Why you should be unbanned: I am not a bot? Not sure what this means but it might have something to do with my VPN.

Duplicate account bans occur when an IP address from a banned player is observed.   Duplicate account bans are in place to prevent banned players from creating a new Steam account and rejoining servers from which they were banned.

 

If a player that was going through the same egress IP address as your VPN was banned, then you'd be flagged as a duplicate account.  Yes.

 

Your IP address was the same as another player that was banned on GMod for ghosting and received a 1-week ban

Because you tapped in from the same IP address, you were banned as the dupe account.

 

Your appeal might be legit - Follow up with more on your VPN information -   You're shown coming in from San Jose, CA.

 

If your VPN is the root cause, unbanning your account will just result in another ban for the same reason when your IP address from the VPN egress point is observed.  So you may want to adjust your VPN to a different egress server.

 

Also - it goes without saying - playing FoF over a VPN is never a good idea.

Clarify that unbanning will just cause you to be banned again

I could just not use a VPN to play. Im connected to seattle as I type this but if i play ill just turn it off
