The "super heroes" pushed away the comet to ensure that it would not destroy Tilted Towers (TT) since it's a "highly populated" city. The super heroes saved people by making it crash at the former factory near Dusty Depot taking out the factory along with most of Dusty Depot. They are making changes to the world (new story) to make it more fun to explore new places to loot, hide and farm in.
