  1. I know I'm a month late on this, but I would like to express my feelings of respect towards you and give gratitude. Waillord during our time together you went above and beyond what any manager should expect of an admin, let alone an admin who worked for two servers. I cannot put into words my admiration and appreciation for the work you did with CSGO TTT during its fledgling days and without you I fear I would not have stayed for as long as I did. You were truly one of the best admins I had the honor of managing over and I feel no surprise in seeing you as the manager for jailbreak.  Thank you Waillord for all you've done for TTT and for all you will continue to do for GFL without you this clan would not be nearly as good as it is now.

It is guys like you who keep communities alive, especially during times of hardship. You are a rare breed, carry your achievements with pride and humility and I can see you accomplishing great things.

    with sincerety,

    QiadoxSkel

  2. When I looked at what position best suited me for fixing up TTT I looked at developer and saw no practical reason to take up the position. There was no tangible benefit over just being a  member that tests their plugins with a manager. Put this on top of the position seemingly being harder to get than manager it's easy to see why no one holds it.

  3. I'm requesting corner bitmaps for the three TTT roles, I'll just call them Profile Pictures for the sake of complying with the format

    Size: 128x128

    Theme: minimalist

Text: (the first letter of each bitmap's respective role)

    Color Scheme/Style:

    (Terrorist, Detective, and Innocent)

    Terrorist :Red

    Innocent:Green

    Detective:Blue

    Additional Information:

if you would like to make additional corner role indicators, I could do things like add them to the Shop that will be produced later down the road.

if you're making more than just the minimalist indicators do whatever you want.

  4. Hide and seek would be pretty easy to make, I'll go ahead and throw it together when I finish the rewrite.

As a brief update for those interested I'm gonna go ahead and say we should have a working release of the rewrite by next Saturday.

For runners? Why even bother playing deathrun at that point, just find a bhop server.

I'm gonna have to  disagree with you here. I understand where you get this idea because GFL has always been a more casual community than most of the ones I've been a part of, but I've both ran and played on servers where skilled scrollwheel bhoppers could achieve a consistent 1000 vel with a moderate to high amount of effort. Even with speeds this high T's were able to adapt and find ways to kill people regardless of their speed. This principle is part of the reason why so many of the older deathrun maps have 50/50 doors and gas chambers, they we're incredibly effective at killing the few players who could reach that tier of skill (except for the maps that were designed to be broken). This also serves as a distraction to the T allowing newer players a chance to complete the map. This lowers both the barrier to entry for new players and increases the skill ceiling.

Even when I would run events where player were allowed to script to their hearts content with 128 tick on 1000 air accel, you'd still only see the highest tier of player able to consistently beat most maps every round.

the only time this got ridiculous was during an event where I installed a new bhop plugin that allowed players to go so quickly they could clip into walls and get stuck. Even then the mere risk of hitting a wall at this speed made it where only 1/10 would even attempt going past 2000 vel.

I also have an issue with your point of ~"just find a BHOP server if you want to go faster". bhop servers are about a balance of precision and speed. Deathrun focuses on broad stroke evasion and even higher speeds. Deathrun has a long and honored tradition of being speedrun and you should respect that if you want players to stick around for more than a couple months. This is the main reason I went to TTT instead of your deathrun server when CSGO was shut down.

Just in case you guys were thinking that this is/was planned to be a logo for GFL, it is not. The original design was made for a member using their specifications for personal use.

Back on topic I actually do like

      Reveal hidden contents

    Fg9TvYM.png

It is very "2010" in its design. However, with the GFL theme being grey and blue I would like to see it reworked a little to fit our theme.

I'm hesitant to agree to this due to some of the "questionable" reactions of some specific members of the creative team and its reputation; as well as, my current desire for a change in position among the ranks of GFL. I joined GFL to play deathrun and have a good time, not continue to live the horrors involved with working with artists after I leave work, let alone artists that aren't even professionals. I however am quite used to doing things I hate such as playing TTT or mapping for gamemodes that aren't deathrun. I'm hoping you remember what I said to Roy the first time we met if you want my perspective on this.

