small easy suggestion

Recommended Posts

i think that the !roles thread should have a reply that shows the models of all roles which receive special models. this will help new/returning players identify those roles, and prevent them from seeing, for example, an undead, and killing them. thank you

not super necessary imo, like if they have fists they bad, if deagle then good. maybe this could be added to rolesextra (or we could just say, "hl2 zombie and fast zombie" as descriptions of the models.)

disagree, very necessary, people see zombie like models and gop "DIE DIE DIE" sometimes

+1 i dont really see how this would hurt and it would probably take like 5 minutes to just put a png of the model in the thing

I mean i think knowing the fact that there are good zombies(undead) when your new is a reason to need to know how to differentiate between roles like those so you dont accidently rdm the undead

did you miss the part where i said new/returning players? also, not everyone knows what the hl2 zombie/fastzombie look like. there's no cost to adding this, and it would make a very confusing set of roles a little bit less confusing. shinigami/undead gets killed by confused innos frequently enough that this would be a nice little addition. +1

big agree, maybe even add pics of the models in the message itself if possible, in their corresponding role sections. maybe some players won't think to look at the replies of the thread, but idk

Seems like a simple thing to do anyway for new players and returning players. Also maybe add the weapon's to the list because its can shows to new players what weapon is kosble because the type of role, like the marker that has the paintball gun.

I made my simplified roles post to make a very simple and easy to read list of roles. I think a better idea than this would be adding another command showing all the custom role models, including doom slayer, bulwark, awoken, infected, shinigami, and undead. In my opinion this would work a lot better just due to the amount of different roles with custom models, and the !models (or something) command should be mentioned in !roles and !rolesextra (maybe the motd too)

adding on to my previous suggestion, I think that this could possibly be added and since I want a post made just dedicated to the models, there is no point not including all the custom weapons.
EDIT: in fact, I can just make this myself 😛

it's hard enough to get any new player to use !roles already, and frankly nobody uses !rolesextra. nobody is going to want to use another command, and adding every custom weapon onto that will just make it an information overload. obviously it's your prerogative to make whatever post you want, but i don't think your suggestion is mutually exclusive with mine. the main issue is people shooting undead/shinigami because they think they're evil- we don't need to throw the kitchen sink at it. more =/= better

in my opinion, anyone smart enough to read the roles would be able to recognize a model just by a short description of it in the roles list, so I think most of the problem would be solved by that. as you said, quite a few players don't even read the roles, part of the reason being because even with my simplified list its still quite long. I think another reason a models command would work is because you just have to look at images, you don't have to spend time reading descriptions of the roles.

I think it's kinda stupid to say this lol. and it really depends how you describe it. Take Doom Slayer. You could describe its model as "Has the model of the character from the game Doom", but then theres people who don't know anything about that game. Bad example cause doom slayer also has the music but still. Also, Infected and Undead have very similar models, how would you differentiate them in a way thats clear enough?
Shinigami and Awoken could probably get away with just a short description, ive actually never seen bulwarks model cause I always die on bulwark rounds or am the bulwark and dont look at the model when I die
but infected and undead, the main problem, would be very hard to differentiate in a description

I agree with lobsterpaws comment, no one would use a new command. You acknowledge yourself that barely anyone uses !roles, just because its just images doesn't mean more people will use it. People just don't want to open a site while  they are in game. A new command is just pushing the problem out of the way, not actually addressing it.
it could still be made, but at the very least infected and undead need images in the !roles command, they are just too similar.

as this is the main problem, I think that images put in spoilers would do the trick
