There was no argument going on, it was simple you repeating "can you shut up" to black and he asked why you were so mad. At some point it got too annoying and i muted you, which resulted in the entire server calming down.
-
It's generally a pretty bad idea to be threatening towards staff in any way, and you won't achieve anything other than a punishment

-
You were not muted with no prior warnings. A call was made that you were mic spamming, upon arrival it quickly became pretty obvious that you only behave "well" when admins are on, as you immediately started once foolish left, not knowing I'm also an admin. Now when foolish left arn said the n-word a few times and claimed "oh you cant punish me for that im part of a community", for that i gave him 5 min mute as a warning and he did not repeat.
You and ice then starting spamming voicechat in which i asked "can you guys shut up?" where both of you quickly replied that i should "stfu or come on mic if you want something". For that i gave both of you 5 minute mutes, even though at this point you should have been muted for 1 week considering your previous record.
Fast forward, map change, ice complains in chat and says "im gonna snap your dick in half, pussy admin" etc. For this i gave him a silence of 30 min. To follow up you made similar harassment towards the "unknown". Now this was not just "whoever muted me is a bitch" and you know that, and for that reason i decided to give you your 1 week mute considering you already had a 1 day mute on record.
To explain myself a bit about the "no reason for being muted" i answered all of you with reason for every punishment in textchat, the fact that you choose to ignore that is not my fault

In short, we switched timer. Because of this all times got wiped as the data couldnt be transfered (i think?)

GL, you still suck at surfing though
-
Small tip: Learn to use turnbinds "+left" and "+right". Learning to use these is not a must, but it can elevate your overall skill and ability to improve on certain maps. By getting used to these you will have a much easier way of going through "spirals" or other parts where keeping momentum while going downwards is crucial.
Ninja edit: cool guide for everyone trying to learn a bit more a bout surf in general:

If that's the case you should try managing :^)
I can already see why i would ever get recommended as manager... Worth it tho! Dont be a jerk vote for Berg :^)

Another surfer who's interest is lost after being server manager for GFL. FeelsBadMan, HOW MANY MORE LIVES DO YOU NEED TO TAKE CRUEL SERVERS!?
That being said i hope to still see you around from time to time. I need a certain amount of people to be cocky towards to :^) -
Im not really sure which admins you are referring to however i know that none of the admins are toxic. Many, me including are cheeky but nowhere near toxic. If you feel like there is a general problem feel free to report us to the server manager and he can deal with the problems.
Furthermore if you feel that the admins have destroyed the servers i would suggest applying yourself.
Last: This is not really a thread to complain about such things

Oh about damn time, I might actually come back if things are set in motion. I've been grinding CS:S surf for quite a while :^)
You want to get bashed by me and Deltaz again? :^)
-
You better not disappoint, or i might have to step up next time :^)
-
Along with the rank names which is a HUGE problem :^)
-
I have already linked Deltacommander to a google docs some of the staff members made a while ago with ideas, you can always pm me for the link if you want it. Other than that just do as Delta wrote and pm him or potato if you want information. Im sure they would happily replay

The main reason in my opinion for people leaving is the poor performance of the servers. Considering how big of a community GFL is, it seems weird that we cant a few solid surf servers to run, when we got so many others well running servers across multiple games.
There are a few things that have resulted in this current state that should be fixed.
1. Straight up neglection from the higher ups. For me it doesnt make any sense how six empty servers can be anywhere near a good sign. Now i know that there has been a few peaks with population, but in general three of the servers have been empty and the other three have been with max 10 people playing pr. server. Considering that we a year ago had four full servers this is a sad development and somewhat impressive that so many servers can be neglected like that. Honestly think the servers need a fresh start, this would include: Remove all current admins (active and non active) and get some new, meticulous, and highly motivated staff. Remove 2-4 of the servers so we have less to focus on, and maybe use the money saved to buy a custom timer like the bhopservers have.
2. The lack of communication between the server staff and the forums. Even though several posts have been made to adress these issues, i feel like the majority of the active players and staff from surf timer barely use the forums which is a shame. Hopefully can a new staff team get this communication to work better than previous...

I think the main conflict about getting another manager is the point of view. For anyone below manager it seems like the best option is to just add another manager. Because many believes a manager should be able to fix every problem within 1 hour of it occurring (Like some superhuman). But this is just not possible, no matter how many managers we add. So maybe a solution could be, to write down problems occurring when and where and make a list for the manager to fix when he got time for it. I will however point out that the servers were running more smoothly (imo) when we had Ross and Frenzy as managers
-
We aren't asking for a manager to only fix EU, and one to only fix US. Just a manager from each region

-
I think the main problem is the timezone difference. There is a lot of times where a manager is needed during daytime in EU but where and US manager is sleeping or something else. By adding another manager from EU this downtime without an online manager gets reduced a lot. Worth noting im not claiming that a manager should be on 24/7 they are humans aswell, most of them at least

The ranks are based on points, which are gained from completing maps (Faster times gives more points). The rank name itself is nothing but a name to show which interval of points you are in. You can always do !ranks to check the other ranks

As many of you know the state of the surf timer servers haven’t been worse than what they currently are. We have gone from 4 out of 6 completely full servers to 6 near empty servers. This is a sad development to see, and I think it’s time to talk about the issues that the servers have and what can be done to fix it.
The main issue is the lack of active players and admins. The current situation has resulting in casual playing players leaving as well as admins. If I were to look at the current admin/operator list, I would only be able to name a handful of the staff members who have been active on the servers in the last week. This including a manager. Now I’m aware that a new manager has been picked but has yet to receive any form of training. The lack of priority to get a new functioning manager going is a careless act, considering the servers have been in a need for a new manager for almost 3 months now.
What worse is that none of the higher ups that are meant to train him know much about cksurf and definitely not surf timer as a whole. They could only teach the new manager general server sided things and he'd have to figure out how to deal with the timer and stuff like zoning himself. Also the people that were meant to train him are careless individuals who have shown signs of negligence to train managers before, and should not have been assigned to the task.
I think it would make more sense to get an experienced surf timer manager on the task of training the new ones. Since I’m aware that the former surf manager and division leader Frenzy had made it clear to the higher ups that he happily would do so I went ahead and contacted Frenzy. He confirmed this and has agreed upon training Neo to become the new manager of surf timer if it gets approved.@Roy @Cypher @floopyhiggle @Kim @Shuruia @Infantry @Neo @FrenZy
