, it still contributes to a miasma in mentality that some people carry over to try-hard maps.
Now, to answer the OP's question. Nothing really drives me to play ZE anymore. That's why I don't play as much, if at all.

frostdrake tips from a pro
1) don't die.
2) don't act like a cool kid and jump the gaps because you will die.
3) if you don't know how to strafeclimb ladders (look all the way up with your left or right side touching the ladder, then hold W while strafing against it) you will die.
4) never do the parkour part because you will die. just trust the defense then immediately strafe climb the zombie ladder once it appears
5) on the final 60 second hold before the boss get behind the stacks of boxes and prefire an angle above the box you jumped over. don't try the box jump if you don't know how
6) the boss is easy once you know the pattern. All callouts are with respect to your back facing the gate and front facing the zombies. It goes LRRLLRRLLRRLLRRL and so on. Don't stay in the middle as you will get hit by the dives and the ice crystals.
7) defend the zombies then jump off the perch gg ez.

Or we can just scramble the map votes for each player.
For Example. On nomination #2 Mia Khalifa has the map Frostdrake and Alexis Texas has Wanderers Palace. So when loud mouth is shouting "Vote for 222222" they each pick something different.
wouldn't change a thing. they'd just scream "vote wanderers" or "vote frostdrake"

alright i would be fine with an automatic 1 minute wide silence but i've lost rounds due to it coinciding with an important mechanic leaders are unable to call out. Also, people would just spam one minute before the nominations or plant seeds in the server by saying platformer ready or jurassic ready or gris ready or whatever ready. People would easily adapt to that. I feel like this some of this is also rooted in how we have like 100 maps but a 15 map gap before you can replay something. I'd say for one week try out something like a 25-30 map gap between nominations and see how that would affect the player base. I feel like if it goes according to plan that map diversity would skyrocket, especially in regards to the easier 5-10 minute ZE levels. I think that the ZE server is strong enough to try something like that.
Or we could permasilence fidler. bernie bernie bernie
