Event Suggestion Megathread + The Future of Events (yet again)

Event nomination: "Defending Intensive".

30 min maximum playtime each for "ze_hold_em" & "ze_pirotexnik".

 

special kickers:

I am not familiar with special kickers, but feel free to add any creative and fun ones to some of these maps, like using certain weapon only or infinite ammo.

Event Nomination: "Maps GFL has beaten -- Old Maps, Older Settings - Part I"

Consists of:

  • ze_lila_panic_escape_hellz_v2
  • ze_ffxii_westersand_v5_2
  • ze_fapescape_b4_1
  • ze_parkers_pit_b8
  • ze_ffvii_mako_reactor_v3_1

Special Kickers:

  • Maps will be played with our brand new "Classic GFL" settings. (800 ammo, fire grenades, no Top Defender, no NoShake, no Defender money, lower Zombie knockback and rebuys enabled at normal weapon prices except for Kevlar, which costs $9000)

Special Kickers:

  • Both maps will be played with PlagueFest settings.
  • All weapons will be restricted except for the P90, TMP, HE Grenade, Combat Knife and all pistols.

An admin rolls a 6 sided die in order to figure out the setting for each map

 

30 minutes per map

 

1: normal gfl (if we have i3d then change normal gfl to old gfl config that was used a little while ago)

2: sonaki

3: hellz

4: pf

5: chaos

6: i3d (idk if we have i3d if we don't then can we use the old gfl config that was used a little while ago?)

Event Nomination: "A Quivering Shaurmarathon" Map Combo

Consists of:

  • ze_shaurma_escape_v1_0

Special Kickers:

  • Shaurma v1 will be played with pistols only
  • Shaurma v2 will be played with AKs only and i3D settings (Faster zombies, fire grenades replaced with knockback grenades)
  • Shaurma v3 will be played with AKs only
  • All Shaurma v4 versions and Quiver will be played normally

Event Nomination: "Monkey Problems" Map Combo

Consists of:

  • ze_ny_marathon_v4_1
  • ze_jungle_escape_v1_2 (the jenz version which has 4 levels and is significantly more challenging than the other jungleEscape map)
  • ze_ponchermonkey_shooter_v3_5

Special Kickers:

  • NY marathon will be played with pistols only, also helicopter ending doesn't count
  • Failnades enabled on NY marathon

Given the intensity of this week's event, I have minor edits to the Special Kickers for this map combo. Specifically:

 

Special Kickers:

  • Classic spawn for icecap. In addition, we would start from stage 5 (out of 6) and limit map time to 25 minutes (+ last round). - this should set the theme of the event and allow late folks to join before next map, w/o being a burner.
  • Fall-damage enabled on Mako only. - There is actually not much benefit of keeping fall damage on the other 2 maps

Event Nomination: "Watch your steps" Map Combo (capturing my old suggestion from thread #225, with edits)

Consists of:

  • ze_lolxd_final_s
  • ze_chandrila_st1_fix
  • ze_serpentis_temple_v2a

Special Kickers:

  • sv_friction set to 0 on lolxd (every 10 minutes we'll add 1 to the friction until it's back to normal which is 4, but only at the start of a new round)
  • Fall damage enabled on Chandrila with sv_gravity set to 400 (to offset spots where fall damage cannot be avoided). Bhop disabled to compensate for the reduced gravity

Notes for Chandrila settings:

  • sv_gravity 400 seems to provide the right balance, where u can still avoid all damage, yet easily die if not careful. Also I didn't find any map-breaking shortcuts with this setting
  • There are 3 possible paths after diamond room puzzle, chosen at random after trigger. The left one has a deep fall where sv_gravity would need to be temporarily reduced to 50, unless there is a way to add intermediate platform via stripper
  • Regarding bhop, maybe we can see how the map goes first and then disable it if needed
