So you want to be an admin on Prop Hunt, huh?Start first by looking at this GIF: Now that you've seen this GIF, start reading here: You've started reading this post because you aspire to be an admin. You want to keep all those pesky rule-breakers in check. Sounds easy, right? WRONG! Being an admin is an elite corps. We make sure that pesky rule-breakers are indeed kept in check. Is it any more than that? Yes, and no. If you really want to be an admin, I'll be here to give you some tips on what to expect as an admin, as well as touch up on some requirements for the job because the best things in life ain't free. Grab a chair and some popcorn. Or better yet, stand up and read it! It's good for you! Sgt. Squiddy's Guide for Aspiring Admins Act I: Pregame 1. Professionalism Just like any good paying job, you need to know when to hold 'em, when to fold 'em, and when to keep your pants on. It takes a great deal of maturity to help run this ph_starship. For starters, read the application guidelines to see if you meet any of the potential qualifications. Remember, we can't let just anyone run this show! A detail of importance: You need to be at least 13 and up in order to apply in the first place. It's also the minimum required age to use Discord per their terms of service. 2. Patience When and if you decide to apply, go find something else to do while we take a look at your application. Grab some coffee or some ramen! Be sure to check back every now and then to see feedback from any of us here! If you see that we spoke positively about your application, good for you! Give yourself a pat on the back! If we spoke neutrally or negatively, take a few moments to think about the feedback said by us. But do not, I repeat, do not be discouraged! If your behavior in game isn't as clean as a [insert metaphorical clean item here], take some time to reflect on what you may be doing wrong and work to improve your behavior. If your application gets the thumbs up by us, congratulations! We'll be sending virtual handshakes and hugs your way! If your application gets the thumbs down by us, we're sorry. You can reapply in 2 weeks if you still want to. Make sure you can use that time wisely and improve your image to us. Whichever way your application goes, we wish you the best of luck! Act II: Take the Field 3. Fortitude Fortitude: (noun) Mental and emotional strength in facing difficulty, adversity, danger, or temptation courageously. Assuming that you do make it to the ranks of Admin, you'll need a brain of steel to help us deal with rule-breakers (or "stinkies" as @TheThirdReaper calls them). What follows is a wonderful list of what kind of "stinkies" you may encounter: People who ghost in the server People who ghost out of the server (like in Discord) Micspam Chat spam Racist/homophobic language People who promote politics Hackers People who get outside the map Props who camouflage themselves into map geometry where no one can see them Props who don't change out of t-posing (Not against the rules at all, but you know who you are @PerOcules) Dealing with all this nonsense may sound tough, but it's all part of the job. We'll provide you with all the tools you need to maintain order and peace, as well as your own eardrums. Maintain a positive mindset, and you won't be so easy to troll. Just remember not to feed them. Act III: Touchdown 4. Congregation One of the most important aspects of being an admin is to not just follow and enforce the rules, but to have fun! Yeah, that sounds cheesy as all hell, but seriously. Make sure to familiarize yourself with the Message of the Day (!MOTD) and make sure the other players know, too. As long as everyone's having fun, you will too! If someone's ruining the fun, step in and fix it! I hope that this guide helps you understand a bit more of what being an Admin is like.
