TheJitFace 699 / 18,162 Report Post Posted November 15, 2020 A bit of a strange decision, but idk too much about this topic. Also since when did managers get like 200 million different roles now. I thought their first priority was to manage their servers, then worry about other stuff. People got like 20 different roles now. I see members of the moderation team are very upset and I can understand why. @AngieAre you allowed to call other people toxic when you manage a rust server? Worgee 812 / 13,264 Report Post Posted November 15, 2020 It's nice and all that you want change. But it seems really wrong to seemingly not inform any of those in the roles about the decision. From what I can read and have heard there were issues that were not dealt with and a lack of leadership that weren't attempted to be solved. How come you didn't try to fix the lack of leadership instead of removing all mods and starting on a fresh? I think it's safe to say that not every single mod was the issue. And if they all were an issue, how come it was not dealt with sooner? I would like to state that I am not deeply involved with this, but it sure doesn't look too good from an unbiased perspective. Shuruia 3,145 / 28,033 Report Post Posted November 15, 2020 Edited November 15, 2020 by Shuruia The general idea behind this move is that the mod team had a lot of problems at its core. Some mods were extremely inactive, and the ones who were active were starting to demonstrate some worrying toxic circlejerks. We had been discussing a potential solution to this a lot in internal channels, and we eventually settled on just pulling the team out by the roots and starting again. This came after talks and warnings to various mods on their behaviour, so it's not like we immediately jumped to the nuclear option without trying other things first. There was also originally more to this course of action than just dissolving the existing mod team, but Ben didn't mention it in the original announcement—I'm guessing that part was either scrapped or put on the backburner. As far as the present implementation went (which I obviously wasn't involved with), I do agree that this could have been done better. The active mods still have a right to be talked to individually about the changes, why the changes happened, and their potential continued future with the mod team. As flawed as our active mod team was, the individuals still did great work and spent a lot of time and dedication in the team. Just doesn't seem right to leave them completely in the dark. None of the mods who were removed due to the dissolution are blacklisted; you are all free to reapply if you wish to continue with the team. The issues that became inherent to the team over time will be held up to greater scrutiny than before, though. Edited November 15, 2020 by Shuruia I won't take a photo—I'll tell it through words. Harakoni 729 / 12,354 Report Post Posted November 15, 2020 I see a lot of taking sides in this thread, which is the wrong approach to take on this decision. While people may hold misgivings with either party involved, the moderators removed and the "leadership" which abandoned them, the truth that everyone involved is to blame with the outcome - Issues mentioned in the announcement and by commenters here have been historically unsolved within the moderation team for years, even dating as far back as prior to my short appointment as Moderation Team leader. Toxicity, apathy, a lack of solid leadership, a lack of proper utilities and training have tainted the moderation team on Discord mostly since I was a Moderator in 2018 and I myself have to make up for these myself with the CWRP Moderation Team. I would also like to mention there have been a host of internalised issues within the team recently that many here may not even have the information on, please don't jump to assumptions with what little can be and has been shared. This change, although a gut punch to some and a saving grace for others is a required dredge to solve these historically unanswered issues, in my opinion. As Shuruia did mention too the implementation of this is not in the best practice, with the removed moderators left in the dark, but the change has now happened and will unlikely be reverted. I look forward to seeing if this approach will finally solve these long-standing issues I've addressed far too many times. Least I can do is wish good luck lol v-1.mp4
positive 210 / 4,558 Report Post Posted November 15, 2020 Edited November 15, 2020 by positive This would never happen on PlagueFest! rtv for mako smh at people who think mod teams really make a difference other than muting random shitlords on discord and moving forum posts lmao On a serious note, I somewhat regret pushing for forum moderator becoming an actual rank back a few years ago. Looks like it opened the gate for random circlejerks around permissions and "power" (it's a gaming community let's stay within proportions shall we?) Also opened the gate for other useless roles such as writer team and PR. If you by any means think that these roles are necessary in a gaming community, you're out of your mind. forum mod should stay a backburner secondary rank just to be able to move forum posts, chill out with your nonsense about this "being the worst decision ever" you sensitive circlejerking power hungry kids Edited November 15, 2020 by positive
