General Information:

 

This is an event-vote based off our Event Megathread (which means next week we'll open up a regular nominations thread), if you'd like to see your own nomination show up in these megathread votes don't forget to drop your nomination in said thread and it'll be picked!

 

Information on what these nominations are will be written in this post.

These votes will close on: Friday June 4th @ 6:00AM CDT

Event Nomination: "Watch your steps" Map Combo -- by Slipstream

Consists of:

Special Kickers:

  • sv_friction set to 0.1 on lolxd, and only the first stage will be played.
  • Fall damage enabled on Chandrila with sv_gravity set to 400 (to offset spots where fall damage cannot be avoided). Bhop disabled to compensate for the reduced gravity.

Event Nomination: "Stick together and don't stop moving" Map Combo -- by _William_

Consists of:

Special Kickers:

  • If Biohazard2 is beaten on the first try (as people are joining / event is just starting) then we'll play until we win a second time just so more people have a chance at winning.
  • We'll only play the last 3 stages in Ominous Rumors.
  • We'll only play Bomb mode in Temple Raider.
  • We'll attempt to win both normal and secret endings in Silent Hill.

As far as I'm aware Sky Athletic causes random crashes near the end of one of the later stages, so it's not recommended to go with that map.

Ugh, that's unfortunate. That map has some really good stages but it's not longer played on GO

 

I guess can you then change the kicker to: sv_friction set to 0.1 on lolxd (no readjustments), and only the 1st stage will be played.

 

Honestly, the gameplay with friction 1 is no different than 4, then again 0.1 would be enough to ensure humans can still time their jumps and have fun with zombie trying to gain speed from strafe, without making the map unbeatable.  The 2nd stage is pointless as well, way too easy. Also, however unlikely, if this overlaps with Unloze event, would be curious to see which server does better

So instead of increasing by 1 every 10 minutes we increase by 0.1? Or only set the starting friction to 0.1 and increase by 1?

Just set the starting friction to 0.1 and don't increase it. The trick here is that holds have a jump part, so even though zombies can gain a lot of speed if allowed, there is still that gap that humans can leverage. So as long as we don't keep losing too many players to jumps, falling platforms, etc. the gameplay should remain balanced. Also, 0.1 friction allows humans to stop movement completely, so even if someone can't bhop they would still have an opportunity to take time at each jump, pause and hop to the next platform (there might be some panic in the 1st rounds, but you get easily used to the settings)
