I think this one is another fun topic, and I've seen it become a hot topic in other communities.  Are you a vegetarian or vegan, and/or what do you think of it or of the other nutritional trends?

It's not too unusual in California.  A family member and close friends are vegetarians, and I was already not eating a lot of meat; so: The commitment wasn't difficult for me to become a vegetarian too, but I still eat a lot of dishes with eggs.  I strongly avoid obviously sources of added sugars (no candy, no syrup, salad dressings, etc.)

I noticed people were very mystified by it while I was visiting Texas although there were a lot of great vegetarian options in my area and the food was delicious.  Some people feel like vegetarians are pretty imposing if they eat with them in groups- they seem like they make others "guilty" or "evil" for eating meat, and I have even seen them post these gnarly videos on their social media or show it on their phone just before everyone is about to eat.  I think that's super rude and I can totally respect others eating whatever they want.  I don't impose; they don't impose, and we're all happy.

I see a lot of confusion between vegetarians and vegans, and another common one is pescatarian.  Vegetarian is typically no meat; vegans are no animal products (and some are so firm on this, that they include these rules beyond their meals such as animal tested products); and pescatarians are like a soft-vegetarian where they allow fish in their diet, and some are okay with a little bit of chicken from time to time.  I think of our nutrition as a very large scale where you can be between the extremes don't have to strictly follow their rules if it's not your cup of tea.  Do whatever works for you or you enjoy, and if that's eating extra bacon on everything and BBQ for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and followed by a bacon wrapped sugary dessert, then that's okay by me.

I follow a healthy diet for me I guess? which consists of some meat lots of carbs bread, and the such for carbs, a little bit of dairy and a crap load of antioxidants, aka a giant thing of blueberrys every day.

Wait....didn't you recommend me a burger place to visit? How would you know those burgers are good? :lenny:

I use to eat meat, and especially during my first visit to San Diego.  I think I recommended Hodad's, and I'd be really surprise if I left out the Korean BBQ or anything on Convoy over there...  Interestingly: I'm back in San Diego, but not for very long.  I began phasing out a lot of foods at the beginning of 2015 when I returned from Washington, DC, and this has slowly evolved and was shaken up while I was in Europe.

I just found that thread: https://gflclan.com/forums/topic/3016-any-good-places-to-visit-in-san-diego/?do=findComment&comment=16090.  Wow!  I made a lot of great recommendations ;)  Those pictures are super old!

I love blueberries, but they're so expensive!  I add them to my homemade pancakes.

(That's an over-easy egg on top)

Wow, this is becoming intense.  I'm such an outcast!

I have to confess I've never understood "antioxidants."  I feel like it's a word fabricated for marketing and sales.  Have you noticed any benefits from eating the way you do or focusing on these groups?  I also never understood Gatorade.  Why not just drink water, lol?