If you want me to do this kind of work talk to me on TS I can do much better. I advise you to have some persuasive arguments, but I will be respectful and reasonable.

I liked the older concept better.

The reworked is harder to read/understand.

Also, i don't like all the sharp edges and stuff, it just conveys the message of a tryhard gaming clan instead of a friendly gaming community.

I honestly agree I just did what Dan asked me to make.

Another suggestion I'd like to make is incorporating something isotropic.  Something GFL has compared to other communities is support for multiple games, and so I always really liked seeing things like circles or many sided polygons...  I personally interpreted it as the many sides of GFL although I'm sure people don't look into meaning or analyze things as much as I like to do.

I already made these two images for dan. I would likely do something like what you suggested if there were a contest.

The dash in that image is clearly a part of the 'L', and so preserving the dash in your current image is...  I think it's silly.  Sorry.

This was just blind following of the style am already renderring a new version without it.

I'll go ahead and edit it into this post when its done.

For reference these can be resized and recolored in a similar manner to traditional vectored images. It just requires more technical knowledge.

Not sure if this is even possible but maybe a shop item for Innocents as 'Decoy', once bought it will spawn in a mirror image of your character and randomly run around the map like a bot but once killed it will tell u who the person was and if they were an innocent or a traitor. i would think the price of this would be rather high maybe 10k or so, once again not sure if this is possible or if this is already in talks but just an idea.

    Thanks.

This is an interesting Idea and I'll keep it in mind when making the shop item for the new plugin. I will caution any expectations by saying this may not be possible without extreme amounts of effort. I will investigate further when creating the shop

On 7/18/2017 at 0:47 PM, TomRiddle said:

Another little suggestion involving shop for innocents/detective could be a tac grenade that once exploded tells you how many traitors are in the radius but doesn't show u who or any indicator like that and how many innocents are in the radius, this will add some rather tactical/sticky situations

once again just a thought in the shop department

I was already intending to do something very similar with the tac grenades. except it would also give an outline of their body through walls so you could throw at a wall and potentially witness a murder without a T even knowing it. I would have to add appropriate counters to the shop and see if this enjoyable in playtesting.

What I am asking to be added:  The implementation of limited ammo for guns, some having less or more bullets than others, such as the silenced usp(usp-s), the m4a1-s, and the awp. These are all just examples and not the only guns that i would like to have limited.

I already have a very basic module for doing this in the new plugin, expect this to appear soon on the test server.

Instead of events, I believe RP rounds would be more beneficial to a server like TTT. Basically in GMOD Murder they have a system called 'RP Rounds' (correct me if I'm wrong) 'RP Rounds' is a automatic system where every 5ish normal rounds of normal murder they have a special round. Not sure if this is on any another gamemode besides for GMOD Murder but i believe it would fit well for TTT as it gives it would give it that extra touch.

I would need more information as to how this would work and how rp breakers would be punished in order to go through the effort to implement a system for this. I encourage anyone with ideas to reply with details

Alright, so since we're removing tracers & laser sights, I think I have a good idea on what to replace their spot with. Player Models! Player Models could be added to the store for the empty slot of tracers & laser sights. Players of TTT could have unique character models to differentiate one from the other. Plus, if we were to make these models expensive, players would be more motivated to earn credits. Earning credits would be more time spent on the server. I think many players would enjoy this minor suggestion, and it'd be great for more possible activity.

I'm currently attempting to learn how to make custom player models and adjust they're hitboxes. if this we''re to be implemented all models would likely be using the hitboxes from CSS if I so deem to put this amount of effort into the system.

  13. @sl3yz I'm one of the few remaining people who still play quake one. However I do have to agree this post was very poorly written and executed I was two days off sleep while it was written. I am currently deciding whether to lock the thread or write this in a more sensible manner so it actually fulfills its purpose.

