I have removed the mitigation that results in the artificially lowered pings for just those two servers, so we shouldn't have any issues with getting blacklisted over these next few days. I believe we're still trying to reach out to rebel so that we may resolve this in a way that doesn't leave us open to such attacks, but so far we haven't been able to contact him.

I can confirm the ping in the server browser has not changed as of this post, as mentioned on the steam discussion thread. I'm not too sure if this is either something that will change in time or if you have forgotten to do something, hopefully it will be fixed soon. Also Rebel said he has no time to discuss which is a real shame but I can only assume that FoF isn't everyone's main focus, nothing I can do about it either unfortunately but we all know that this has been a thing for well over a year now - I never really paid attention to the ping when I played on the GFLClan servers in Garry's Mod before then but I wasn't too bothered about it personally.

Personally I have no problem with GFLClan and any problems I did have in the past have all been resolved civilly. The only problem is that I have suspicions on particular admins abusing their power, I believe that CedarLUG who was a moderator on the steam discussion forum for FoF banned Apologet from the discussions for a month (this ban was later lifted by Rebel within a couple of hours) because he was causing "beef" between him and the community, as shown in screenshot 1 and screenshot 2. As far as I'm aware, this is out of your guy's control but as said previously, Rebel lifted the ban within a couple of hours. CedarLUG has also globally banned Apologet from the servers for two months over him making the thread itself because CedarLUG claimed that Apologet was trolling when he actually spoke out over what others have also brought up in the past but unsuccessfully got a response from Rebel_Y himself. I personally think that this is unfair conduct from CedarLUG and I would hate for him to continue doing this to others all because he doesn't like being given criticism about how your server network is run. Look at what Gramps has done in the past, I admit that he is quite a fair person when it comes to moderating the servers but he has slipped up a few times and falsely banned people based on the assumptions that they were either cheating or abusing exploits, a few notable names in the Fistful of Frags community such as Rubbery Lee and Chitch.

Regarding any other things that Apologet has done behind the scenes, he has only talked to me privately on Steam about the drama between him and CedarLUG but also the discussion he had with Liloz01 however he did not leak any chat logs about Liloz to me nor would I want to reveal them here out of respect for both parties' privacy.

Just to clarify as well, I don't have a problem with CedarLUG either and I'm not even sure if this is the right place to bring that up but it should be brought to light regarding how this situation has unfolded. Hopefully that situation gets addressed because I don't think that behaviour is acceptable from an admin representing your community. I will also reiterate that I don't have a problem with Gramps, I haven't talked to him in ages, I saw him on FoF a few weeks ago but I haven't talked to him one-to-one because my old account on discord was disabled (I have not rejoined the GFL server on my new account, as such I don't have any contact with him on discord). He was also very helpful when it came to getting my past permanent ban on GFL appealed and eased down a one year ban and I'm still thankful that I was successfully appealed - since then I have had a clean record on the servers.

I am aware that I haven't replied to this thread since I created it but nonetheless, I appreciate the positive responses on this thread nonetheless. I can tell this is very stressful for you guys because you care about the community on top of the integrity of fair play on your servers along with any other added controversy along the way, hope you guys can keep at it and we will one day get to see the light on the other side!

I also took a screenshot as shown in the attachment prior to writing up this post and this demonstrates that the ping has not changed in the browser since Xy's reply.

  2. Hey, I'm not sure if any of you (particularly those responsible for the Fistful of Frags servers) keep tabs on the Steam discussion forums for FoF. I usually check every couple times a day but looking at this thread, the servers are now at risk of being taken off the server browser by the developer, Rebel_Y. This is due to the fact that the servers are displaying an artificial ping (obviously lower) than what the server's ping actually is.

I'm not too sure what is next for GFLClan on Fistful of Frags; is there any confirmation that Rebel has reached out to anyone to get this resolved; will you guys try to keep the servers but display the server's real ping on the browser; or will the servers just go bust, end of?

Personally I hope that the servers stay but display the proper ping than a lower one just to lure people on into thinking they will have a smooth experience. I've also had a lot of fun on those servers compared to others but personally I'm with the whole thing being a ping fraud and hopefully that will be fixed.

My only fear if the GFLClan servers are to be shut down is that there is also another problematic server known as fastpath.fr which seems to only be populated when the GFLClan servers are not up.

Why is it problematic you may ask? Well, they block players who have any form of Steam ban on record whether it is a VAC, game, trade or even a community ban from connecting to their servers. Without a doubt that will likely affect at least 25% of the playerbase, including myself (with a CS:GO VAC and game ban, from phone sharing). I have attempted to appeal this ban on their Steam group to no avail, they simply told me to read this thread and basically you have to make a donation on their website to show your interest "in playing on their servers", like fuck off am I going to bribe them to unban me - such a good way to kill off the small playerbase this game has by the way.

