Hello everyone. For those of you who are wondering where I've been, I'll tell you.
I have been in a mental hospital. About 2 months ago I was diagnosed with major depressive disorder. I left the hospital today. I will try to keep in contact with who I can. Thank you

I AM NOT FOR SURE IF YOUR CAPS LOCK IS BROKEN OR YOU HAVE FINALLY LOST IT. I CAN PROBABLY RELATE. BUT HOLD DOWN SHIFT AND IT WILL MAKE YOUR TEXT SMALL AGAIN. IT'S VERY SPOOKI BUT IT SHOULD WORK. IF YOU KEEP SCREAMING LIKE THIS YOU MIGHT WAKE THE KIDS IN ROY'S BASEMENT AND THAT WILL MAKE ROY VERY ANGRI

I can't believe I only just recently started using the GFLV3 main theme on this site. It's beautiful. (Though I most definitely prefer the square avatars instead of the circular ones. I always hated when sites did that to avatars)

I finally got my game code back to where it was roughly 2 weeks ago before everything went straight to hell.
I've improved quite a lot compared to how the code originally was so this is actually pretty grand. I've already picked back up where I left off and can finally use the damn level editor I have spent 3 weeks developing hahaha

I converted everything to source and header files. However it still wasn't compiling correctly. So I started from scratch and just re-used portions of my original code when I could. I'd say about 3 quarters of the functionality had to be rewritten from scratch because I wrote a lot of things differently this time around.
This time things are a lot more efficient so I guess having to rewrite everything was a good thing? @Nick

I have to reformat over 3000 lines of code. As in, I gotta go to every single header file in my game code and format it correctly so it's split between a header and a cpp file.
This is what I get for switching to visual studio.
Everything is pain.

So I uh... I couldn't fix the game code. In the process of trying to fix it I've made it even worse. At this point I can't handle the stress of continuing my attempts to fix this code and get it back to a working state. Even worse, I actually just found out that the original state my code was in was fixable. Rather easily, too. But I didn't know that at the time.
So I need to re-do about a month's work of work. 8 hour long days for multiple days straight, all that work is just not fixable. Maybe it is. But I seriously cannot handle the stress of trying anymore.
I am not a dramatic person. I hate exaggeration. But I'm serious when I say I might get an aneurysm if I keep trying to fix this. I am incredibly stressed out, I have been for the past 5 days, and I can't take it anymore.
So I'm going to just start fresh. I can use snippits of my original code in this new re-write since some of my original code is still useful.
The only bright side I can get out of this is I can probably build this game to have better code this time around. And of course I learned a couple new things.
Unfortunately that comes at the cost of hours worth of effort. Lucky me, I guess.

Hey, it's going to be fine! You live and learn and move forward with the new knowledge you have now (and can get it done quickly too!) Keep your head up, okay? You have me and @Xy rooting for you! I recommend taking a break so that you can relax and come back to the code with a calm, determined mind.

@Auralanity Thanks for the response. I have an idea.
A friend of mine has one of the two editors for the game stored on his computer. He just sent me it. So I have one of the editors. That means I won't have to re-write that code. Unfortunately I need to re-write the entire level editor (the much bigger and more complex editor). However, it's not all terrible. Due to the stuff I have learned during this process I should be able to write much better code for everything.
It'll be repetitive, sometimes borderline tedious. But I can do it.
I will probably take a short break. But my breaks are known to be a lot shorter than I say they are. I am a workaholic haha
