The fact it's written as 6 / 2(1+2) usually means its 1. 

 

Using whichever mnemonic you like doesn't change the fact that by convention when it's written like this the 2 is tied to the brackets. 

 

The real answer is that its a badly formed question and can be correct either way. 

It should either be written like this   which = 1

 

Or this  which = 9

 

It really depends on where the numbers came from so without context its very much either or.

 

Ambiguity in maths is bad maths, don't do bad maths.
