 Hi guys, this is the update post spoken of in @Roy's recent update post here:

 

Mini Division Leaders

Current mini division leaders are:

 

RuneScape - @Benroyjam @Leks

Overwatch - @Darkling @SashaGrey

Destiny 2 - @Darkling @SashaGrey

League of Legends - @Darkling @Rcool64

 

As you can see, most of the mini divisions (other than RuneScape) are ran by the CA team. This isn’t an issue at all, but in order for us to fully develop them, we want to find people who can lead them with us. If you would like to help out with any mini divisions, then get in contact with either myself or @SashaGrey .

 

Current Mini Divisions

RuneScape

At the moment, this division isn’t doing too well. Both @Leks and @Benroyjam have found it difficult to recruit players in-game, as well as finding a reason why they should join GFL outright.

@Benroyjam is trying as hard as possible to make the forums the go-to place for RuneScape news and updates, as you all can see.

We are still discussing how we can help these guys further improve the mini division and we will keep you all posted with any updates.

 

Overwatch

At the moment, Overwatch is a game most of us play, but we haven’t quite got together properly since this division started. There are a few things that I have planned for this event-wise to help us all “group up”.

The first event is something we have all seen before, which is our Overwatch 1v1 competition! We have had a couple prizes donated towards this, which is amazing! As before, we will be giving everyone plenty of time to get to level 25+ and it will be hosted between the end of August and the beginning of September (date is still unconfirmed).

 

The second event is something I will be hosting once a week, starting on the 11th of August. I will be creating custom servers such as:

• Boss Fights - A 1v6 game mode tweaked to have an incredibly hard to kill “boss” hero and the opposing team has to try to defeat the boss.
• Hide and Seek - Seekers have normal health, increased damage and movement speed; hiders have less health, zero ultimate charge and have to stay alive for the round’s duration to win.
• Attack on Titan - One team contains only Hanzo, Genji and Widowmaker with improved movement speed and 65% cooldowns. The other team consists of Winston and Roadhog with buffs to their health and damage.
• Predator - One team consisting of three Soldier: 76s with no abilities enabled, along with lower health and speed, against one Sombra who is buffed with lower cooldowns and higher HP.

Plus much more.

 

Along with this division, we are going to start planning our Overwatch team for the extravaganza which should be just around the corner (date as of yet unconfirmed); the team will need to be able to attend organised scrims and work on teamplay together. This is a little preemptive as the Overwatch extravaganza has yet to be announced, but I would like to have a team ready and able to take home the trophy!

Destiny 2

After talking with @RickGrimesTM, he asked us about the possibility of having a Destiny 2 mini division. We haven’t really explored Bungie games as of yet, so we decided this would be a good time to dive in.

The open beta for PC starts on the 28th of August (there is early access for pre-orders). The sub-forum for Destiny 2 is now open and we would like to know everyone who intends to play the game so that we can get some groups going during the beta.

For anyone hoping to represent GFL in Destiny 2 (or any Bungie game), there is an official group we would love for you all to join! I have set this up very recently, and we’ll use this as a way to link the GFL forums and the Bungie gaming community together!

League of Legends

Whilst helping organise the League extravaganza we noticed that we have quite a lot of members who still play and are interested in League. This brought it to our attention that we should support this community by adding it to our mini divisions.

We currently have a group/clan made for NA which we stopped using at some point in the past.  We are remaking the group/clan so that we can use them on both NA and EU. We’ll update you once they have been made within the League sub forum.

We may be looking for an actual team to form after this for future events; this is something we will keep you posted on.

 

Possible future mini divisions

• Rainbow Six: Siege
• Minecraft
• Warframe
• Titanfall 2
• Event servers (servers which host different games/game modes created for the month)
• Black Desert Online
• PUBG (via a community tool which is still in beta, this will allow us to modify our own custom servers; this could be something we look at once released and could possibly be a full division)

 

These are all suggestions which have been brought to the community advisor team. We want to know what you guys think about these and if you have any other suggestions to add!

 

Remember that the current qualifications for making a mini division are:

• The division must, at the very least, start with 8 active members to help start it
• Must be some way to provide a group for the players
• We shouldn’t need to host a server for us to recruit players

These will be expanded upon in a separate thread within the mini division section.

 

eSports Teams

Here I would like to talk about our eSports teams. We currently have a team for CS:GO who are less active forum-wise and haven’t played any games recently.

We will be looking to form teams in multiple games and I would rather recruit them using active members of the forums (if needed we will still be recruiting from outside of GFL if we don’t have the needed ranks to form a team).

The teams will receive some form of reward for their time and effort within the eSports division, which is yet to be decided upon. They will have private channels to use in TeamSpeak if needed and will be working with the Creative Team so that they can stream games/warm up matches/training videos.

This doesn’t mean that every game will be getting an eSports team; it will solely depend on the game and the team members we have to pick from.

The RuneScape team needs to have some entry level and free to play (F2P) activities available.  I also suggested making guides to help redirect some of the traffic to a place like GFL.  RuneScape has a lot of activities, skills and quests.  I could not find any GFL related content on the RuneScape Official Forums (RSOF).  This is a big mistake.

 

 

People are literally looking for clans and RSOF is a very limited forums constrained by resources and rules.  This often leads people to joining forums like ours.  I play less than once per week and I've had no problem recruiting people into the other clan I'm in.

 

Another strategy to consider is this whole clan affiliation/collaboration thing.

I've been considering to post a recruitment thread in an RS fan-site called Zybez. The site has what we need in order to gather people. There will also be another activity in F2P through OSRS - which is, by the way already free. Jagex recently made Castle War free-to-play. 

 

Unfortunately, to post in Zybez, according to the rules, we gotta link them back. This is possible, so I will have to talk to Leks about this. Also, I will be bumping the thread on the clan recruitment. They have a rule that you can only bump every 10 minutes.

They probably can't, which is why @Darkling mentioned that they're searching for people dedicated to these individual divisions to help them lead.

It's also worth noting that some of these divisions may simply require a greater deal of care than others, depending on the circumstances. I'm sure @Darkling and @SashaGrey are more than capable of figuring out where to divert the majority of their time and effort.

@Darkling, The entire esports team for csgo quit. They no longer sponsor or do anything for GFL. I talked to both the former leaders already, they all left the team. So there isn't a team at all.

Sounds like we will need to be forming another team then. I'm currently (and have been for the past couple weeks) trying to contact the other team members and see if we can still keep some of them. I'll keep you all posted on news with the eSports teams in that sub forum. I will say one thing, I will be making sure that the next iteration of the team will be much more integrated into the community.

For the time being both myself (along with the other supporting leaders) will be able to support all the current mini divisions. We know how to balance our time between everything. My concern is with expansion. I don't want this to stagnate, with people who are passionate and want to help within the mini divisions we can keep everything moving forward.

 

Shuruia stated it very well that some divisions take less effort for meaningful results compared with others. I know that I can always rely on the help from all of you guys which means we aren't quite as small of a team it looks. Everything that is being done is because one of you suggested it or someone is helping us push it forward! The community is what makes these mini divisions work which is why I'll always turn to you all for guidance!

tbh I thought it was being kept on the down low or something because it would of been as easy as viewing a steam profile... I was expecting more then the higher ups seem to be capable of tbh I never knew people that get an e-sports team and just completely ignore the whole team. I mean we are talking about something so simple as just viewing a steam profile. I guess I expected to much though and for that I am sorry. Also you can look back in the ts3 logs and see when they stopped using our ts3 server it's really a simple put 2 and 2 together kind of deal... anyways http://steamcommunity.com/id/chills46/
