We could still somewhat focus on what we have available a bit, too. We have so many servers that are sitting around but they remain untouched for some time.

I understand what you mean, but some of these servers that don't get attention will get shut down when they could use a bit of attention beforehand. If then it doesn't work out, they should be closed. It's what I find to be a big issue within GFL.

This I can agree with. While I support maintaining faith in our smaller servers, not putting more effort into making them stagnant or stable seems silly to me.

However, if Jailbreak is to return so soon after its shutdown then who is to say that the same mistakes won't be made in round 2? It shouldn't be brought back only to die again of the same issues.

Of course, it's possible it'll do well once revived too. However, I still feel that the odds are stacked against it. The more patient we are with our revivals of old servers, the more likely they are to be successful once a plan is assembled and improvements added. (Also, lack of a CSGO DL doesn't help right now. That'll need to be taken care of as well.)

This I feel is the flaw with such revivals as Purge and ZS. They just recently died, and already we're bringing them back? Give it some time to gain hype, and a plan of action for when it's time to consider revival. Too many people I feel are just attached to the Purge (and Jailbreak!) gamemode and soon we'll be in the same predicament as before.

I'm not against the idea of Jailbreak returning, (I never play it anyways) but I just think it's a little too reckless to try to bring it back without realizing what our past mistakes were and finding the most effective ways to correct them. If this really is that important to you, (all of you who voted yes) then my best suggestion for you is to come up with ideas to make Jailbreak even bigger and better than before, BEFORE we bring back the server. Otherwise, the new Jailbreak will pretty much be left to rot until those improvements are made.

I don't. I understand that me saying this is hypocritical, but there's so many servers we alreadyalready have and should focus on, yet we're expanding into other divisions.

That's what I mean with my previous comment. If that's the case, why continue opening servers if we can't even focus on what we have?

There are some things we have yet to try. If something tries and fails, you don't charge blindly into round 2. Just because we focus on our other servers doesn't mean we can't open our minds to something new. Like I said, Jailbreak will be worth trying again at some point. In the meantime, there are other options in which we have yet to determine how successful they will be.

At the same time, I believe each current server can be maintained with enough effort. Even so, it's also possible that some servers we currently have just won't be successful and will be shut down. By brainstorming new ideas and trying new games, we have readily available ideas to take their places.

What if we come across a new gamemode or server that we open and it becomes a hit? For example, new gamemodes like Breach. I may not play Breach anymore and I may enjoy teasing the people that do, but I can't deny that it's successful. And how did we get there? By investing in new options that we've never tried before to see how much people like them.

We'll never reach the full potential of our community if we insist on trying the same things over and over wihout experimenting in other areas.

  3. Every time something dies there's immediately a campaign to bring it back. I'm guilty of this myself. I think Jailbreak will be worth trying again in due time. For now, however, I have to agree with @k2nod and say that current servers and upcoming new expansions are worth focusing on more than bringing back old recent servers.

It died for a reason. Think for a moment. If it's revived now, so soon after it was shut down, there's not a lot of time to brainstorm what was done wrong and how to improve on it. In addition, if we wait some time before considering reviving it, the hype for its release will be greater, as well as more potential people who would be willing to play on it and help it be successful.

I think it could be worth adding to the to-do list, but I'd heavily recommend letting it be for now.

Maybe you'll find another server or gamemode that catches your interest in the meantime. You would be less likely to find that if Jailbreak came right back and all your time went into that, yes?

    Patience.
