  1. I wanted to wish everyone here at GFL a Happy New Year, and to thank everyone here for creating and populating an amazing community. GFL has been pretty much my life for the past 5 and a half months, and I can say that the experience has been one I will remember for a long time to come. I've met many individuals here that have become good teammates and friends to work with, and it has been great to play with them on GFL's servers.

    Happy New Year GFL!

    Here's to a better one!

  2. Welcome to the GFL forums, @Beluga!

It is a pleasure to have you with us!

If you have any questions at all about the forums or something else at GFL, please feel free to message me ;)

Side note: It's good to have another Source player on the forums! You can find me on CS:S Surf RPG DM and CS:S Zombie Mod, and eventually on CS:S Dust2 ;)

  3. My brother bought a copy off of ebay about a year ago for half the market price. Later on we found out that our copy was purchased using a stolen credit card and our Nintendo Shop account was banned. In order to unban it we had to relieve our copy of mario maker.

For the few months we had it, it was a pretty cool game, and I really want to get it again, but I need money first. Assuming I can get a copy, I'll come back to this ;)

Text: "GFL" and "Games For Life"; Please put "Games for Life" below "GFL"

Other Preferences: Please include the GFL logo (Just the circle, not the entire forum logo) in the middle of the image, but offset slightly upwards to accommodate the text, which should go BELOW the logo. The text should preferably be colored like the forum logo (White "GFL"; White "Games", Blue "For", White "Life")

Although I have known, I had previously thought he was older.  This goes to show that your maturity doesn't have to match or infer your age, and Roy has made a great example of this!  I hope it may inspire a few of our younger members to explore our leadership opportunities, and for our current leadership members to overlook someone's age in our many decisions and applications if someone is showing promise.

    Well said Joshy!

I am also surprised at how young some of the people I know on GFL are. It makes me a bit proud. As someone on the younger side of GFL, it brings me a sense of pride knowing that young people can make a big impact on GFL as a whole, as Roy has clearly done again and again. It's also awesome to see those older members respect the younger members, and not have their judgements and feelings be based on age, although there may be a few who do.

All in all, Roy is young and that is cool, because with youth comes innovation! (Not to say older people can't be innovative xP)

Not a problem. Either way put, the aforementioned steps are going to help you out either way. A lot of admins start off as operators anyhow, if you choose to further pursue that, that's up to you.

I started off as an operator under manslayer, and was promoted to admin soon after.

Thank you everyone for taking the time to answer my question and discuss this me. The help was much appreciated :)

No problem. I wish you luck in your endeavor!

  7. Generally, most servers require standards, such as amount of playtime and activity, and being familiar with the community and the admins on the server you wish to apply on. You want people to notice how well you communicate yourself on a server. Being helpful and answering questions for new players is always a good thing. Don't do things that might make you look unprofessional.

Another standard requirement servers usually have is forum activity. Having one or two posts on the forums when applying can look bad, seeming that you only joined the forums to apply (but, if you are well known on a server your applying for, that could nullify the forum activity standard)

All in all, you won't really know if you are capable of being an operator until you do apply. Then, the current staff team of the server you apply to will review your app and comment if you are missing anything critical, or if you put forth enough effort.

    My advice is this:

    1. Get more activity on the forums
    2. If you don't think your well known on the server, then start communicating and helping, over the mic or in chat
    3. Befriend some (or all) of the staff on the server, and get to know them. Speaking from experience, this step is most likely a crucial factor.

Don't stress it if you are denied. Just keep playing on the server while doing the above, and apply again in the future :)

I was born on the east coast.

Stating that, I don't pay attention to the east coast all too much :B|:
