GFL Newsletter - May/June 2022

This is the GFL Newsletter for May and June 2022. It's been quite a while, but that hasn't brought our quality down! As always, be sure to congratulate everyone else who got promoted this month by checking the promotion list from the last two months at the bottom of the newsletter!

Quite a while ago, it was decided that TF2 needed to have another Division Leader on board. Although the division now has two Division Leaders, that doesn’t mean that the kudos they receive should be split in half! With @Cuasi joining @Hamtaro in TF2, the division is bound to soar high in the sky.

The Community Representative elections came around again last month, and none of the previous Representatives got re-elected. The last one had a few roadbumps and wasn't exactly perfect, but these elections went just fine and ran smoother than ever! The two who were elected are @Scott, who is the server manager of TF2 2Fort, and @Baconator, who formerly led the Rust division before its closure. If you have not already, congratulate them both!

Attention all mappers! In mid-June, it was revealed that GFL would be partnering with Mapeadores in their CS:GO “Zombie Apocalypse” Zombie Escape Map Contest! The task for map-makers is straightforward: to create a map where a proper zombie apocalypse could feasibly occur. The prizes associated with the top-ranked maps are as follows (all in USD)…

 

1st: $250

2nd: $150 

3rd: $50

Best Runner-Up: $50

 

The contest is accepting submissions until October 1, so there is still plenty of time to get started! Both participants and interested spectators can head to the contest Discord server here: https://discord.gg/4yM9cfswQD

In late June, GFL hosted its very own CS:GO Surf Tournament. Not only was this GFL’s first, but it was also the biggest Surf Tournament ever. The tournament took place on June 25th and June 26th with 16 participants. It concluded with Liquidator in first, Bzukey in second, and Moonkey in 3rd. Huge congratulations to these three and good job to all those who participated. This tournament was a huge success and we hope to do more big events like it.

My favourite part of it was Scott and Baconator 🙂.  Congratulations to them, and the candidates we had were very good choices too and will probably have a good run in the future or return in a different capacity.
