theESTONvlog 1 / 1,050 Report Post Posted September 17, 2018 Hurricane Florence (now downgraded to Tropical Storm Florence) made landfall on the Carolina's as a category 2 hurricane. This was better than what was predicted, making landfall as a CAT 4 hurricane. Florence was expected to make landfall over the coast and then stall dumping perhaps trillions of gallons of water, and it has done so. The flooding has already destroyed homes and buildings, but it isn't done yet. The flooding is so bad the state transportation unit is urging people to not travel through the state. Yikes. According to CNN, when the storm moves away, it will have dumped over 40 inches of rain in parts of southeastern North Carolina. The storm has claimed at least 17 lives. The storm is starting to move up east and could dump 2 to 4 inches of rain in West VA, PA, and New York.
