Why should you be unbanned

So, I accidentally RDM'd a player and he unsurprisingly did not forgive me. After that,  one of my friends   (76561198843941770)    who was also in the game at the time said that he was going to play CS surf and left. I informed him that i would join him after a round or two. I had no idea that if you left after being reported,  you would be banned. It was an honest mistake on my part and i hope i can be forgiven.
