If Valve never added skins, it would be easy to remove guns with damaging the steam economy.

honestly once they added skins, the counter strike community has become so toxic lmao

I wish they werent taking down all these gambling sites. Many of them are legit, so instead of being lazy and shutting down every single one, how about valve checks those sites and declare if they're legit or not.

Well, it puts Valve in a weird spot. Gambling begs the question of whether or not skins are actually worth $$$. Which seems like a question that Valve doesn't want brought up. Valve says no, but everyone else says yes.

If they say some of the sites are legit then you still get gambling and parents complaining about their kids losing real life $$$ on skins. Which then hurts Valve because they'll be claiming that Valve endorses gambling. If they say some of the sites are legit but require an age limit so there's no "illegal" gambling concurring, then people will see it as them admitting that skins are worth money.

The best thing for Valve is to just shut it all down and keep saying that skins aren't worth money.

If skins are indeed worth money then people could make the argument that the case system is actually gambling. Since you put money in and you get money out. Which, depending on your luck, can give you a good pay off or a bad one.

If you want to save csgo gambling, then go here: http://www.ipetitions.com/petition/save-the-csgo-gambling-sites

(Oh, and major push, you made some really good points there, but I just wish those parents could just magically keep their kids from gambling online and just monitor them a little more instead of complain. Kinda like with M rated games.

The problem is not the skins or Valve but honestly just other peoples greediness, if all these people just said that they were co-owners or were taking equity then it would of been fine. But the thirst for money and skins is turning CSGO into a shit show. I love CSGO, i love skins and i honestly enjoyed doing a little betting on CsgoLounge. Just the shit skins i got as drops. In the end its peoples own faults for why gambling has turned to shit. People are too damn greedy for their own good, don't get me wrong i believe PhantomL0rd was maybe hated a bit too much on IMO, but you have Tmartn and Syndicate (who i would like to say this situation hasnt changed too much on how i think about him). joshOG, m0e who have been caught or exposed for this type of greediness. I bet there are a shit ton of other streamers/youtubers who are just like these people who have been Exposed but just haven't been caught yet. Same was with a match-fixing scandal with iBuyPower, I bet all my skins that there were atleast 25-40 instances of match fixing. Its just IBP were the only ones who got caught. In the end, I believe gambling/betting is an Okay thing to do, you can have some excitement and some fun, you lose some or win some, the problem is people's own fucking greediness to now know when to stop. P.S Summmit made a very good point talking about Parents and how their kids lost real money to online gambling, As a parent you should be monitoring almost all your childrens behavior and or just things they are doing, you can't blame a company or figure which your inability to probably parent.

I forgot to reply. Anyway:

What's stopping any of the gambling sites from faking their trustworthiness until they get whitelisted by valve only to turn around and start doing shady shit like fixing the bets?

The problem with these gambling websites is that there's ultimately no way to check if they're cheating or not to make a lot of profit. I honestly don't think that those gambling websites that worked like slot machines should exist since they're shady as fuck. I'm a bit less critical of the websites that let you bet on the outcome of games since they can't be rigged by the site owners. The problem, of course, pops up when the players being bet on start betting against themselves.

So I don't think that gambling websites should exist for CSGO.

its a shame, they could have sold the rights to indian casinos and made a fortune and used the money to make HL3

In Poland, we have saying: "Why you problem make, when you no problem have that you don't want to make?"
