    I'm sorry to hear the team was reduced to just GFX, advertising via the youtube channel had some potential through ad revenue etc down the road. Oh, well. Thanks for letting me stick around and editing one last video before I went on my inactive spree :omegalul: School started again, I got a job, relationship, moving away, and life happened.  I'm not an artist at all so I don't think there's any point to me sticking around. I hope my videos (some good, some bad) help promote GFL over time. Thanks for all the support, good luck, and I wish nothing but the best for the team and GFL as a whole.

    P.S. Don't think I'm leaving GFL completely, although i'm inactive as heck.

    CS:GO 1v1 Promo Video -- Deadline: Jan. 24th, 2019 

     

    This is a video editing project, for advertising GFL's 1v1 server in CSGO. 

     

    Voiceover deadline: Jan 16th

    2nd project deadline: February 21th

     

    This project is another video, promoting GFL's CS:GO division as a whole. (2nd project deadline may change, things may come up irl and that's too far to tell if that's  good or not, but we'll see.)

     

    2. Why it's a good idea

    This is a perfect way to advertise GFL's server. YouTube is a great outlet to show off your community via video content.

     

    3. Complications you expect to encounter

    The only complications I expect to encounter is my irl schedule. Things often come up super randomly, and I seriously hope this doesn't interfere with my work. Definitely trying my best.

     

    4. What we can do to help you succeed

    It'd be great if we could have a recognizable voice for the video, explaining all of 1v1's features. Someone higher up perhaps, who would willingly like to sit in front of a mic for a few minutes and read a script, and talk about the server. Of course, this is optional, I could always do the voiceover myself but I figured it'd be more appealing if a higher-up did it. 

    Any suggestions in the technical part of editing are welcome! I'm always trying to get better and hopefully, I can learn something new from someone else. I'm using Sony Vegas Pro 14.

    I will be uploading the final project onto the channel as "unlisted", so everyone in PR+ can see before it's released publicly.

     

    The editing process is currently in progress.

    I was notified of this professional website that teaches the ins and outs of the Unreal Engine, 3D modelling and the basics of game development. They have their own discord that you can join, chat with members and ask for help on the homework or the current weeks' project. The first courses you enroll start on Dec. 9. At the time of posting this, the available courses are free for only the next 6 hours.

    ("Every 90 days we open up registration for a limited time to invite new students to enroll. All our courses are part of a 2 to 3 year curriculum and every class is free. However, all students must start with the first course and must be approved by Scholars to advance to the later courses." ~FAQ on their website.) 

     

    If anyone is interested in game development, grab this opportunity while you can (before waiting another 90 days lel). Their discord server is linked on their website I think. If you can't find it DM me and I'll send you the link.

    4k or 144hz?

    I would personally go for 2k at 144Hz. I own a 1440p monitor with 165Hz, and I'm in love. The high frame display I think would be way more useful than that extra resolution quality when it comes to gaming. Good luck!

    You're not the only one. Servers have seemed super ridiculous (on PC anyway), I had connection interrupted way too much last night. And it wasn't my internet, my ping was at a steady normal number. 

    Maybe their servers got flooded after Nuketown got added, idk.

    I wouldn't blame yourself for the server dying. Things just happen. Congratulations for not being a snowflake and enforcing the rules, despite what a lot of people disagreed with.
