It is surreal to think the place I grew up on, the place I made my most long lasting friends, came from this community. Thank you for all the good times you've given me and many others, for raising us from very troubled (and edgy!) childhoods, and for seeing us grow up, o7. I know I changed a lot through my time in GFL, and so have many others. I wish you all wonder lives filled with great happiness.

this shit went down after the pandemic I felt like, people started to get outside, back into life again. and so did I to be honest, I enjoyed GFL when I first got GMOD. and I must say, playing ever since i was 12 and now being nearly an adult is crazy. I just can’t believe time flies so fast man, as of this state. I enjoyed y'all, great memories in anarchy, and by far had the funniest nights ever. Y’all made my summers and zoom meetings during school crazy asf, and I really enjoyed it. I still come back to this place every so often, but it has been decreasing since I’ve been seeking more communities and just been busy with life. Thank you GFL and the people who played with me, and my past friends. Thank you!

What a run from GFL. I remember when it started out and everyone knew it as the server with all the monkeys and people who sucked but wanted to vibe. 14 Years is a hell of a lot longer than most communities get to, even more so considering the civil war of 2016 and the changes in management. GFL Shaped ze into what it is today and had a impact beyond that in the community realm of source games. It will never get the fame as other communities but it was just as important because of what it meant to us and fuck what the others thought or didn't think about it. It was our community from the deranged css community to the chill and totally gay csgo community to the psychotic 24/7 2fort community. Wasn't some corporate soulless server with a agenda it was just a bunch of servers where we made out own groups and made our gamemodes a fun place to be in. 

Don't be sad it's gone be glad it happened in this world of everything merging and turning soulless. Better to die a hero folks.

Sad to see things tear apart, but happy to see some of it is salvageable.  Thank you to those who are taking over their respective domains, and thank you to everyone who has supported and helped the community.  I've been happy to enjoy this community for... I think I'm reaching close to 10 years now.

 

There have been several ups and downs, but I consider it an overall net positive along with lots of lessons learned and fun people to meet.  I had a good experience here and enjoyed my time with so many of you.

Perhaps it's more the slow grind of time than anything else that finally did GFL in. From Roy being a squeaker all the way back in 2011 to now, there's been a few times where GFL's future looked uncertain from one bad occasion to another. We weathered those metaphorical storms, but everyone's older now. People move on, and things like this eventually need to be put to rest.