All in all, this was just a message to let the admins or anyone else reading know why the servers got taken down suddenly if this isn't addressed by the time that happens. Apologies if the fastpath thing sounds comes off like I was angry, to be fair that winds me up on it's own because I know it will kill of the playerbase if GFLClan's servers going down doesn't. Thanks for reading, I really hope a solution for this whole thing does get sorted, it will be a real shame to see this server go otherwise...

Since there's two servers, one could be ffa, the other 4 team.

I agree to be fair and I did in fact mention this in the bottom paragraph of the OP.

We could possibly have a Free-for-All Shootout server alongside a 4-Team Shootout server. I think it would be super cool if we could also have a third, possibly smaller server using the 16 slots lost from both servers, to make a Teamplay or Team Elimination server (since 8v8 is around as much as you'd want for a fun time casually playing those gamemodes)!

  4. Hi, making this thread regarding a few complaints about the server which was discussed on the Steam Discussions for this game along with a few other opinions that people have brought up since the update that downsized the max slots from 32 to 24.

I did message Xy (who I'm now aware doesn't fully manage the FoF servers, k2nod as far as I know does) about this in private messages, as he initially answered on this suggestion thread I posted in the main Fistful of Frags forum, however he did not reply to this and generally said he didn't have time to make any changes to the servers. I am aware that the servers were downsized to 24 players per server, losing 16 total slots in the process but we also noticed that the two GFL servers changed over to a free-for-all gamemode instead of the 4-Team Shootout gamemode which the servers had ran since GFL returned to FoF.

I'm not at all sure if the gamemode switch was an intentional change or if this was just done for the sake of resurrecting the servers but I would personally like for the servers to return to the 4-Team Shootout gamemode, much like a couple of others. My reasoning is that Free-for-All Shootout is pretty frantic for 24 players and I personally find 4-Team Shootout more fun for the sake of being able to hold down areas and take ground off of the other teams (a few spots being the bar on Winterlong, the El Paso bank on Fistful and the train on Cripplecreek). Sure Free-for-All Shootout has its own fun and a generally fast paced game but you do also sometimes run into the problem of having people team up with eachother which defeats the object of playing the gamemode since you're basically playing against the rest of the world in this type of gamemode. It can especially be unfair if two very high skilled players team up to get very high scores and it can become a big problem if they get to take control of a strong area which can be hard to contest against.

Generally I'm against the gamemode switch for the aforementioned reasons and sure, I've seen people talk about it on the Steam Discussions as said above but also on various Fistful of Frags discord servers. You can also take a look at my original suggestion thread as linked in the second paragraph as it might still be possible to open up a third server and run a variety of gamemodes (Free-for-All, 4-Team Shootout and maybe even Teamplay or Team Elimination?) regarding the slots lost in the June 10th update. Hopefully this can be looked into along with my original suggestion, since that hasn't gotten very far nor have I still really been told anything about my suggestion being accepted or declined, thank you in advance.

  5. @SkydivingSquid I appreciate your response and I'm happy to hear it. I've been through my friends list and got rid of about two thirds of them, mostly because I don't play with them anymore, they're inactive or they were throwaway accounts which got banned from CS:GO or other games.

Thank you for accepting my appeal, hopefully the next three months go by quick so I can come back to fragging on the Fistful server. Oh and promise me, I won't be breaking any rules on the GFL servers any time soon :)

  6. Hello everyone, it's your lego bionicles collector here.

Today I request an appeal over my ban from August last year.

    Introduction

My in-game name is normally craZy_y0™ and my SteamID is STEAM_1:0:28825581.

Upon googling my SteamID you'll find that I've got a massive record of past bans on various Garry's Mod servers possibly dating back as early as 2013 as I've been in a lot of trouble for messing around on Trouble in Terrorist Town servers and other servers alike mostly for mass RDMing. On top of that I also have a game and VAC ban on record for Counter-Strike: Global Offensive as I shared my phone number with my friend a year and a bit ago but it doesn't necessarily mean I cheated in CS:GO, in fact CS:GO is out of the question as I've never played on GFLClan's servers in that game.

    Why I was banned

So let's begin then. I was banned from GFLClan as I was aimbotting on the Trouble in Terrorist Town servers some time at the start of September last year. Backstory of this was that my friend came to my house and we hung out (we also had a few kopparbergs to drink while we were at it), but I also wanted him to install Garry's Mod cheats for me, the hack in question is called BigPackets. My friend decided what server to test my newly acquired cheats on and by coincidence it was GFLClan, knowing that I have previously offended on this server before.

