Joshy 4,380 / 45,325 Report Post Posted December 20, 2017 Edited December 20, 2017 by Joshy I think I've seen a few holiday threads, but let's get to the true meaning of Christmas. Is it all about family? Friends? Togetherness? I don't know, but what do you guys want for the holidays? Don't get too crazy. Bae 2,489 / 41,553 Report Post Posted December 20, 2017 For me it's family since my dad's birthday is 23rd, sister-in-law is 24th, my aunt is 27th, and I'm 26th. So definitely family. I put these three things as my wishlist: mug/cup, art supplies, and beanie/hat. But I actually wanted something else... way expensive though. credits to @Clavers
 Achievements

ScootypTooty 371 / 8,393 Report Post Posted December 20, 2017 I have to agree with everyone. It means a lot for me that I can spend time with my bro who lives on the other side of the world. I love seeing him and Christmas is the only time I have a definite chance of seeing him. I sometimes get to see him during the summer. It's just really nice to be able to talk with him about what's changed... It's funny to think about how he's always been so much taller and bigger than me since he's 8 years older, but now i'm almost his height (he's 6'2 ) haha. Personally for my wishlist; A monitor so I can play on my ps4 in my room (and use when my laptop screen breaks lol). I currently have my bro's old VGA monitor which doesn't work with the ps4 unless I get a tonne of cables which is tedious. I'm glad I'm able to get a proper monitor xd some games that I can play with my brother (Bloodborne or Styx, I know they're 1 player games but i've always loved to watch my bro play games lol). But the best gift is just having the four of us sit around the dinner table and just talking about life. It's nice to talk and discuss what's going on. I guess I'm lucky to have parents to whom I can talk freely to.
starsandspiders 63 / 2,586 Report Post Posted December 21, 2017 I personally don't celebrate Christmas because my family is Jewish culturally, and atheist religiously. But we celebrate New Year's in the Russian style, which is where we set up a tree, decorate it like Christmas, bring the family together, and exchange presents at midnight. There's a whole mythology about Grandfather Frost (Ded Moroz) and his daughter, Snow-girl (her name in Russian is Snegurochka). But when we do celebrate the Holidays, it's really about family and loving each other. My sister lives in Chicago and the holidays are one of the only times I get to see her, and it's always lovely. In terms of wishlist, I really LOVE books and I really want new eyeshadows (I'm a makeup nerd in addition to being a token gamer girl on GFL, wow. Never thought I'd write out that sentence). So if anyone's rich, hit me up and I'll send you my paypal (JK LMAO my GOD). Also @JerryHatTrick I'm a BOMB cook. What do you want me to cook you If you can't receive it I'll just send love instead (yeah, I know I'm nauseating). The token gay girl of GFL. What am I doing right now, you ask?? Sliding in your ma's DM's ;)))))
Roxie_Foxie 740 / 10,227 Report Post Posted December 21, 2017 Edited December 21, 2017 by Roxie_Foxie 10 hours ago, Joshy said: but let's get to the true meaning of Christmas Going literal here cause I can, spoiler contains religious content and was hidden in case it offended anyone you have been forewarned Christmas is a pagan Sun worship "holiday" adapted by Christians as a "holy day" "The Christmas tree is a 17th-century German invention, University of Bristol's Hutton told LiveScience, but it clearly derives from the pagan practice of bringing greenery indoors to decorate in midwinter. The modern Santa Claus is a direct descendant of England's Father Christmas, who was not originally a gift-giver. However, Father Christmas and his other European variations are modern incarnations of old pagan ideas about spirits who traveled the sky in midwinter, Hutton said" Source- https://www.livescience.com/25779-christmas-traditions-history-paganism.html , http://www.humanreligions.info/christmas.html Edited December 21, 2017 by Roxie_Foxie
