if its about opening up to more players and improving ping for others why the fuck would you choose the uk and not central europe
I am thinking, the server should be moved to South Africa next to get even more diversity

I've updated the tool with the above suggestions. To summarize the functionality:
You can specify and track maps either by polling Gametracker/Gamestate or directly querying the server. You can add custom servers (not limited to GFL) - more or less what the web-tool supports.
In addition, you can list recently-added maps, set minimum player count and active hours (maybe leave it running overnight and get awaken after some hour) for notifications. Also add restriction based on number of active "regulars" (user-specified players) or maybe stalk someone ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
There are also links to the major even threads (scraping events directly is not easy), but this should give some sense of the ongoing events.
The 2 major limitations are: You can track no more than 2 servers at a time and Recent maps are polled only from Net4All fastdl (GFL one doesn't have proper map timestamps, nor it covers CSS)

Let me know if you discover any issues. I might upload the source to github instead later on.

for some reason i couldn’t answer the “9000 miles - Pendulum” because it said that i could only answer with numbers and no letters
Oops .. xD
I was wondering how would you not recognize this mako song, yet know about the ex3 one

The challenge is now over. You can find the list of maps associated with the above songs in the attachment below (plus the correct guess rate).
There were 2 submissions, so both have been awarded with VIP. Enjoy
1. Light - 32 correct pick
2. Yudi - 26 correct picks

Awesome, the web-tracker is more or less what I was looking for (before writing the tool) - a way to monitor for maps across servers.
Also, thanks for the suggestion. I am curious what information can be queried from the server. In particular, the other info I generally look for is whether new maps are added to the rotation, if there are any scheduled events, whether this is a casual or try-hard hour and when, roughly, a certain map would be available for nomination, across few servers ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Basically, if I am going to spend time on ze, it should worth it.
I don't envision such client-side tool actually querying the server directly. More of a tool -> [web] service -> server style of communication. Anyway, might give it a try.

If anyone is interested, this is a tool I wrote to notify if a specific map is being played on GFL at the moment. Couldn't find similar feature anywhere else.
The tool is a very basic jar file (with GUI) - you just specify a list of map names. The tool periodically pings https://www.gametracker.com/server_info/216.52.148.47:27015/ and https://www.game-state.com/216.52.148.47:27015/ to fetch the current map and if tracked - plays a notification ringtone. The only prerequisite is to have java run-time installed (I am running it on Windows without issues).
If you want to try it, I've added the jar file along with the java source code below (feel free to modify (e.g. if you want to track different server than GFL) or let me know if there is already another way to get notified on maps).

Can nades be disabled? That will surely add to the challenge
I doubt we can beat a_e_s_t_h_e_t_i_c without nades. They would be crucial for the 2nd boss and final holds.
This map is already challenging enough. You cannot really afford losing humans along the way. Yet, it is fairly common to lose people on the jumps or from slightest over-defends. Also note that the map hasn't been on the rotation for months, so many players would not be accustomed to the timings and terrain shape.

Sure, that's fine. You can alternatively use the google form (shouldn't be visible to others). I few of the maps are not trivial, so I would be surprised if anyone scores 100%, but let's see

Yeah, it crossed my mind. I meant this to be a "challenge yourself" thing more than a strict competition. There is not much value in just copying the submission of others, without trying this on your own. But I do understand your concern. Anyway, i like the google form suggestion, let me try that.

Since music is a big thing in zombie escape, I've decided to put a little challenge if u guys are interested.
You can find below a list of 40 songs used across ze maps (most of which should be popular). If you want to give it a try, just post your guesses of which ze map uses that song. Something like:
0. Two Steps From Hell - Dragon Rider - ze_ffxii_westersand
Please use the following google form to submit your picks: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSeaxyaXQtwskdGnhQcZOdW3Xuu0GfUF1qJBTCOCiVK0-AzjYQ/viewform?usp=sf_link. You need to sign-in to submit, but that remains anonymous plus you can easily edit the responses later on. Let me know if you are not able to use the above form.
I am planning to score each submission (if any) 2 weeks from now (1 point per successful guess, you can make edits until 29th July). As an incentive to participate, I can gift a month of VIP to the player with highest score (earliest submission if draw) and a month of Donator to 2nd and 3rd place. Hope you enjoy this. I am curious how many correct picks would there be.
1. Two Steps From Hell - Love & Loss
2. Jack Wall - The End Run
3. Christopher Jake - Finish What The Jester Started
4. Peter Crowley - A Mysterious Christmas
5. Brian Tyler - Evac
6. Transformers 3 OST - It's Our Fight
7. BeeGees - Stayin' Alive
8. Simple Plan - Take My Hand
9. Thomas Bergersen - Reborn
10. Cowboy Bebop - Too Good Too Bad
11. The Edwin Davids Jazz Band - Benny Hill
12. Two Steps From Hell - For The Win
13. Medievil Soundtrack - Scarecrow Fields
14. Posthumus - Unstoppable
15. Breaking Benjamin - The Diary of Jane
16. Two Steps From Hell - Freefall
17. Blue Stahli - Mystique
18. AC/DC - Highway To Hell
19. Two Steps From Hell - Black Blade
20. Two Steps From Hell - Norwegian Pirate
21. Savatage - Christmas Eve
22. Ninja Tracks - Eon
23. Sub Pub Music - Iron Giant
24. Two Steps From Hell - Clock Tower Parade
25. Skillet - Out Of Hell
26. Propellerheads - Spybreak
27. Two Steps From Hell - Flameheart
28. Pendulum - 9000 Miles
29. Drop Tower - If Only You
30. Skillet - Feel Invincible
31. Sybrid - We Rise
32. Rick Astley - Never Gonna Give You Up
33. Onoken - Felys
34. Smash Mouth - All Star
35. Ramin Djawadi - Mhysa
36. Mt Eden - Omen
37. Prodigy - Invaders Must Die
38. Horace Silver - Blowin' The Blues Away
39. The Gun - Race With the Devil
40. John Dreamer - Brotherhood -
Can you meanwhile add the map to the normal rotation, at least for the next week or so. Giving it a few runs might be a good practice before the event + it would become clear whether the map crashes or not.

Map(s): ze_lila_panic_escape, ze_tilex_ultimate (current versions)
Restrictions/Limitations: N/A
Event Time preferred: Any
Others: Both maps should have secrets, so lets try to unlock and beat those -
Map(s): ze_otakuroom, ze_pidaras (current versions)
Restrictions/Limitations: Limit starting money to 6000 or disable rebuys
Event Time preferred: Any
Others: N/A -
You can also relatively easy decompile the the map with a tool like BSPSource (there are videos how to do so) and extract the song (in most cases). If you are lucky the mp3 files would be named after the original song. Otherwise, just use song recognition tool like https://www.midomi.com/