Talking about my previous conviction, I was banned about 11 months ago for ghosting with my cousin. I also attempted to appeal this ban as we thought the admin (WigglesWorth) was abusing his powers and I even made a video about it. You can see all of this in this thread.

Going back to my ban, my friend set BigPackets up for me and I went on to RDM 3 players using the rifle with aimbot on. A little while later I decided to just play it safe for a couple of rounds while also calling out a traitor (because BigPackets picks up if players have T weapons) before I went on an aimbot killing spree to my ban. I did record the entire time I was playing on the server and still have the footage on hand if anyone is interested in me handing it over. Originally I didn't intend on using cheats on the server but I in a way used the cheats as an excuse to get revenge against my previous ghosting ban.

    Why I am appealing

I am appealing this ban because I realized I made a massive mistake and personally I think that the ban was justified. However I wish to apologize for my actions and I'm sorry to those experiences who I've affected by my past behaviour, I promise I am a changed man now and won't be doing anything like that again if I do get unbanned. I also made this appeal because of the Fistful of Frags server that launched not too long ago, I have played on it before the GMod ban caught on and made it so I'm unable to connect to the server anymore. I brought up a discussion with Gramps about the Fistful of Frags ban as I was aware he banned one of my friends on the assumption of cheating (this has since been resolved I believe), however he had advised me to create this appeal in order to jump back into the action.

Hopefully I'm able to backtrack and fix any of my wrongdoings so I can sort out and better my reputation with GFLClan. I personally feel like it has been a long time and I have no grudges against GFLClan, in fact the staff here have been nothing but friendly and helpful to me despite my past behaviour. I just don't want to sound like I'm being too friendly or apologetic to anyone here in order to be unbanned since appeals usually take place a few hours to a few days after the offense has been taken but I do genuinely wish to turn things around, I do want to start a-new to prove that I am a good person and not the person I was before.

    Outro

If you've read everything, thanks for taking the time out of your day to read all of this. If you have any questions or if you want my video I previously mentioned, do tell me and I won't hesitate to answer. I wish to be given a second chance and hopefully I can be a role-model many can look up to.

    Cheers,

    craZy_y0

  7. Yep, I thought that was so. As shown in the video I didn't really pay attention to if anyone else was in the lighthouse but I saw Zero had a rifle when I started going up the lighthouse and I shot him down because I knew he was the guy who got them. I would've stayed with him a bit longer and probably called KOS on him if I planned on killing him but he would've probably killed me before I could do that.

  8. On Saturday 21st July 2018, me (STEAM_0:0:28825581) and my friend crowbar45 (STEAM_0:1:44997967) both joined the GFLClan TTT server. We were planning on playing properly but it turns out things went differently than we thought.

To begin, I had originally gotten an autoslay from October by a guy called Zero (who was also on at the time of us playing on there) and personally I can't remember being autoslayed but it's oh well. I served my autoslay and we were both ready to play. We played the first round, stayed by the T tester house and I found a guy get sniped in the head, I instantly knew it was someone in the lighthouse or on the top but I decided not to investigate yet. Then crowbar45 got sniped and I found a guy crouched on top of the roof of the lighthouse (TheLegend27) and I assumed he killed them both so I called a KOS on him began to venture into the lighthouse to track him down but then I found Zero, the guy who had autoslayed me months before and I saw he had a rifle so I knew it was him who killed both of these guys earlier in the round since I also ID'd his body and turned out he himself was a traitor anyway. I later forgave TheLegend27 as I knew it wasn't him afterwards but in hindsight if I knew it was Zero who was killed them I should've called KOS on him instead, except I don't usually pay attention to people shooting from inside the lighthouse (only from the top of it where there's an open view).

Upon killing Zero, he had reported me for RDM as he thought I had no evidence for finding out he was a traitor when I abundantly knew he was the one who killed both this guy and crowbar45 so I said that I saw him kill them with my very own eyes but he didn't forgive me because he had assumed I was ghosting with crowbar45 which was not the truth. We were in a discord call at the time but we weren't actually ghosting for eachother, it was then that the admin known as WigglesWorth decided to take action by handing us autoslays and later a week's ban from the server based off of what Zero had said and not allowing us to explain our side of the story.

I was also recording at the time luckily so I do have full evidence on the situation in question and personally I feel that we were not treated fairly, assumingly because we had both joined at the same time and that I had a previous autoslay. It feels like that Zero and WigglesWorth together tried to find a reason to get us gone from the server as soon as I had killed Zero (rightfully on our own terms).

I appreciate you guys for reading this, I hope something gets sorted out between us all.
