Joshy   4,368 / 44,996 Report Post Posted January 14 Last year's thread can be found here:  Last year we had 205 participants, which dropped to 138 this year 🥲 it's a scary drop, but I want to thank you all for still participating it's still a lot. Thanks to the Events Team for helping which includes Blazing, Alexis, and Muted; Liloz also provided a lot of helpful feedback. Thank you!  Firstly: I apologize for posting this so late. I'm still sick, but this couldn't wait any longer. We've all been anxious to see the results, and so I'm going to post them right now. I plan to beautify this later, but hopefully this will satisfy a curious few.   I do plan on making a few updates and changes, but it wont change the responses we got from the survey.  ACTION ITEM: Update: Winner for the VIP is BrotherWolf 🙂 I was thinking of doing something like recording a video or hosting an event, but that it is too elaborate and unfair to the first true winner. I wrote the random code in a little MATLAB script nothing too fancy, and BrotherWolf was the winner upon working code. I'll share the script that I used below for transparency purposes (plus I know random number generators can be controversial so I want you to know which one I used) basically I assigned everyone a number and whoever got the number "1" won. I removed the profiles that were submitted because these people did not agree to have their names shown. Spoiler %%workspace.m clc;clear; tic; profiles = [...]; N = length(profiles); R = randperm(N) one_location = find(R == 1) winner = profiles(one_location) toc;    It seems like a lot of us including myself stuck around for a long time. Thanks for you for your loyalty! And to the few newcomers: Welcome! We're happy to have you here too 🙂  This also suggests most people have a relatively good experience with GFL! I know communities can have a lot of drama and challenges so thank you for still thinking positively.  It's no surprise that a large number of participants are from GMOD and Counter-Strike 🙂 I'm also really happy to see more TF2 players participating in this.  Either way: You're supporting the community.  Is GFL getting old??? It looks like it. (It's okay. I'm old too!)  This was expected, but we can see the community is still diversifying a little bit more. Nice.  I spoke too soon.  This happened last year too: Most of our members are in the US. I think this has changed a lot since I first started because I felt like I remember a lot of people being in the UK at some point, but my memory might be a bit fuzzy.   The percentage of heterosexual people increased by about 3% (I wasn't expecting that), and pansexual increased by almost 5% compared to last year.  The number of people being single increased by about 5%, but about 2% more people are dating IRL compared to last year (must have swiped them from online dating!) 15 participants were married last year, but this year we only have 9. Scary.  Everyone in GFL is crazy smart.  It looks like about 3-4% of the people were unemployed last year and not looking switched over to the looking team. Full time workers increased by about 5%.  GFL isn't very religious, but it does look like people are more often following a religion. Those who practice Christianity increased by almost 10% compared to last year; also Catholic increased by about 3%.  These results look so similar to last year with maybe just a few more Republicans, but overall: GFL doesn't care about politics.  Kind of a silly question. Sorry!  Thanks to Liloz for proposing to expand this question a bit more. I didn't realize how many hours people put into the games. Thank you for your time!  This one was a bit messy, but there were a few clear winners.  More people are switching over to linux.  Almost nobody uses a Mac lol.  Still a surprising number of people are using Chrome although it's a slight 4% decrease compared to last year. Far less people are using Firefox and Opera compared to last year, which each decreased almost 4-5%. Brave has nearly doubled up.  Another silly question. Sorry! A little surprised Netflix is so low though.  Looks like it's Breaking Bad or nothing. I thought Better Call Saul might do better with so many fans (and I recommend the show!)  It looks like a lot of people in GFL do not like movies or TV that much, which aligns to the results above. Spoiler  Most people put N/A so I've updated it to use a plot without N/A to see if we could squeeze in a few more movies. Some slight variations in responses like a misspelling or space separated some of the same responses (ie. most people put FNAF and one person put FNAF movie or FNAF_ with a space in it) so I consolidated them to see if that changed anything, and it did a little bit. The results below:  Fun and new question! Thanks, Arson. I wasn't expecting Mulan to win! I voted for Rapunzel.  Results look all over the place for music, but looks like... Kanye West... won?  Just like the education above: It looks like people want extreme intelligence. I was surprised strength didn't even come close.  Purple was finally defeated by blue, which was a close competition last year.  It's not real.  Thanks, Alexis!
