Wouldn't of been here or understood anything without @flamie Alexis. An amazing friend and a downright fucking awesome person in general. Thank you for everything! :)))
Thank you so much for the kind words, you're pretty awesome yourself. ♥️

Just wanted to make a post asking everyone what their favourite book is, at the moment mine is The Complete Cthulu Mythos Tales which I'm currently working my way through and loving it. My long running favourite series of books would either be Lord of the Rings or the Inheritance Cycle.

So many nice replies already, hi everyone.

Nah it's cause I wanted to be able to take community feedback and make changes based on that.

I'm not great for computer recommendations for prebuilts as I haven't had one in a while, but 2 part brands I highly recommend are Gigabyte and EVGA (EVGA makes especially nice power supply units), mind you they are mid-highish range in price so it can add up fast and is something to be wary of, but yeah any prebuilt that has mostly Gigabyte and EVGA parts is likely to last you a while and be fairly future proof for at least 5+ years. There are I'm certain other good brands those are just the 2 that I've had a really good experience with. Others will probably be able to make better more specific recommendations when it comes to what cards, motherboards etc. to get.

Thought I'd introduce myself since I'm kind of an invisible presence here on the forums.
I'm Alexis, I think I use that name everywhere at this point. I manage the GFL TF2 2fort 2 server. I'm also a video editor and writer for the PR team.
Not really a surprise but I like playing games, writing and editing. I also like reading, anime and martial arts. I've done Muay Thai and Taekwondo for 10 years but I recently dropped Muay Thai for Silat.
So yeah, this is just me saying hi and briefly introducing myself, thanks for taking the time to read it. -
Hey there Anos pretty pog introduction.

Not sure if it's super funny but definitely my peak of being drunk. I vaguely remember but I was told more about it afterwards. On my 21st towards the end of the night I've been told that I got really drunk and became super affectionate and huggy and went around just kinda draping myself onto people, was told that I should probably go to bed. Anyway apparently it got to the point where my bf ended up just picking me up over his shoulder and just carrying me off to bed. Woke up with a splitting headache and some decent amount of vague regret.

It would appear that you were banned for a duplicate account, this is most likely because haste changes your ip similarly to how a vpn does, I will unban you but please refrain from using programs that change your ip in the future.

First phone I ever owned was a Nokia 1100, one of these things.

I just bought Rocksmith again for PC in the autumn sale. I had it before on PS4, so I have the cable. I'm giving it a retry, since it keeps coming up
Yeah, I actually bought the les Paul jr bundle back on ps3 when it was first released, quickly found out that the customsforge ignition4 search on pc made switching a good idea.
-
yeah, a lot of the free custom songs are really well made too.
-
something that helped me starting out and even now is Rocksmith, it does a really good job of teaching guitar techniques and being able to visualise the notes really helps me, espeically when learning new songs. As a note from looking it up just now it's discounted a whole lot atm. Although you need a cable to plug it in or a really good mic to record sound and the cables are pretty expensive. Although as an added bonus the cable functions as a digital audio input that can feed into audacity and the game has a built in digital pedals and amps and stuff, but eh.

Oh cool Sabaton,
Here have some Voltaire, each of his albums are different
And this
I also find myself listening to this a bit, mostly with the video though. @Liloz01 makes a good point that it's not super niche however I've not seen a single person talk about it and whoever I bring it up to has never heard of it, so I'd say it's niche outside of Japan.

It looks like you were banned for a duplicate account, were you using a vpn at the time?

I very strongly (I can't emphasise this enough) prefer playing on HT1 over HT2, as it is the server that I am active on and I prefer playing on mostly vanilla servers over servers that have rtd and random crits, this is the same reason I prefer playing on 2fort 1 over 2fort 2, and is one of the reasons why I would very much prefer being the manager of HT1. If that isn't possible I would accept the responsibility and privilege of being HT2 manager but first and foremost I'd prefer HT1.
-
Activity and previous experience:
- I have a fairly good understanding of how the forums function and a very good understanding of how discord functions.
- I believe that I am fairly good at teaching people, especially when it comes to tech, I'm forever helping friends and family with problems and teaching them how to use tech and helping new volunteers at my volunteer work, as well as assisting my teachers at university with teaching the class during labs and tutorials after finishing my own work.
- I have some experience in running my own P2P servers with friends however that was some years ago using LogMeIn Hamachi.
- I believe I am fairly good at managing people, for example, I usually end up leading assignment groups at my university and I am good at managing people in my volunteer work. I believe that I am good at general server admin and moderation.
Technical ability:
- I don't have any experience handling TF2 community servers however I am excited to learn. I have a great deal of experience with programming both in my free time and for my university work across multiple languages (C#, html, python, PHP and some SQL).
- I'm knowledgeable in regard to most of the common issues with TF2 and steam and if I run into ones I haven't seen before I'm rather fast at finding a solution.
- I have basic knowledge of server management from both the TF2 server manager tutorial and Leks' manager tutorials, however I will probably need help with some aspects of it as this will be my first time managing a large TF2 server, however, I am always excited and willing to learn and would like to think that I learn fast.
Personal:
- I value the truth a lot and would like to believe that I am almost always truthful.
- I am able to ask for help when I need it.
- In almost all situations I can push aside my own personal opinions and be professional when acting on a situation.
- I have been told and believe that I am able to be very patient with people who need help and in resolving conflicts. No disabilities that you should be aware of.
Why I'm applying and other stuff:
I would like to help keep this community running, I've made some great friends and have a lot of fun playing on the server and talking on the discord. I would like to become the Hightower 1 server manager so that I can help keep it running smoothly and fix any issues should they arise, in addition I like to be able to help people with any problems they run into because I enjoy helping out whenever I can. I know I'm applying rather soon after joining the Hightower 1 staff, but I'd really like to help. As far as I know I have a good relationship with other people in the GFL community in general and especially the TF2 community, as well as being able to get along well with other admins and staff. To tell the truth, whether or not other people like me or are just faking it is one of the things I worry most about. I've never tried to start conflicts with other people in GFL and the couple that I've been involved in I've tried to resolve or avoid as fast as possible. Whether working or volunteering I enjoy working as a team with other people who also enjoy and are engaging in what they're doing. I really enjoy being able to help other people find resolutions to any problems or issues they might have with the server and/or steam or TF2. If I had to name any negative traits about myself it would be that I have a tendency to get distracted from or overfocus on a single task, and I also sometimes struggle to communicate my thoughts effectively. Overall, I think that I could be a good server manager, given the chance, and with time and help if/when I need it, even a really good one.
Thank you for taking the time to read my slightly rambling Hightower 1 server manager application.
