My first home console was the Nintendo Wii and my first handheld console was the Nintendo DS. It's a bit weird I started with these since by the time I was 8, the next generation of Nintendo systems already came out, yet I started with these and both of them came out around when I was born. I've been wanting to build a true-to-form emulator using a Raspberry Pi Zero, a GB Advance SP shell and a couple of other components, but never really got around to doing it. Maybe sometime soon!
