Hey guys!

Earlier this evening one of our Staff members confided in Aurora, Infra, and myself about a major problem his family is facing. His dad recently had major surgery and has been out of work for some time now. As a single parent out of work trying to take care of his teenage son, he's been unable to provide enough income to support them. This wouldn't be a huge issue if the unemployment claim his dad put in was approved, but as of four days ago it was denied. He started back to work on the 11th, but will not be paid until around the 26th-29th of the month, and their bills are already overdue. They are facing eviction tomorrow if they cannot raise enough money to not only pay these outstanding bills as well as the rent that they owe.

This is the part where we come in. We're going to be sharing their GoFundMe below, so if you feel inclined, please donate, anything you can give will help.
As I write this, they need around $600 USD to reach their goal, and anything above that amount will go towards and taking care of other expenses in their lives.

 

GFL has decided to contribute $100 to the cause. This decision wasn't fully voted on by Council when it happened, but it was retroactively voted in favour of.

I cannot believe the amount of support you all have given me and my father in just 35 minutes within the announcement of my situation. My father and I will never be able to express our gratitude to this wonderful and amazing community. I will be sure to update this situation to the best of my ability past this point. Anything past our goal of $3,000 will help go toward our outside bills and other funds needed until we are stable again. At the time of writing this, we have hit $3,015. I cannot put into words how grateful I am and we will do our best to update you as the situation goes on into the coming weeks. Thank you all so very much, and I will continue to help GFL to the best of my ability.

Here's a little update to my situation if you are interested (unfortunately it isn't the news I had hoped for this morning, more about it is on the gofundme as an update):

 

Apparently even the amazing support you guys have given me still was not enough for my father and I to get out of eviction and now our goal is set at $4,000. I do not know myself of the actual money value needed to get us out of eviction but it seems like it was much more than my father had expected. If anyone can help us reach this new goal it would help us out more than you could know, but even if not the support you have shown me and my father is more than I could have ever fathomed, and to that I am forever in your debt. I believe this new goal may stem more from eviction fees made from the actual complex staff themselves (scumbags) so now I'm not even sure where we're at. I would imagine that eviction has been filed at the time of this update. I will try to contact my father when I go to school in about 2-3 hours and see if I can get a bead on how much we're going to need to get out of this, but apparently it was even more than we anticipated. At this point, I don't know where we are at, but it seems like we may not be able to get out of eviction still. I will update more on what my father says later today.

Hello, GFL community. As you all know, my father and I aren't at the best state we have been and we were struggling to afford our rent for about a month. Here is my final update:

 

We did it. We were able to pay off our owed expenses and now the apartment heads are off of our backs. We now are in the clear, and everything should be back to normal after today. Thank you all so much. I had some very incredible support come in from all around GFL and to that, I will never be able to thank you all for the insane amounts of generosity and kindness you have given us. This is what GFL is all about.

 

If you are possibly curious about my dad's health state, he is doing much better and is healing to the degree that the doctors expected him to. He has started his new job and we are expecting to be back on our feet 100% soon. Thank you all so very much, you have no idea what you have done for us and how much it means to us. My dad wanted me to explicitly tell you guys that he is incredibly grateful and that he is incredibly happy that people were able to help us in this time of need. Thank you so much.