If it is rewritten i'll refrain from my sleep deprived opinions no one cares about

  14. This guide assumes a pre existing desire to play quake, if you do not have this desire please do not read this guide as it will only further turn you off the game.

remove your man bun, stop taking vapes off your fidget spinner and strap in for a guide on how to get enjoyment out of quake.

start by picking up a copy of quake champions and play it. If you're coming from overwatch you will likely think the game is incredibly dull or bash the characters for having no personality. If this is your perspective you have no idea what makes quake great and you're playing overwatch because it's overwatch not because you think it's a good game. Buckle up because you will need to commit a lot of effort to becoming good enough to enjoy the game more than that casual bullshit. it shouldn't take more than a couple hours of grinding. From my time in the competitive shooter scene I've learned, if you don't care about the game enough to imagine yourself being good at the game, you will never be. With quake this means that you will not be getting the the most enjoyment you can out of it.

This used to be one of quakes biggest assets but has turned to one of its biggest hurdles going forward. Being a game that relies on all players being competitive you must get into the competitive scene before getting into the game. While this used to be done by a friend inviting you to a lan party or enough players calling you bad you wanted to grind their  face into the concrete. One must watch competitive quake before playing competitive quake. This is huge barrier to entry that overwatch doesn't have due to player being able to latch onto the cast of characters like disgusting heaps of fetish worms.

Note: this game is not for the faint of heart, you should be getting aggressive and mad. You either learn to channel that into your style and become a better player out of it, or you become a toxic asshole.

Why would you want to go through all that effort just to play yet another shooter. The answer is simple quake is the most bullshit free and hardcore shooter with perfect mix of fluid gameplay and advanced mechanics. These quality make it one of the most rewarding games to play once you pass the initial barrier to entry.

So now you've gotten invested into the competitive scene and want to see if you can get a slice of that action. Well now you've got the next fucking hurdle. You have to learn how to aim, and not that bullshit aim that csgo teaches you. I mean the kind of aim that involves keeping you crosshair on a human player moving around at twice the movement speed of cstrike 70-90% off the time. How is this done? There are two methods, The timescale method and the grind method. You can either develop this skill over several years of playing the game normally or you can pull out a lightning gun and slow down time in an earlier quake game. Yes I know its bullshit, but its the only fast method for now due to quake champions not having proper offline support.

Once you learn these skills you should begin seeing much more enjoyment out of quake than you would out other games such as overwatch or COD. At this stage the community will generally refer to you as decent.

if you want to become truly good at quake you then need to master the following concepts on your own, I recommend learning them in descending order

    projectile weapons

    Map control

    movement (bhopping and the like)

    roster abilities

    player psychology

learn to do these in real time in a match by thinking about them after a match

    mind games

    mind games counter play

mind games counter play counter play (recursive)

This is just my perspective as a someone who has been playing quake since they were six. Trust me getting over the barriers to entry is worth it a hundred times over and you will have far more fun then you would have playing overwatch.

  15. @Baked I honestly believe most of the problems you encounter on GFL are caused by the methods you use to report admins and appeal punishments. eg: going to the TTT manager to complain about admin abuse on JB. You will find more people will listen to you if you let what happens happen and appeal using the formal process. These processes exist for a reason.

  16. this is not a vac ban its a sv_pure 1 kick

it happens when you have a file differing from the server you were connecting to

this can be caused by mods, corruption, or bad mapping practices

test these solutions in order one at a time

    • verify integrity of game files
    • remove modded files from your /csgo folder
    • remove launch parameters and autoexec
    • delete /csgo folders and verify integrity of game cache
    • if the issue still persists pm me on the forums

Sugg. is used as an abbreviation for suggestion, regardless I have to agree with @Leks. Implying that members have no place discussing rules or administration is like saying customers have no place in discussing how soup is made in a resturant. Sure most people have no idea how to properly make soup, but you might have an unannounced world renowned soup chef come into your restaurant or a virtuoso tier amateur.

While I do believe that this post is largely irrelevant due to most of the suggestions being already in place or poorly thought out. My recommendation for @HopsiN to prevent this issue in the future is to add exemptions(conditions) more frequently (every suggestion). This will encourage the following:

    • The post being taken more seriously
    • make the intention of the poster easier to interpret
    • makes the poster appear more professional and passionate about their suggestions

While one can easily say we should be able to see these conditions for ourselves, we're busy people and have obligations that supersede the magnitude of observation required to arrive on this information, and may result in misinterpretation.

    tldr: be more specific
