Creating a CS:GO Surf Stat Site

Recommended Posts

I believe it would be extremely beneficial if GFL provided a website where you could view your surf stats (this could also be implemented for the bhop server/other servers). I remember when I used to surf on sneaK's, they had an entire website dedicated to every player who surfed on the server, and you could easily look up your/another player's name and it would show you a list of every map they completed with the time next to it, their rank, and so on (I put the link attatched to sneaK's stat website here).

I know GFL has a similar "/profile" command in the server, but it doesn't show your stats for each map you've completed, and it's a pain to view it in game. Having a website dedicated to these player stats would be advantageous, and I believe it would increase player/time competitiveness.

I'm not sure how difficult it would be to create an entire other website to link these two things together because I have no knowledge of scripting, coding, or whatever, but if there is someone on the GFL development team who has that knowledge, I truly believe that having a website of some sort with the times listed would be extremely beneficial in many ways, especially for competitive surfers.

We do, not exactly identical to other communities and is still a WIP, but we have: https://surf.gflclan.com/

Dini and Infra would be able to elaborate more on their plans for it, but i just know we have that for now lol

yeah, i saw that you guys have something similar. i just thought it would be better if you could see all of the players times, ranks, etc. and synced the surf database to the website. then you could be able to filter maps/players and see your times, etc.

Heyo, this is a project in development right now in two stages: the first being an upgrade to the current one that will provide all of these features, and the second being a custom one built from the ground up.

I’ve been working on the first stage for a bit but haven’t had much free time to get it fully working just yet (also with my super long to-do list atm) - it’s on my to-do list though and will be done soon hopefully! It only needs a little more work and then we’ll be good.

We will announce in our Discord when we progress on this, so if you’d like to keep up to date on that and maybe even provide feedback on it when we do progress on it, you should join: https://discord.gg/gfl

Here are some previews of stuff so far. It's based on the public SurfTimer Web Stats project, forked and adapted for ourselves. The fork is open source, so if you'd like to see someone very new to PHP try to navigate through editing the project, here you go: https://gitlab.gflclan.com/csgo-surf/Surftimer-Web-Stats (it's in the dev branch)

Most of the focus on this fork is modifying small things for ourselves and fixing some bugs the testing team have found. Apart from that, it'll look just like the public one until we can get to re-theming it. No dark mode yet unfortunately, but that's something we can figure out after release! 😄

The data on this page is sourced using new queries that I spent some time designing. They are far more accurate than what we use in-game, but that will change soon as I will be making the data sourcing queries for our SurfAPI network match the upcoming website so the data lines up across the board!

The front page is fairly standard, just about the same data provided as other stats pages. The bottom of it is tweaked from the public branch to line up the three WR leaderboards in the same row as the testing team decided it would be cleaner:
